[rv-10-139] • 6 श्लोकाः

सूर्यरश्मिर्हरिकेशः पुरस्तात्सविता ज्योतिरुदयाँ अजस्रम् । तस्य पूषा प्रसवे याति विद्वान्त्सम्पश्यन्विश्वा भुवनानि गोपाः ॥

sūryaraśmirharikeśaḥ purastātsavitā jyotirudayā~ ajasram | tasya pūṣā prasave yāti vidvāntsampaśyanviśvā bhuvanāni gopāḥ ||

Savitā, the solar-rayed, the yellow-haired, sent up the undying light from the east; at his commandthe wise Pūṣan, the preserver, follows, looking upon all creatures.

नृचक्षा एष दिवो मध्य आस्त आपप्रिवान्रोदसी अन्तरिक्षम् । स विश्वाचीरभि चष्टे घृताचीरन्तरा पूर्वमपरं च केतुम् ॥

nṛcakṣā eṣa divo madhya āsta āpaprivānrodasī antarikṣam | sa viśvācīrabhi caṣṭe ghṛtācīrantarā pūrvamaparaṃ ca ketum ||

Beholding mankind he sits in the midst of the sky, filling (with light) the heaven and earth and thefirmament; he illumines the all-pervading (quarters of space), the bright-pervading (intermediate points), and thehindmost, the foremost, and the hindmost mark.

रायो बुध्नः संगमनो वसूनां विश्वा रूपाभि चष्टे शचीभिः । देव इव सविता सत्यधर्मेन्द्रो न तस्थौ समरे धनानाम् ॥

rāyo budhnaḥ saṃgamano vasūnāṃ viśvā rūpābhi caṣṭe śacībhiḥ | deva iva savitā satyadharmendro na tasthau samare dhanānām ||

The root of riches, the acquirer of treasure illumines by his functions all (visible) forms; Savitā, like agod, whose attribute is truth, stands like Indra in the battle for riches.

विश्वावसुं सोम गन्धर्वमापो ददृशुषीस्तदृतेना व्यायन् । तदन्ववैदिन्द्रो रारहाण आसां परि सूर्यस्य परिधीँरपश्यत् ॥

viśvāvasuṃ soma gandharvamāpo dadṛśuṣīstadṛtenā vyāyan | tadanvavaidindro rārahāṇa āsāṃ pari sūryasya paridhī~rapaśyat ||

Beholding Soma, the Gandharva Viśvāvasu, the waters have come forth by means of the sacrifice;Indra impelling them knew of this (their approach), and looked round the rims of the sun.

विश्वावसुरभि तन्नो गृणातु दिव्यो गन्धर्वो रजसो विमानः । यद्वा घा सत्यमुत यन्न विद्म धियो हिन्वानो धिय इन्नो अव्याः ॥

viśvāvasurabhi tanno gṛṇātu divyo gandharvo rajaso vimānaḥ | yadvā ghā satyamuta yanna vidma dhiyo hinvāno dhiya inno avyāḥ ||

May the celestial Gandharva Viśvāvasu, the measurer of the water, declare to us that which is thetruth, and that which we do not know; accepting our praises. (Viśvāvasu), protect our sacrifices.

सस्निमविन्दच्चरणे नदीनामपावृणोद्दुरो अश्मव्रजानाम् । प्रासां गन्धर्वो अमृतानि वोचदिन्द्रो दक्षं परि जानादहीनाम् ॥

sasnimavindaccaraṇe nadīnāmapāvṛṇodduro aśmavrajānām | prāsāṃ gandharvo amṛtāni vocadindro dakṣaṃ pari jānādahīnām ||

(Indra) discovered the cloud in the region of the rivers, he set open the portals of (the waters) whosedwelling is in the clouds; Indra, (in the form of) the Gandharva (viśvāvasu), proclaimed the ambrosial (waters),he knew the strength of the dragons.
