[rv-1-90] • 9 श्लोकाः

ऋजुनीती नो वरुणो मित्रो नयतु विद्वान् । अर्यमा देवैः सजोषाः ॥

ṛjunītī no varuṇo mitro nayatu vidvān | aryamā devaiḥ sajoṣāḥ ||

May Varuṇa and the wise Mitra lead us, by straight paths, (to our desires) and Aryaman, rejoicing with the gods.

ते हि वस्वो वसवानास्ते अप्रमूरा महोभिः । व्रता रक्षन्ते विश्वाहा ॥

te hi vasvo vasavānāste apramūrā mahobhiḥ | vratā rakṣante viśvāhā ||

For they are the distributors of wealth (over the world); and never heedless, discharge their functions every day.

ते अस्मभ्यं शर्म यंसन्नमृता मर्त्येभ्यः । बाधमाना अप द्विषः ॥

te asmabhyaṃ śarma yaṃsannamṛtā martyebhyaḥ | bādhamānā apa dviṣaḥ ||

May they, who are immortal, bestow upon us mortals, happiness, annihilating our foes.

वि नः पथः सुविताय चियन्त्विन्द्रो मरुतः । पूषा भगो वन्द्यासः ॥

vi naḥ pathaḥ suvitāya ciyantvindro marutaḥ | pūṣā bhago vandyāsaḥ ||

May the adorable Indra, the Maruts, Pūṣan, and Bhaga, so direct our paths, (that they may lead) to the attainment of good gifts.

उत नो धियो गोअग्राः पूषन्विष्णवेवयावः । कर्ता नः स्वस्तिमतः ॥

uta no dhiyo goagrāḥ pūṣanviṣṇavevayāvaḥ | kartā naḥ svastimataḥ ||

Pūṣan, Viṣṇu, Maruts, make our rites restorative of our cattle; make us prosperous

मधु वाता ऋतायते मधु क्षरन्ति सिन्धवः । माध्वीर्नः सन्त्वोषधीः ॥

madhu vātā ṛtāyate madhu kṣaranti sindhavaḥ | mādhvīrnaḥ santvoṣadhīḥ ||

The winds bring sweet (rewards) to the sacrificer; the rivers bring sweet (waters); may the herbs yield sweetness to us.

मधु नक्तमुतोषसो मधुमत्पार्थिवं रजः । मधु द्यौरस्तु नः पिता ॥

madhu naktamutoṣaso madhumatpārthivaṃ rajaḥ | madhu dyaurastu naḥ pitā ||

May night and moring be sweet; may the region of the earth (lokā rajāṃsyucyate-Nirukta 4.19) be full of sweetness; may the protecting heaven be sweet to us.

मधुमान्नो वनस्पतिर्मधुमाँ अस्तु सूर्यः । माध्वीर्गावो भवन्तु नः ॥

madhumānno vanaspatirmadhumā~ astu sūryaḥ | mādhvīrgāvo bhavantu naḥ ||

May Vanaspati be possessed of sweetness towards us; may the sun be imbued with sweetness; may the cattle be sweet to us.

शं नो मित्रः शं वरुणः शं नो भवत्वर्यमा । शं न इन्द्रो बृहस्पतिः शं नो विष्णुरुरुक्रमः ॥

śaṃ no mitraḥ śaṃ varuṇaḥ śaṃ no bhavatvaryamā | śaṃ na indro bṛhaspatiḥ śaṃ no viṣṇururukramaḥ ||

May Mitra be propitious to us; may Varuṇa, may Aryaman, be propitious to us; may Indra and Bṛhaspati be propitious to us; may the wide-stepping Viṣṇu be propitious to us.
