[rv-1-91] • 23 श्लोकाः

त्वं सोम प्र चिकितो मनीषा त्वं रजिष्ठमनु नेषि पन्थाम् । तव प्रणीती पितरो न इन्दो देवेषु रत्नमभजन्त धीराः ॥

tvaṃ soma pra cikito manīṣā tvaṃ rajiṣṭhamanu neṣi panthām | tava praṇītī pitaro na indo deveṣu ratnamabhajanta dhīrāḥ ||

You, Soma, are thoroughly apprehended by our understanding; you lead us along a straight path; by your guidance, Indra, our righteous fathers obtained wealth among the gods.

त्वं सोम क्रतुभिः सुक्रतुर्भूस्त्वं दक्षैः सुदक्षो विश्ववेदाः । त्वं वृषा वृषत्वेभिर्महित्वा द्युम्नेभिर्द्युम्न्यभवो नृचक्षाः ॥

tvaṃ soma kratubhiḥ sukraturbhūstvaṃ dakṣaiḥ sudakṣo viśvavedāḥ | tvaṃ vṛṣā vṛṣatvebhirmahitvā dyumnebhirdyumnyabhavo nṛcakṣāḥ ||

You, Soma, are the doer of good by holy acts; you are powerful by your energies, and know all things; you are the showerer (of benefits) by your bounties, and (are great) by your greatness; you, the guide of men, has been well nourished by sacrificial offerings.

राज्ञो नु ते वरुणस्य व्रतानि बृहद्गभीरं तव सोम धाम । शुचिष्ट्वमसि प्रियो न मित्रो दक्षाय्यो अर्यमेवासि सोम ॥

rājño nu te varuṇasya vratāni bṛhadgabhīraṃ tava soma dhāma | śuciṣṭvamasi priyo na mitro dakṣāyyo aryamevāsi soma ||

Your acts are (like those) of the royal Varuṇa; your glory, Soma, is great and profound; you are the purifier (of all), like the beloved Mitra; you are the augmenter of all, like Aryaman.

या ते धामानि दिवि या पृथिव्यां या पर्वतेष्वोषधीष्वप्सु । तेभिर्नो विश्वैः सुमना अहेऴन्राजन्त्सोम प्रति हव्या गृभाय ॥

yā te dhāmāni divi yā pṛthivyāṃ yā parvateṣvoṣadhīṣvapsu | tebhirno viśvaiḥ sumanā aheḻanrājantsoma prati havyā gṛbhāya ||

Endowed with all the glories (that are displayed) by you in heaven, on earth, in the mountains, in the plural nts, in the waters, do you, illustrious Soma, well-disposed towards us, and devoid of anger, accept our oblations.

त्वं सोमासि सत्पतिस्त्वं राजोत वृत्रहा । त्वं भद्रो असि क्रतुः ॥

tvaṃ somāsi satpatistvaṃ rājota vṛtrahā | tvaṃ bhadro asi kratuḥ ||

You, Soma, are the protector, the soverign of the pious, or even the slayer of Vṛtra; you are holy sacrifice..

त्वं च सोम नो वशो जीवातुं न मरामहे । प्रियस्तोत्रो वनस्पतिः ॥

tvaṃ ca soma no vaśo jīvātuṃ na marāmahe | priyastotro vanaspatiḥ ||

You, Soma, fond of praise, the lord of plural nts, are life to us; if you will, we shall not die.

त्वं सोम महे भगं त्वं यून ऋतायते । दक्षं दधासि जीवसे ॥

tvaṃ soma mahe bhagaṃ tvaṃ yūna ṛtāyate | dakṣaṃ dadhāsi jīvase ||

You bestow, Soma, upon him who worships, you, whether old or young, wealth, what he may enjoy and live.

त्वं नः सोम विश्वतो रक्षा राजन्नघायतः । न रिष्येत्त्वावतः सखा ॥

tvaṃ naḥ soma viśvato rakṣā rājannaghāyataḥ | na riṣyettvāvataḥ sakhā ||

Defend us, royal Soma, from every one seeking to harm us; the friend of one like you can never perish.

सोम यास्ते मयोभुव ऊतयः सन्ति दाशुषे । ताभिर्नोऽविता भव ॥

soma yāste mayobhuva ūtayaḥ santi dāśuṣe | tābhirno'vitā bhava ||

Soma, be our protector with those assistances which are sources of happiness to the donor (of oblations).

इमं यज्ञमिदं वचो जुजुषाण उपागहि । सोम त्वं नो वृधे भव ॥

imaṃ yajñamidaṃ vaco jujuṣāṇa upāgahi | soma tvaṃ no vṛdhe bhava ||

Accepting this our sacrifice, and this our praise, approach, Soma, and be to us as the augmenter of our rite.

सोम गीर्भिष्ट्वा वयं वर्धयामो वचोविदः । सुमृऴीको न आ विश ॥

soma gīrbhiṣṭvā vayaṃ vardhayāmo vacovidaḥ | sumṛḻīko na ā viśa ||

Acquainted with hymns, we elevate you with praises; do you, who are benignant, approach.

गयस्फानो अमीवहा वसुवित्पुष्टिवर्धनः । सुमित्रः सोम नो भव ॥

gayasphāno amīvahā vasuvitpuṣṭivardhanaḥ | sumitraḥ soma no bhava ||

Be unto us, Soma, the bestower of wealth, the remover of disease, the cognizant of riches, the augmenter of nutriment, an excellent friend.

सोम रारन्धि नो हृदि गावो न यवसेष्वा । मर्य इव स्व ओक्ये ॥

soma rārandhi no hṛdi gāvo na yavaseṣvā | marya iva sva okye ||

Soma, dwell happy in our hearts, like cattle in fresh pastures, like men in their own abodes.

यः सोम सख्ये तव रारणद्देव मर्त्यः । तं दक्षः सचते कविः ॥

yaḥ soma sakhye tava rāraṇaddeva martyaḥ | taṃ dakṣaḥ sacate kaviḥ ||

The experienced sage commends the mortal who, through affection, divine Soma, praises you.

उरुष्या णो अभिशस्तेः सोम नि पाह्यंहसः । सखा सुशेव एधि नः ॥

uruṣyā ṇo abhiśasteḥ soma ni pāhyaṃhasaḥ | sakhā suśeva edhi naḥ ||

Protect us, Soma, from calumny, preserve us from sin; plural ased with our service, be our friend.

आ प्यायस्व समेतु ते विश्वतः सोम वृष्ण्यम् । भवा वाजस्य संगथे ॥

ā pyāyasva sametu te viśvataḥ soma vṛṣṇyam | bhavā vājasya saṃgathe ||

Increase, Soma, may vigour come to you from every side; be diligent in the supply of food (to us).

आ प्यायस्व मदिन्तम सोम विश्वेभिरंशुभिः । भवा नः सुश्रवस्तमः सखा वृधे ॥

ā pyāyasva madintama soma viśvebhiraṃśubhiḥ | bhavā naḥ suśravastamaḥ sakhā vṛdhe ||

Exulting Soma, increase with all twining plural nts; be to us a friend; well supplied with food, we may prosper.

सं ते पयांसि समु यन्तु वाजाः सं वृष्ण्यान्यभिमातिषाहः । आप्यायमानो अमृताय सोम दिवि श्रवांस्युत्तमानि धिष्व ॥

saṃ te payāṃsi samu yantu vājāḥ saṃ vṛṣṇyānyabhimātiṣāhaḥ | āpyāyamāno amṛtāya soma divi śravāṃsyuttamāni dhiṣva ||

May the milky juices flow around you; may sacrificial offerings and vigour be concentrated in the destroyer of foes; and, being fully nourished, do you provide, Soma, excellent viands in heaven for our immortality.

या ते धामानि हविषा यजन्ति ता ते विश्वा परिभूरस्तु यज्ञम् । गयस्फानः प्रतरणः सुवीरोऽवीरहा प्र चरा सोम दुर्यान् ॥

yā te dhāmāni haviṣā yajanti tā te viśvā paribhūrastu yajñam | gayasphānaḥ prataraṇaḥ suvīro'vīrahā pra carā soma duryān ||

Whichever of your glories (men) worship with oblations, may our sacrifice be invested with them all; come to our mansions, Soma, who are the bestower of wealth, the transporter (over difficulties); attended by valiant heroes, the non-destroyer of progeny.

सोमो धेनुं सोमो अर्वन्तमाशुं सोमो वीरं कर्मण्यं ददाति । सादन्यं विदथ्यं सभेयं पितृश्रवणं यो ददाशदस्मै ॥

somo dhenuṃ somo arvantamāśuṃ somo vīraṃ karmaṇyaṃ dadāti | sādanyaṃ vidathyaṃ sabheyaṃ pitṛśravaṇaṃ yo dadāśadasmai ||

To him who present (offerings), Soma gives a cow, a swift horse, and a son who is able in affairs, skilful in domestic concerns, assiduous in worship, eminent in society, and who is an honour to his father.

अषाऴ्हं युत्सु पृतनासु पप्रिं स्वर्षामप्सां वृजनस्य गोपाम् । भरेषुजां सुक्षितिं सुश्रवसं जयन्तं त्वामनु मदेम सोम ॥

aṣāḻhaṃ yutsu pṛtanāsu papriṃ svarṣāmapsāṃ vṛjanasya gopām | bhareṣujāṃ sukṣitiṃ suśravasaṃ jayantaṃ tvāmanu madema soma ||

We rejoice, Soma, contemplating you, invincible in battle, triumphant amongst hosts, the granter of heaven, the giver of rain, the preserver of strength, born amidst sacrifices, occupying a brilliant dwelling, renowned and victorious.

त्वमिमा ओषधीः सोम विश्वास्त्वमपो अजनयस्त्वं गाः । त्वमा ततन्थोर्वन्तरिक्षं त्वं ज्योतिषा वि तमो ववर्थ ॥

tvamimā oṣadhīḥ soma viśvāstvamapo ajanayastvaṃ gāḥ | tvamā tatanthorvantarikṣaṃ tvaṃ jyotiṣā vi tamo vavartha ||

You, Soma, have genitive rated all these herbs, the water and the kine; you have spread out the spacious firmament; you have scattered darkness with light.

देवेन नो मनसा देव सोम रायो भागं सहसावन्नभि युध्य । मा त्वा तनदीशिषे वीर्यस्योभयेभ्यः प्र चिकित्सा गविष्टौ ॥

devena no manasā deva soma rāyo bhāgaṃ sahasāvannabhi yudhya | mā tvā tanadīśiṣe vīryasyobhayebhyaḥ pra cikitsā gaviṣṭau ||

Divine and potent Soma, bestow upon us, with your brilliant mind, a portion of wealth; may no (adversary) annoy you; you are supreme over the valour of (any) two (mutual) opponents; defend us (from our enemies) in battle.
