ऋग्वेद 1.75 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

जुषस्व सप्रथस्तमं वचो देवप्सरस्तमम् । हव्या जुह्वान आसनि ॥

juṣasva saprathastamaṃ vaco devapsarastamam | havyā juhvāna āsani ||

Accept our most exhaustive prayers, propitiatory of the gods, accepting our oblations in your mouth.

अथा ते अङ्गिरस्तमाग्ने वेधस्तम प्रियम् । वोचेम ब्रह्म सानसि ॥

athā te aṅgirastamāgne vedhastama priyam | vocema brahma sānasi ||

And then, most wise Agni, chief of the Aṅgiras, may we address (to you) an acceptable and gratifying prayer.

कस्ते जामिर्जनानामग्ने को दाश्वध्वरः । को ह कस्मिन्नसि श्रितः ॥

kaste jāmirjanānāmagne ko dāśvadhvaraḥ | ko ha kasminnasi śritaḥ ||

Who, Agni, is your kinsman amongst people? Who is worthy to offer you sacrifice? Who, indeed, are you and where do you abide?

त्वं जामिर्जनानामग्ने मित्रो असि प्रियः । सखा सखिभ्य ईड्यः ॥

tvaṃ jāmirjanānāmagne mitro asi priyaḥ | sakhā sakhibhya īḍyaḥ ||

You, Agni, are the kinsman of people. You are the protector of sacrificers. You are extolled by priests, since you are the friend of all.

यजा नो मित्रावरुणा यजा देवाँ ऋतं बृहत् । अग्ने यक्षि स्वं दमम् ॥

yajā no mitrāvaruṇā yajā devā~ ṛtaṃ bṛhat | agne yakṣi svaṃ damam ||

Worship for us, Mitra and Varuṇa; worship for us, all the gods; (celebrate) a great sacrifice; be present in your own dwelling.
