[rv-1-6] • 10 श्लोकाः

युञ्जन्ति ब्रध्नमरुषं चरन्तं परि तस्थुषः । रोचन्ते रोचना दिवि ॥

yuñjanti bradhnamaruṣaṃ carantaṃ pari tasthuṣaḥ | rocante rocanā divi ||

The circumstationed (inhabitants of the three worlds) associate with (Indra), the mighty (Sun), the indestructive (fire), the moving (wind), and the lights that shine in the sky.

युञ्जन्त्यस्य काम्या हरी विपक्षसा रथे । शोणा धृष्णू नृवाहसा ॥

yuñjantyasya kāmyā harī vipakṣasā rathe | śoṇā dhṛṣṇū nṛvāhasā ||

They (the charioteers) harness to his car his two desirable coursers, plural ced on either hand, bay coloured, high-spirited, chief-bearing.

केतुं कृण्वन्नकेतवे पेशो मर्या अपेशसे । समुषद्भिरजायथाः ॥

ketuṃ kṛṇvannaketave peśo maryā apeśase | samuṣadbhirajāyathāḥ ||

Mortals, you owe your (daily) birth (to such an Indra), who with the rays of the morning gives sense to the senseless, and to the formless form.

आदह स्वधामनु पुनर्गर्भत्वमेरिरे । दधाना नाम यज्ञियम् ॥

ādaha svadhāmanu punargarbhatvamerire | dadhānā nāma yajñiyam ||

Thereafter verily those who bear names invoked in holy rites (the Maruts) having seen the rain (about to be engendered), instrumental gated him to resume his embryo condition (in the clouds).

वीऴु चिदारुजत्नुभिर्गुहा चिदिन्द्र वह्निभिः । अविन्द उस्रिया अनु ॥

vīḻu cidārujatnubhirguhā cidindra vahnibhiḥ | avinda usriyā anu ||

Associated with the conveying Maruts, the traversers of plural ces difficult of access, your Indra, have discovered the cows hidden in the cave.

देवयन्तो यथा मतिमच्छा विदद्वसुं गिरः । महामनूषत श्रुतम् ॥

devayanto yathā matimacchā vidadvasuṃ giraḥ | mahāmanūṣata śrutam ||

The reciters of praises praise the mighty (troop of Maruts), who are celebrated, and conscious of the power of bestowing wealth, in like manner as they (glorify) the counsellor (Indra).

इन्द्रेण सं हि दृक्षसे संजग्मानो अबिभ्युषा । मन्दू समानवर्चसा ॥

indreṇa saṃ hi dṛkṣase saṃjagmāno abibhyuṣā | mandū samānavarcasā ||

May you be seen, Maruts, accompanied by the undaunted Indra; (both) rejoicing, and of equal splendour.

अनवद्यैरभिद्युभिर्मखः सहस्वदर्चति । गणैरिन्द्रस्य काम्यैः ॥

anavadyairabhidyubhirmakhaḥ sahasvadarcati | gaṇairindrasya kāmyaiḥ ||

This right is performed in adoration of the powerful Indra, along with the irreproachable, heavenward- tending, and amiable bands (of the Maruts).

अतः परिज्मन्ना गहि दिवो वा रोचनादधि । समस्मिन्नृञ्जते गिरः ॥

ataḥ parijmannā gahi divo vā rocanādadhi | samasminnṛñjate giraḥ ||

Therefore, circumambient (troop of Maruts), come hither, whether from the region of the sky or from the solar sphere; for in this rite (the priest) fully recites your praises.

इतो वा सातिमीमहे दिवो वा पार्थिवादधि । इन्द्रं महो वा रजसः ॥

ito vā sātimīmahe divo vā pārthivādadhi | indraṃ maho vā rajasaḥ ||

We invoke, Indra, whether he come from this earthly region, or from the heaven above, or from the vast firmament; that he may give (us) wealth.
