सह वामेन न उषो व्युच्छा दुहितर्दिवः । सह द्युम्नेन बृहता विभावरि राया देवि दास्वती ॥

saha vāmena na uṣo vyucchā duhitardivaḥ | saha dyumnena bṛhatā vibhāvari rāyā devi dāsvatī ||

Uṣas, daughter of heaven, dawn upon us with riches; diffuser of light, dawn upon us with abundant food; bountiful goddess, dawn upon with wealth (of cattle).

अश्वावतीर्गोमतीर्विश्वसुविदो भूरि च्यवन्त वस्तवे । उदीरय प्रति मा सूनृता उषश्चोद राधो मघोनाम् ॥

aśvāvatīrgomatīrviśvasuvido bhūri cyavanta vastave | udīraya prati mā sūnṛtā uṣaścoda rādho maghonām ||

Abounding with horses, abounding with kine, bestowers of every sort of wealth, (the divinities of morning) are possessed of much that is necessary for the habitations (of men); Uṣas, speak to me kind words; send us the affluence of the wealthy.

उवासोषा उच्छाच्च नु देवी जीरा रथानाम् । ये अस्या आचरणेषु दध्रिरे समुद्रे न श्रवस्यवः ॥

uvāsoṣā ucchācca nu devī jīrā rathānām | ye asyā ācaraṇeṣu dadhrire samudre na śravasyavaḥ ||

The divine Uṣas has dwelt (in heaven of old); may she dawn today, the excitress of chariots which are harnessed at her coming, as those who are desirous of wealth (send ships) to sea.

उषो ये ते प्र यामेषु युञ्जते मनो दानाय सूरयः । अत्राह तत्कण्व एषां कण्वतमो नाम गृणाति नृणाम् ॥

uṣo ye te pra yāmeṣu yuñjate mano dānāya sūrayaḥ | atrāha tatkaṇva eṣāṃ kaṇvatamo nāma gṛṇāti nṛṇām ||

Uṣas, at your comings wise men turn their minds to benefactions; of these men, the most wise Kaṇva proclaims the fame.

आ घा योषेव सूनर्युषा याति प्रभुञ्जती । जरयन्ती वृजनं पद्वदीयत उत्पातयति पक्षिणः ॥

ā ghā yoṣeva sūnaryuṣā yāti prabhuñjatī | jarayantī vṛjanaṃ padvadīyata utpātayati pakṣiṇaḥ ||

Uṣas, nourishing (all), comes daily like a matron, the directress (of household duties), conducting all transient (creatures) to decay; (at her coming) each biped stirs and she wakes up the birds.

वि या सृजति समनं व्यर्थिनः पदं न वेत्योदती । वयो नकिष्टे पप्तिवांस आसते व्युष्टौ वाजिनीवति ॥

vi yā sṛjati samanaṃ vyarthinaḥ padaṃ na vetyodatī | vayo nakiṣṭe paptivāṃsa āsate vyuṣṭau vājinīvati ||

She animates the diligent, and sends clients (to their patrons); and shedder of dews, knows not delay; bestower of food, at your rising the soaring birds no longer suspend (their flight).

एषायुक्त परावतः सूर्यस्योदयनादधि । शतं रथेभिः सुभगोषा इयं वि यात्यभि मानुषान् ॥

eṣāyukta parāvataḥ sūryasyodayanādadhi | śataṃ rathebhiḥ subhagoṣā iyaṃ vi yātyabhi mānuṣān ||

This auspicious Uṣas has harnessed (her vehicles) from afar, above the rising of the sun; and she comes gloriously upon man, with a hundred chariots.

विश्वमस्या नानाम चक्षसे जगज्ज्योतिष्कृणोति सूनरी । अप द्वेषो मघोनी दुहिता दिव उषा उच्छदप स्रिधः ॥

viśvamasyā nānāma cakṣase jagajjyotiṣkṛṇoti sūnarī | apa dveṣo maghonī duhitā diva uṣā ucchadapa sridhaḥ ||

All living beings adore her, that she may be visible; bringer of good, she lights up the world; the affluent daughter of heaven drives away the malevolent and disperses the absorbers (of moisture).

उष आ भाहि भानुना चन्द्रेण दुहितर्दिवः । आवहन्ती भूर्यस्मभ्यं सौभगं व्युच्छन्ती दिविष्टिषु ॥

uṣa ā bhāhi bhānunā candreṇa duhitardivaḥ | āvahantī bhūryasmabhyaṃ saubhagaṃ vyucchantī diviṣṭiṣu ||

Shine around, Uṣas, with cheering lustre, bringing us every day much happiness, and scattering darkness.

विश्वस्य हि प्राणनं जीवनं त्वे वि यदुच्छसि सूनरि । सा नो रथेन बृहता विभावरि श्रुधि चित्रामघे हवम् ॥

viśvasya hi prāṇanaṃ jīvanaṃ tve vi yaducchasi sūnari | sā no rathena bṛhatā vibhāvari śrudhi citrāmaghe havam ||

Inasmuch, bringer of good, as you dawn, the breath and life of all (creatures) rest in you; diffuser of light, come to us with your spacious car; possessor of wondrous wealth, hear our invocation.

उषो वाजं हि वंस्व यश्चित्रो मानुषे जने । तेना वह सुकृतो अध्वराँ उप ये त्वा गृणन्ति वह्नयः ॥

uṣo vājaṃ hi vaṃsva yaścitro mānuṣe jane | tenā vaha sukṛto adhvarā~ upa ye tvā gṛṇanti vahnayaḥ ||

Uṣas, accept the (sacrificial) food which of many kinds exists among the human race, and thereby bring to the ceremony the pious, who offering oblations, praise you.

विश्वान्देवाँ आ वह सोमपीतयेऽन्तरिक्षादुषस्त्वम् । सास्मासु धा गोमदश्वावदुक्थ्यमुषो वाजं सुवीर्यम् ॥

viśvāndevā~ ā vaha somapītaye'ntarikṣāduṣastvam | sāsmāsu dhā gomadaśvāvadukthyamuṣo vājaṃ suvīryam ||

Uṣas, bring from the firmament all the gods, to drink the Soma, and to you yourself bestow upon us excellent and invigorating food, along with cattle and horses.

यस्या रुशन्तो अर्चयः प्रति भद्रा अदृक्षत । सा नो रयिं विश्ववारं सुपेशसमुषा ददातु सुग्म्यम् ॥

yasyā ruśanto arcayaḥ prati bhadrā adṛkṣata | sā no rayiṃ viśvavāraṃ supeśasamuṣā dadātu sugmyam ||

May that Uṣas whose bright auspicious rays are visible all around, grant us desirable, agreeable, and easily-attainable riches.

ये चिद्धि त्वामृषयः पूर्व ऊतये जुहूरेऽवसे महि । सा नः स्तोमाँ अभि गृणीहि राधसोषः शुक्रेण शोचिषा ॥

ye ciddhi tvāmṛṣayaḥ pūrva ūtaye juhūre'vase mahi | sā naḥ stomā~ abhi gṛṇīhi rādhasoṣaḥ śukreṇa śociṣā ||

Adorable Uṣas, whom the ancient sages invoked for protection and for food, do you, (radiant) with pure light, (plural ased) by our offerings, accept our praises.

उषो यदद्य भानुना वि द्वारावृणवो दिवः । प्र नो यच्छतादवृकं पृथु च्छर्दिः प्र देवि गोमतीरिषः ॥

uṣo yadadya bhānunā vi dvārāvṛṇavo divaḥ | pra no yacchatādavṛkaṃ pṛthu cchardiḥ pra devi gomatīriṣaḥ ||

Uṣas, since you have today set upon the two gates of heaven with light, grant us a spacious and secure habitation; bestow upon us, goddess, cattle and food.

सं नो राया बृहता विश्वपेशसा मिमिक्ष्वा समिऴाभिरा । सं द्युम्नेन विश्वतुरोषो महि सं वाजैर्वाजिनीवति ॥

saṃ no rāyā bṛhatā viśvapeśasā mimikṣvā samiḻābhirā | saṃ dyumnena viśvaturoṣo mahi saṃ vājairvājinīvati ||

Adorable Uṣas, associate us with much and multiform wealth, and with abundant cattle, with all foe-confounding fame, and giver of sustenance, with food.
