[rv-1-45] • 10 श्लोकाः

त्वमग्ने वसूँरिह रुद्राँ आदित्याँ उत । यजा स्वध्वरं जनं मनुजातं घृतप्रुषम् ॥

tvamagne vasū~riha rudrā~ ādityā~ uta | yajā svadhvaraṃ janaṃ manujātaṃ ghṛtapruṣam ||

Agni, do you, in this our rite, worship the Vasus, the Rudras, the Ādityas, or any other (living) being sprung from Manu, sacrificing well and sprinkling water.

श्रुष्टीवानो हि दाशुषे देवा अग्ने विचेतसः । तान्रोहिदश्व गिर्वणस्त्रयस्त्रिंशतमा वह ॥

śruṣṭīvāno hi dāśuṣe devā agne vicetasaḥ | tānrohidaśva girvaṇastrayastriṃśatamā vaha ||

Verily the discriminating gods are givers of rewards to the offerer (of oblations); lord of red coursers, propitiated by our praises, bring hither the three and thirty divinities.

प्रियमेधवदत्रिवज्जातवेदो विरूपवत् । अङ्गिरस्वन्महिव्रत प्रस्कण्वस्य श्रुधी हवम् ॥

priyamedhavadatrivajjātavedo virūpavat | aṅgirasvanmahivrata praskaṇvasya śrudhī havam ||

Agni, accomplisher of solemn acts, cognisant of all who are born, hear the invocation of praskaṇva, as you have heard those of Priyamedha of Atri, of Virūpa, of Aṅgiras.

महिकेरव ऊतये प्रियमेधा अहूषत । राजन्तमध्वराणामग्निं शुक्रेण शोचिषा ॥

mahikerava ūtaye priyamedhā ahūṣata | rājantamadhvarāṇāmagniṃ śukreṇa śociṣā ||

The performers of great ceremonies, the offerers of acceptable sacrifices, have invoked for (their protection), Agni, shining amidst the solemnities, with pure resplendence.

घृताहवन सन्त्येमा उ षु श्रुधी गिरः । याभिः कण्वस्य सूनवो हवन्तेऽवसे त्वा ॥

ghṛtāhavana santyemā u ṣu śrudhī giraḥ | yābhiḥ kaṇvasya sūnavo havante'vase tvā ||

Invoked by oblations, giver of rewards, listen to these praises with which the sons of Kaṇva invoke you for protection.

त्वां चित्रश्रवस्तम हवन्ते विक्षु जन्तवः । शोचिष्केशं पुरुप्रियाग्ने हव्याय वोऴ्हवे ॥

tvāṃ citraśravastama havante vikṣu jantavaḥ | śociṣkeśaṃ purupriyāgne havyāya voḻhave ||

Agni, granter of abundant sustenance, who are beloved of many, the sons of men invoke you, radiant-haired, to bear the oblation (to the gods).

नि त्वा होतारमृत्विजं दधिरे वसुवित्तमम् । श्रुत्कर्णं सप्रथस्तमं विप्रा अग्ने दिविष्टिषु ॥

ni tvā hotāramṛtvijaṃ dadhire vasuvittamam | śrutkarṇaṃ saprathastamaṃ viprā agne diviṣṭiṣu ||

The wise have plural ced you, Agni, in (their) sacrifices as the invoker, the ministrant priest, the donor of vast wealth, the quick-hearing the far-renowned.

आ त्वा विप्रा अचुच्यवुः सुतसोमा अभि प्रयः । बृहद्भा बिभ्रतो हविरग्ने मर्ताय दाशुषे ॥

ā tvā viprā acucyavuḥ sutasomā abhi prayaḥ | bṛhadbhā bibhrato haviragne martāya dāśuṣe ||

The wise (priests), with effused libations of Soma juice, have summoned you, vast and brilliant Agni, to partake of the (sacrificial food) as they hold the oblation on the part of the individual who presents it.

प्रातर्याव्णः सहस्कृत सोमपेयाय सन्त्य । इहाद्य दैव्यं जनं बर्हिरा सादया वसो ॥

prātaryāvṇaḥ sahaskṛta somapeyāya santya | ihādya daivyaṃ janaṃ barhirā sādayā vaso ||

Strength-genitive rated, giver of rewards, provider of dwellings, plural ce here today upon the sacred grass the morning-moving deities, or (other) deified being, to drink the Soma juice.

अर्वाञ्चं दैव्यं जनमग्ने यक्ष्व सहूतिभिः । अयं सोमः सुदानवस्तं पात तिरोअह्न्यम् ॥

arvāñcaṃ daivyaṃ janamagne yakṣva sahūtibhiḥ | ayaṃ somaḥ sudānavastaṃ pāta tiroahnyam ||

Worship with conjoint invocations, Agni, the present deified being; bounteous divinities, this is the Soma juice; drink it, for it was yesterday expressed.
