[rv-1-34] • 12 श्लोकाः

त्रिश्चिन्नो अद्या भवतं नवेदसा विभुर्वां याम उत रातिरश्विना । युवोर्हि यन्त्रं हिम्येव वाससोऽभ्यायंसेन्या भवतं मनीषिभिः ॥

triścinno adyā bhavataṃ navedasā vibhurvāṃ yāma uta rātiraśvinā | yuvorhi yantraṃ himyeva vāsaso'bhyāyaṃsenyā bhavataṃ manīṣibhiḥ ||

Wise Aśvins, be present with us thrice today; vast is your vehicle, as well as your munificence; your union is like that of the shining (day) and dewy (night); (suffer yourselves) to be detained by the learned (priests).

त्रयः पवयो मधुवाहने रथे सोमस्य वेनामनु विश्व इद्विदुः । त्रयः स्कम्भासः स्कभितास आरभे त्रिर्नक्तं याथस्त्रिर्वश्विना दिवा ॥

trayaḥ pavayo madhuvāhane rathe somasya venāmanu viśva idviduḥ | trayaḥ skambhāsaḥ skabhitāsa ārabhe trirnaktaṃ yāthastrirvaśvinā divā ||

Three are the solid (wheels) of your abundance-bearing chariot, as all (the gods) have known (it to be), when attendant on Vena, the beloved of Soma; three are the columns plural ced (above it) for support, and in it thrice do you journey by night, and thrice by day.

समाने अहन्त्रिरवद्यगोहना त्रिरद्य यज्ञं मधुना मिमिक्षतम् । त्रिर्वाजवतीरिषो अश्विना युवं दोषा अस्मभ्यमुषसश्च पिन्वतम् ॥

samāne ahantriravadyagohanā triradya yajñaṃ madhunā mimikṣatam | trirvājavatīriṣo aśvinā yuvaṃ doṣā asmabhyamuṣasaśca pinvatam ||

Thrice in one entire day do you repair the faults (of your worshippers); thrice today sprinkle the oblation with sweetness; and thrice, evening and morning, Aśvins, grant us strength-bestowing food.

त्रिर्वर्तिर्यातं त्रिरनुव्रते जने त्रिः सुप्राव्ये त्रेधेव शिक्षतम् । त्रिर्नान्द्यं वहतमश्विना युवं त्रिः पृक्षो अस्मे अक्षरेव पिन्वतम् ॥

trirvartiryātaṃ triranuvrate jane triḥ suprāvye tredheva śikṣatam | trirnāndyaṃ vahatamaśvinā yuvaṃ triḥ pṛkṣo asme akṣareva pinvatam ||

Thrice, Aśvins, visit our dwelling, and the man who is well-disposed towards us; thrice repair to him who deserves your protection, and instrumental uct us in three-fold knowledge; thrice grant us gratifying (rewards); thrice shower upon us food, as (Indra pours down) rain.

त्रिर्नो रयिं वहतमश्विना युवं त्रिर्देवताता त्रिरुतावतं धियः । त्रिः सौभगत्वं त्रिरुत श्रवांसि नस्त्रिष्ठं वां सूरे दुहिता रुहद्रथम् ॥

trirno rayiṃ vahatamaśvinā yuvaṃ trirdevatātā trirutāvataṃ dhiyaḥ | triḥ saubhagatvaṃ triruta śravāṃsi nastriṣṭhaṃ vāṃ sūre duhitā ruhadratham ||

Aśvins, thrice bestow upon us riches; thrice approach the divine rite; thrice preserve our intellects; thrice grant us prosperity, thrice food. The daughter of the sun has ascended your three-wheeled car.

त्रिर्नो अश्विना दिव्यानि भेषजा त्रिः पार्थिवानि त्रिरु दत्तमद्भ्यः । ओमानं शंयोर्ममकाय सूनवे त्रिधातु शर्म वहतं शुभस्पती ॥

trirno aśvinā divyāni bheṣajā triḥ pārthivāni triru dattamadbhyaḥ | omānaṃ śaṃyormamakāya sūnave tridhātu śarma vahataṃ śubhaspatī ||

Thrice grant us, Aśvins, the medicaments of heaven, and those of earth, and those of the firmament; give to my son the prosperity of Śamyu; cherishers of wholesome (herbs), preserve the well-being of the three humours (of the body).

त्रिर्नो अश्विना यजता दिवेदिवे परि त्रिधातु पृथिवीमशायतम् । तिस्रो नासत्या रथ्या परावत आत्मेव वातः स्वसराणि गच्छतम् ॥

trirno aśvinā yajatā divedive pari tridhātu pṛthivīmaśāyatam | tisro nāsatyā rathyā parāvata ātmeva vātaḥ svasarāṇi gacchatam ||

Aśvins, who are to be thrice worshipped, day by day, repose on the triple (couch of) sacred grass upon the earth, (that form the altar); car-borne Nāsatyas, repair from afar to the threefold (plural ce of sacrifice), as the vital air to (living) bodies.

त्रिरश्विना सिन्धुभिः सप्तमातृभिस्त्रय आहावास्त्रेधा हविष्कृतम् । तिस्रः पृथिवीरुपरि प्रवा दिवो नाकं रक्षेथे द्युभिरक्तुभिर्हितम् ॥

triraśvinā sindhubhiḥ saptamātṛbhistraya āhāvāstredhā haviṣkṛtam | tisraḥ pṛthivīrupari pravā divo nākaṃ rakṣethe dyubhiraktubhirhitam ||

Come, Aśvins, thrice with the seven mother-sttreams; the three rivers are ready; the triple oblation is prepared; rising above the three worlds, you defend the sun in the sky, who is established for both night and day.

क्व त्री चक्रा त्रिवृतो रथस्य क्व त्रयो वन्धुरो ये सनीऴाः । कदा योगो वाजिनो रासभस्य येन यज्ञं नासत्योपयाथः ॥

kva trī cakrā trivṛto rathasya kva trayo vandhuro ye sanīḻāḥ | kadā yogo vājino rāsabhasya yena yajñaṃ nāsatyopayāthaḥ ||

Where, Nāsatyas, ae the three wheels of your triangular car? where the three fastenings and props (of the awning?) When will be the harnessing of the powerful ass, that you may come to the sacrifice?

आ नासत्या गच्छतं हूयते हविर्मध्वः पिबतं मधुपेभिरासभिः । युवोर्हि पूर्वं सवितोषसो रथमृताय चित्रं घृतवन्तमिष्यति ॥

ā nāsatyā gacchataṃ hūyate havirmadhvaḥ pibataṃ madhupebhirāsabhiḥ | yuvorhi pūrvaṃ savitoṣaso rathamṛtāya citraṃ ghṛtavantamiṣyati ||

Come, Nāsatyas, to the sacrifice; the oblation is offered; drink the juice with mouths that relish the sweet savour. Before dawn, even, Savitā send (to bring you) to the rite, your wonderful car shining with clarified butter.

आ नासत्या त्रिभिरेकादशैरिह देवेभिर्यातं मधुपेयमश्विना । प्रायुस्तारिष्टं नी रपांसि मृक्षतं सेधतं द्वेषो भवतं सचाभुवा ॥

ā nāsatyā tribhirekādaśairiha devebhiryātaṃ madhupeyamaśvinā | prāyustāriṣṭaṃ nī rapāṃsi mṛkṣataṃ sedhataṃ dveṣo bhavataṃ sacābhuvā ||

Come, Nāsatyas, with the thrice eleven divinities; come, Aśvins, to drink the oblation prolong our lives, efface our faults, restrain our enemies, and be ever with us.

आ नो अश्विना त्रिवृता रथेनार्वाञ्चं रयिं वहतं सुवीरम् । शृण्वन्ता वामवसे जोहवीमि वृधे च नो भवतं वाजसातौ ॥

ā no aśvinā trivṛtā rathenārvāñcaṃ rayiṃ vahataṃ suvīram | śṛṇvantā vāmavase johavīmi vṛdhe ca no bhavataṃ vājasātau ||

Borne in your car that traverses the three worlds, bring to us Aśvins, present affluence, attended by (male) progeny; I call upon you both, listening to me, for protection; be to us for vigour in battle.
