[rv-1-28] • 9 श्लोकाः

यत्र ग्रावा पृथुबुध्न ऊर्ध्वो भवति सोतवे । उलूखलसुतानामवेद्विन्द्र जल्गुलः ॥

yatra grāvā pṛthubudhna ūrdhvo bhavati sotave | ulūkhalasutānāmavedvindra jalgulaḥ ||

Indra, as the broad-based stone is raised to express the Soma juice, recognize and partake of the effusion of the mortar.

यत्र द्वाविव जघनाधिषवण्या कृता । उलूखलसुतानामवेद्विन्द्र जल्गुलः ॥

yatra dvāviva jaghanādhiṣavaṇyā kṛtā | ulūkhalasutānāmavedvindra jalgulaḥ ||

Indra, (in the rite) in which the two patters for containing the juice, as (broad as a woman's) hips, are employed, recognize and partake of the effusion of the mortar.

यत्र नार्यपच्यवमुपच्यवं च शिक्षते । उलूखलसुतानामवेद्विन्द्र जल्गुलः ॥

yatra nāryapacyavamupacyavaṃ ca śikṣate | ulūkhalasutānāmavedvindra jalgulaḥ ||

Indra, (in the rite) in which the housewife repeats egress from and ingress into (the sacrificial chamber), recognize and partake of the effusion of the mortar.

यत्र मन्थां विबध्नते रश्मीन्यमितवा इव । उलूखलसुतानामवेद्विन्द्र जल्गुलः ॥

yatra manthāṃ vibadhnate raśmīnyamitavā iva | ulūkhalasutānāmavedvindra jalgulaḥ ||

When they bind the churning-staff (with a cord), like reins to restrain (a horse), Indra, recognize and partake of the effusion of the mortar.

यच्चिद्धि त्वं गृहेगृह उलूखलक युज्यसे । इह द्युमत्तमं वद जयतामिव दुन्दुभिः ॥

yacciddhi tvaṃ gṛhegṛha ulūkhalaka yujyase | iha dyumattamaṃ vada jayatāmiva dundubhiḥ ||

If indeed, O Mortar, you are present in every house, give forth (in this rite) a lusty sound, like the drum of a victorious host.

उत स्म ते वनस्पते वातो वि वात्यग्रमित् । अथो इन्द्राय पातवे सुनु सोममुलूखल ॥

uta sma te vanaspate vāto vi vātyagramit | atho indrāya pātave sunu somamulūkhala ||

Lorf of the forest, as the wind genitive ly blows before you, so do thou, O Mortar, prepare the Soma juice for the beverage of Indra.

आयजी वाजसातमा ता ह्युच्चा विजर्भृतः । हरी इवान्धांसि बप्सता ॥

āyajī vājasātamā tā hyuccā vijarbhṛtaḥ | harī ivāndhāṃsi bapsatā ||

Implements of sacrifice, bestowers of food, loud-sounding, sport like the horses of Indra champing the grain.

ता नो अद्य वनस्पती ऋष्वावृष्वेभिः सोतृभिः । इन्द्राय मधुमत्सुतम् ॥

tā no adya vanaspatī ṛṣvāvṛṣvebhiḥ sotṛbhiḥ | indrāya madhumatsutam ||

Do you two forest lords, of plural asing form, prepare with agreeable libations our sweet (Soma) juices for Indra.

उच्छिष्टं चम्वोर्भर सोमं पवित्र आ सृज । नि धेहि गोरधि त्वचि ॥

ucchiṣṭaṃ camvorbhara somaṃ pavitra ā sṛja | ni dhehi goradhi tvaci ||

Bring the remains of the Soma juice upon the plural tters, sprinkle it upon the blades of kuśa grass and plural ce the reminder upon the cow-hide.
