पितुं नु स्तोषं महो धर्माणं तविषीम् । यस्य त्रितो व्योजसा वृत्रं विपर्वमर्दयत् ॥

pituṃ nu stoṣaṃ maho dharmāṇaṃ taviṣīm | yasya trito vyojasā vṛtraṃ viparvamardayat ||

I glorify Pitu, the great, the upholder, the strong, by whose invigorating power Trita slew themutilated Vṛtra.

स्वादो पितो मधो पितो वयं त्वा ववृमहे । अस्माकमविता भव ॥

svādo pito madho pito vayaṃ tvā vavṛmahe | asmākamavitā bhava ||

Savoury Pitā; sweet pitā; we worship you; become our protector.

उप नः पितवा चर शिवः शिवाभिरूतिभिः । मयोभुरद्विषेण्यः सखा सुशेवो अद्वयाः ॥

upa naḥ pitavā cara śivaḥ śivābhirūtibhiḥ | mayobhuradviṣeṇyaḥ sakhā suśevo advayāḥ ||

Come to us, Pitā, auspicious with auspicious aids; a source of delight;not unpalatable; a friend well respected, and having none (but agreeable properties).

तव त्ये पितो रसा रजांस्यनु विष्ठिताः । दिवि वाता इव श्रिताः ॥

tava tye pito rasā rajāṃsyanu viṣṭhitāḥ | divi vātā iva śritāḥ ||

Your flavours, Pitā, are diffused through the regions, as the winds are spread through the sky.

तव त्ये पितो ददतस्तव स्वादिष्ठ ते पितो । प्र स्वाद्मानो रसानां तुविग्रीवा इवेरते ॥

tava tye pito dadatastava svādiṣṭha te pito | pra svādmāno rasānāṃ tuvigrīvā iverate ||

Those (men), Pitā, (are the enjoyers of your bounty), who are your distributors, most sweet Pitā, (to others); they who are the relishers of your flavours, are as if they had stiff necks.

त्वे पितो महानां देवानां मनो हितम् । अकारि चारु केतुना तवाहिमवसावधीत् ॥

tve pito mahānāṃ devānāṃ mano hitam | akāri cāru ketunā tavāhimavasāvadhīt ||

The thoughts of the mighty gods are fixed, Pitā, upon you; by your kind and intelligent assistance, (Indra) slew Ahi.

यददो पितो अजगन्विवस्व पर्वतानाम् । अत्रा चिन्नो मधो पितोऽरं भक्षाय गम्याः ॥

yadado pito ajaganvivasva parvatānām | atrā cinno madho pito'raṃ bhakṣāya gamyāḥ ||

When, Pitā, this (product) of the water-wealthy clouds, (the rain), arrives; then do you, sweet Pitā, be at hand with sufficiency for our eating.

यदपामोषधीनां परिंशमारिशामहे । वातापे पीव इद्भव ॥

yadapāmoṣadhīnāṃ pariṃśamāriśāmahe | vātāpe pīva idbhava ||

And since we enjoy the abundance of the waters and the plural nts; therefore, Body, do you grow fat.

यत्ते सोम गवाशिरो यवाशिरो भजामहे । वातापे पीव इद्भव ॥

yatte soma gavāśiro yavāśiro bhajāmahe | vātāpe pīva idbhava ||

And since we enjoy, Soma, your mixture with boiled milk or boiled barley; therefore, Body, do you grow fat.

करम्भ ओषधे भव पीवो वृक्क उदारथिः । वातापे पीव इद्भव ॥

karambha oṣadhe bhava pīvo vṛkka udārathiḥ | vātāpe pīva idbhava ||

Vegetable cake of fried meal, do you be substantial, wholesome, and invigorating; and, Body, do you grow fat.

तं त्वा वयं पितो वचोभिर्गावो न हव्या सुषूदिम । देवेभ्यस्त्वा सधमादमस्मभ्यं त्वा सधमादम् ॥

taṃ tvā vayaṃ pito vacobhirgāvo na havyā suṣūdima | devebhyastvā sadhamādamasmabhyaṃ tvā sadhamādam ||

We extract from you, Pitā, by our praises, (the sacrificial food), as cows yield butter for oblation; from you, who are exhilarating to the gods; exhilarating also to us.
