[rv-1-188] • 11 श्लोकाः

समिद्धो अद्य राजसि देवो देवैः सहस्रजित् । दूतो हव्या कविर्वह ॥

samiddho adya rājasi devo devaiḥ sahasrajit | dūto havyā kavirvaha ||

You shine today, divine conqueror of thousands, kindled by the priests; do you, who are the sapient messenger (of the gods), convey (to them) our oblation.

तनूनपादृतं यते मध्वा यज्ञः समज्यते । दधत्सहस्रिणीरिषः ॥

tanūnapādṛtaṃ yate madhvā yajñaḥ samajyate | dadhatsahasriṇīriṣaḥ ||

The adorable Tanūnapāt proceeds to the rite and combines with the oblation, bearing (for the sacrificer) infinite (abundance of) food.

आजुह्वानो न ईड्यो देवाँ आ वक्षि यज्ञियान् । अग्ने सहस्रसा असि ॥

ājuhvāno na īḍyo devā~ ā vakṣi yajñiyān | agne sahasrasā asi ||

Agni, who are to be glorified, bring hither, being invoked by us, the adorable gods, for you are the donor of thousands.

प्राचीनं बर्हिरोजसा सहस्रवीरमस्तृणन् । यत्रादित्या विराजथ ॥

prācīnaṃ barhirojasā sahasravīramastṛṇan | yatrādityā virājatha ||

By the power (of their prayers) they have strewn the sacred grass, the seat of numerous heroes, pointing to the east; on which, Ādityas, you are manifest.

विराट् सम्राड्विभ्वीः प्रभ्वीर्बह्वीश्च भूयसीश्च याः । दुरो घृतान्यक्षरन् ॥

virāṭ samrāḍvibhvīḥ prabhvīrbahvīśca bhūyasīśca yāḥ | duro ghṛtānyakṣaran ||

They have sprinkled water on the doors (of the hall of sacrifice), which are variously and perfectly radiant, manifold, excellent, many, and numerous.

सुरुक्मे हि सुपेशसाधि श्रिया विराजतः । उषासावेह सीदताम् ॥

surukme hi supeśasādhi śriyā virājataḥ | uṣāsāveha sīdatām ||

Let the brilliant and beautiful Day and Night, who shine with surpassing lustre, sit down here (upon the sacred grass).

प्रथमा हि सुवाचसा होतारा दैव्या कवी । यज्ञं नो यक्षतामिमम् ॥

prathamā hi suvācasā hotārā daivyā kavī | yajñaṃ no yakṣatāmimam ||

Let these two chief, well-spoken, divine sages, the invokers (of the gods), perform this our sacrifice.

भारतीऴे सरस्वति या वः सर्वा उपब्रुवे । ता नश्चोदयत श्रिये ॥

bhāratīḻe sarasvati yā vaḥ sarvā upabruve | tā naścodayata śriye ||

Bhāratī, Iḷā, Sarasvatī, I invoke you all, that you may direct us to prosperity.

त्वष्टा रूपाणि हि प्रभुः पशून्विश्वान्त्समानजे । तेषां नः स्फातिमा यज ॥

tvaṣṭā rūpāṇi hi prabhuḥ paśūnviśvāntsamānaje | teṣāṃ naḥ sphātimā yaja ||

Tvaṣṭā, who is the master (in fashioning) the forms (of beings), has made all animals distinct; grant us, (Tvaṣṭa), their increase.

उप त्मन्या वनस्पते पाथो देवेभ्यः सृज । अग्निर्हव्यानि सिष्वदत् ॥

upa tmanyā vanaspate pātho devebhyaḥ sṛja | agnirhavyāni siṣvadat ||

Vanaspati, deliver of yourself the victim to the gods, so that Agni may taste the oblation.

पुरोगा अग्निर्देवानां गायत्रेण समज्यते । स्वाहाकृतीषु रोचते ॥

purogā agnirdevānāṃ gāyatreṇa samajyate | svāhākṛtīṣu rocate ||
