ऋग्वेद 1.148 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

मथीद्यदीं विष्टो मातरिश्वा होतारं विश्वाप्सुं विश्वदेव्यम् । नि यं दधुर्मनुष्यासु विक्षु स्वर्ण चित्रं वपुषे विभावम् ॥

mathīdyadīṃ viṣṭo mātariśvā hotāraṃ viśvāpsuṃ viśvadevyam | ni yaṃ dadhurmanuṣyāsu vikṣu svarṇa citraṃ vapuṣe vibhāvam ||

The wind, penetrating (amidst the fuel), has excited (Agni), the invoker (of the gods), the multiform, the minister of all the deities, whom they have established amongst mortal worshippers for the accomplishment of sacrifice, like the wonderful and variously radiant sun.

ददानमिन्न ददभन्त मन्माग्निर्वरूथं मम तस्य चाकन् । जुषन्त विश्वान्यस्य कर्मोपस्तुतिं भरमाणस्य कारोः ॥

dadānaminna dadabhanta manmāgnirvarūthaṃ mama tasya cākan | juṣanta viśvānyasya karmopastutiṃ bharamāṇasya kāroḥ ||

Let not (my enemies) prevail against me, when presenting acceptable (oblations), for (Agni) is desirous of my so offered adoration, and all they (the gods) are gratified by the (pious) acts of me, the reciter of their praise, and the celebrator (of the sacrifice).

नित्ये चिन्नु यं सदने जगृभ्रे प्रशस्तिभिर्दधिरे यज्ञियासः । प्र सू नयन्त गृभयन्त इष्टावश्वासो न रथ्यो रारहाणाः ॥

nitye cinnu yaṃ sadane jagṛbhre praśastibhirdadhire yajñiyāsaḥ | pra sū nayanta gṛbhayanta iṣṭāvaśvāso na rathyo rārahāṇāḥ ||

Him, whom the worshippers lay hold of in his perpetual abode, they detain by their praises, and the holders convey him diligently to the sacrifice, as rapid coursers, harnessed to a car, (bear the rider to his destination).

पुरूणि दस्मो नि रिणाति जम्भैराद्रोचते वन आ विभावा । आदस्य वातो अनु वाति शोचिरस्तुर्न शर्यामसनामनु द्यून् ॥

purūṇi dasmo ni riṇāti jambhairādrocate vana ā vibhāvā | ādasya vāto anu vāti śocirasturna śaryāmasanāmanu dyūn ||

The destroyer, (Agni), consumes numerous (trees) by his flames, and shares with manifold radiance in the forest; the favouring wind blows (the flames) onwards day by day, like the swift arrows (śaryā iṣavaḥ śaramayyaḥ--Nirukta 5.4) of an archer.

न यं रिपवो न रिषण्यवो गर्भे सन्तं रेषणा रेषयन्ति । अन्धा अपश्या न दभन्नभिख्या नित्यास ईं प्रेतारो अरक्षन् ॥

na yaṃ ripavo na riṣaṇyavo garbhe santaṃ reṣaṇā reṣayanti | andhā apaśyā na dabhannabhikhyā nityāsa īṃ pretāro arakṣan ||

The blind (of intellect), or those who see not (physically), detract not from his glory, whom no enemies no malevolent adversaries, harm, even whilst yet in (his) embryo (condition), for his constant encouragers defend him.
