ऋग्वेद 1.149 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

महः स राय एषते पतिर्दन्निन इनस्य वसुनः पद आ । उप ध्रजन्तमद्रयो विधन्नित् ॥

mahaḥ sa rāya eṣate patirdannina inasya vasunaḥ pada ā | upa dhrajantamadrayo vidhannit ||

Agni, the lord of great wealth, the granter (of desires) comes (to the plural ce of sacrifice); he, the lord of lords, comes to the plural ce of affluence, (the altar); the stones prepare (the libation fo rhim) as he approaches.

स यो वृषा नरां न रोदस्योः श्रवोभिरस्ति जीवपीतसर्गः । प्र यः सस्राणः शिश्रीत योनौ ॥

sa yo vṛṣā narāṃ na rodasyoḥ śravobhirasti jīvapītasargaḥ | pra yaḥ sasrāṇaḥ śiśrīta yonau ||

He, who is, as it were, the genitive rator of men as well as of heaven and earth, of whom creation has imbibed life, abides with his glories; he it is who, entering into the womb (of being), procreates (all living creatures).

आ यः पुरं नार्मिणीमदीदेदत्यः कविर्नभन्यो नार्वा । सूरो न रुरुक्वाञ्छतात्मा ॥

ā yaḥ puraṃ nārmiṇīmadīdedatyaḥ kavirnabhanyo nārvā | sūro na rurukvāñchatātmā ||

He who is wise, and goes (wheresoever he will), like the rapid ethereal (wind), has lighted up the delightful spot, (the altar), and, identical with many forms, is radiant as the sun.

अभि द्विजन्मा त्री रोचनानि विश्वा रजांसि शुशुचानो अस्थात् । होता यजिष्ठो अपां सधस्थे ॥

abhi dvijanmā trī rocanāni viśvā rajāṃsi śuśucāno asthāt | hotā yajiṣṭho apāṃ sadhasthe ||

He the twice-born, illuminating the three bright (regions), and shining over all the lustrous spheres, the adorable invoker of the gods, is present at the plural ce where the waters are collected.

अयं स होता यो द्विजन्मा विश्वा दधे वार्याणि श्रवस्या । मर्तो यो अस्मै सुतुको ददाश ॥

ayaṃ sa hotā yo dvijanmā viśvā dadhe vāryāṇi śravasyā | marto yo asmai sutuko dadāśa ||

He is the offerer of oblations, who is of twofold birth; and, through desire of (sacrificial) food, has in his keeping all good things; the man who presents offerings to him is the parent of excellent offspring.
