[rv-1-125] • 7 श्लोकाः

प्राता रत्नं प्रातरित्वा दधाति तं चिकित्वान्प्रतिगृह्या नि धत्ते । तेन प्रजां वर्धयमान आयू रायस्पोषेण सचते सुवीरः ॥

prātā ratnaṃ prātaritvā dadhāti taṃ cikitvānpratigṛhyā ni dhatte | tena prajāṃ vardhayamāna āyū rāyaspoṣeṇa sacate suvīraḥ ||

Having come in the early morning, (Svanaya) presents precious (wealth), knowing it (to be worthy of acceptance); and having, (therefore), accepted it, (Kakṣīvat) brings it (to his father); wherewith the parent of excellent sons, maintaining his progeny, passes his life in the enjoyment of affluence.

सुगुरसत्सुहिरण्यः स्वश्वो बृहदस्मै वय इन्द्रो दधाति । यस्त्वायन्तं वसुना प्रातरित्वो मुक्षीजयेव पदिमुत्सिनाति ॥

sugurasatsuhiraṇyaḥ svaśvo bṛhadasmai vaya indro dadhāti | yastvāyantaṃ vasunā prātaritvo mukṣījayeva padimutsināti ||

May he (the Rājā) be rich in kine, in gold, in horses; may Indra grant abundant food to him who delays you, returning home in the early morning, by costly gifts, as (a hunter arrests the) wandering (animals) by his snares.

आयमद्य सुकृतं प्रातरिच्छन्निष्टेः पुत्रं वसुमता रथेन । अंशोः सुतं पायय मत्सरस्य क्षयद्वीरं वर्धय सूनृताभिः ॥

āyamadya sukṛtaṃ prātaricchanniṣṭeḥ putraṃ vasumatā rathena | aṃśoḥ sutaṃ pāyaya matsarasya kṣayadvīraṃ vardhaya sūnṛtābhiḥ ||

Desirous (of again beholding you), I have this day obtained you, who have done in the morning a good deed; the performer of a sacrifice with a wealth-laden car, refresh yoursel fwiththe effused libation of the exhilarating (Soma), and augment with sincere prayers (the prosperity) of the chief of the flourishing race.

उप क्षरन्ति सिन्धवो मयोभुव ईजानं च यक्ष्यमाणं च धेनवः । पृणन्तं च पपुरिं च श्रवस्यवो घृतस्य धारा उप यन्ति विश्वतः ॥

upa kṣaranti sindhavo mayobhuva ījānaṃ ca yakṣyamāṇaṃ ca dhenavaḥ | pṛṇantaṃ ca papuriṃ ca śravasyavo ghṛtasya dhārā upa yanti viśvataḥ ||

The copiously-yielding and joy-conferringkine, distil (their milk) for the celebration of the (Soma) sacrifice; and for him who has undertaken its celebration; the nutritious streams of butter coverage from every quarter towards him, who both propitiates (his progenitors), and benefits (mankind).

नाकस्य पृष्ठे अधि तिष्ठति श्रितो यः पृणाति स ह देवेषु गच्छति । तस्मा आपो घृतमर्षन्ति सिन्धवस्तस्मा इयं दक्षिणा पिन्वते सदा ॥

nākasya pṛṣṭhe adhi tiṣṭhati śrito yaḥ pṛṇāti sa ha deveṣu gacchati | tasmā āpo ghṛtamarṣanti sindhavastasmā iyaṃ dakṣiṇā pinvate sadā ||

He who propitiates (the gods), gives to the gods, and sits at ease upon the summit of heaven; to him the flowing waters bear their essence; to him this fertile (earth) ever yields abundance.

दक्षिणावतामिदिमानि चित्रा दक्षिणावतां दिवि सूर्यासः । दक्षिणावन्तो अमृतं भजन्ते दक्षिणावन्तः प्र तिरन्त आयुः ॥

dakṣiṇāvatāmidimāni citrā dakṣiṇāvatāṃ divi sūryāsaḥ | dakṣiṇāvanto amṛtaṃ bhajante dakṣiṇāvantaḥ pra tiranta āyuḥ ||

These wonderful (rewards) verily are for those who give (pious) donations; for the donors of (pious) gifts the suns shine in heaven; the givers of (pious) donations attain immortality; the givers of (pious) gifts prolong their (worldly) existence.

मा पृणन्तो दुरितमेन आरन्मा जारिषुः सूरयः सुव्रतासः । अन्यस्तेषां परिधिरस्तु कश्चिदपृणन्तमभि सं यन्तु शोकाः ॥

mā pṛṇanto duritamena āranmā jāriṣuḥ sūrayaḥ suvratāsaḥ | anyasteṣāṃ paridhirastu kaścidapṛṇantamabhi saṃ yantu śokāḥ ||

May those who propitiate (the gods), never commit degrading sin; may those who praise the gods and observe holy vows, never experience decay; may some (honourable) individual ever be their defence; and may afflictions fall upon him who does not propitiate (the gods).
