[rv-1-126] • 7 श्लोकाः

अमन्दान्त्स्तोमान्प्र भरे मनीषा सिन्धावधि क्षियतो भाव्यस्य । यो मे सहस्रममिमीत सवानतूर्तो राजा श्रव इच्छमानः ॥

amandāntstomānpra bhare manīṣā sindhāvadhi kṣiyato bhāvyasya | yo me sahasramamimīta savānatūrto rājā śrava icchamānaḥ ||

I repeat with a (willing) mind, the unreluctant praises of Bhavya, dwellingon th ebanks of the Sindhu; a prince of unequalled (might), desirous of renown, who has enabled me to celebrate a thousand sacrifices.

शतं राज्ञो नाधमानस्य निष्काञ्छतमश्वान्प्रयतान्त्सद्य आदम् । शतं कक्षीवाँ असुरस्य गोनां दिवि श्रवोऽजरमा ततान ॥

śataṃ rājño nādhamānasya niṣkāñchatamaśvānprayatāntsadya ādam | śataṃ kakṣīvā~ asurasya gonāṃ divi śravo'jaramā tatāna ||

From which genitive rous prince, soliciting (my acceptance), I, Kakṣīvat, unhesitatingly accepted a hundred niṣkas, a hundred vigorous steeds, and a hundred bulls, whereby he has spread his imperishable fame through heaven.

उप मा श्यावाः स्वनयेन दत्ता वधूमन्तो दश रथासो अस्थुः । षष्टिः सहस्रमनु गव्यमागात्सनत्कक्षीवाँ अभिपित्वे अह्नाम् ॥

upa mā śyāvāḥ svanayena dattā vadhūmanto daśa rathāso asthuḥ | ṣaṣṭiḥ sahasramanu gavyamāgātsanatkakṣīvā~ abhipitve ahnām ||

Ten chariots drawn by bay steeds, and carrying my wives, stood near me, given meby Svanaya; and a thousand and sixty cows followed; these, after a short interval of time, did Kakṣīvat deliver (to his father).

चत्वारिंशद्दशरथस्य शोणाः सहस्रस्याग्रे श्रेणिं नयन्ति । मदच्युतः कृशनावतो अत्यान्कक्षीवन्त उदमृक्षन्त पज्राः ॥

catvāriṃśaddaśarathasya śoṇāḥ sahasrasyāgre śreṇiṃ nayanti | madacyutaḥ kṛśanāvato atyānkakṣīvanta udamṛkṣanta pajrāḥ ||

Forty bay horses, (harnessed) to the chariots, lead the procession in front of a thousand (followers). The Pajras, the kinsmen of Kakṣīvat, rub down the high-spirited steeds, decorated with golden trappings.

पूर्वामनु प्रयतिमा ददे वस्त्रीन्युक्ताँ अष्टावरिधायसो गाः । सुबन्धवो ये विश्या इव व्रा अनस्वन्तः श्रव ऐषन्त पज्राः ॥

pūrvāmanu prayatimā dade vastrīnyuktā~ aṣṭāvaridhāyaso gāḥ | subandhavo ye viśyā iva vrā anasvantaḥ śrava aiṣanta pajrāḥ ||

I have accepted a prior grant, (kinsmen), for you; three and eight harnessed chariots and cattle of incalculable value; may the kindred Pajras, like well-disposed relations, be desirous of acquiring renown by their abundant offerings.

आगधिता परिगधिता या कशीकेव जङ्गहे । ददाति मह्यं यादुरी याशूनां भोज्या शता ॥

āgadhitā parigadhitā yā kaśīkeva jaṅgahe | dadāti mahyaṃ yādurī yāśūnāṃ bhojyā śatā ||

She, who, when her desires are assented to, clings as tenaciously as a feminine le weasel, and who is ripe for enjoyment, yields me infinite delight.

उपोप मे परा मृश मा मे दभ्राणि मन्यथाः । सर्वाहमस्मि रोमशा गन्धारीणामिवाविका ॥

upopa me parā mṛśa mā me dabhrāṇi manyathāḥ | sarvāhamasmi romaśā gandhārīṇāmivāvikā ||

Approach me, (husband); deem me not immature; I am covered with down like a eve of the gandhārins.
