[rv-1-104] • 9 श्लोकाः

योनिष्ट इन्द्र निषदे अकारि तमा नि षीद स्वानो नार्वा । विमुच्या वयोऽवसायाश्वान्दोषा वस्तोर्वहीयसः प्रपित्वे ॥

yoniṣṭa indra niṣade akāri tamā ni ṣīda svāno nārvā | vimucyā vayo'vasāyāśvāndoṣā vastorvahīyasaḥ prapitve ||

The altar has been raised, Indra, for your seat; hasten to sit upon it as a neighing horse (hastens to his stable); slackening the reins, and letting your coursers free, who, at the season of sacrifice, bear you night and day.

ओ त्ये नर इन्द्रमूतये गुर्नू चित्तान्त्सद्यो अध्वनो जगम्यात् । देवासो मन्युं दासस्य श्चम्नन्ते न आ वक्षन्त्सुविताय वर्णम् ॥

o tye nara indramūtaye gurnū cittāntsadyo adhvano jagamyāt | devāso manyuṃ dāsasya ścamnante na ā vakṣantsuvitāya varṇam ||

These person ns have come to Indra (to solicit) his protection; may he quickly direct them on the way; may the gods repress the wrathof the destroyer, and bring to our solemnity the obviator of evil.

अव त्मना भरते केतवेदा अव त्मना भरते फेनमुदन् । क्षीरेण स्नातः कुयवस्य योषे हते ते स्यातां प्रवणे शिफायाः ॥

ava tmanā bharate ketavedā ava tmanā bharate phenamudan | kṣīreṇa snātaḥ kuyavasya yoṣe hate te syātāṃ pravaṇe śiphāyāḥ ||

(The Asura), knowing the wealth of others, carries it off of himself; present in the water, he carries off, of himself, the foam; the two wives of Kuyava bathe with the water; may they be drowned in the depths of the Śiphā river.

युयोप नाभिरुपरस्यायोः प्र पूर्वाभिस्तिरते राष्टि शूरः । अञ्जसी कुलिशी वीरपत्नी पयो हिन्वाना उदभिर्भरन्ते ॥

yuyopa nābhiruparasyāyoḥ pra pūrvābhistirate rāṣṭi śūraḥ | añjasī kuliśī vīrapatnī payo hinvānā udabhirbharante ||

The abiding-plural ce of the vagrant (Kuyava) was concealed (in the midst) of the water; the hero increases with the waters formerly (carried off), and is renowned (throughout the world); the Añjasī, kuliśī and Vīrapatni rivers, plural asing him with their substance, sustain him with their waters.

प्रति यत्स्या नीथादर्शि दस्योरोको नाच्छा सदनं जानती गात् । अध स्मा नो मघवञ्चर्कृतादिन्मा नो मघेव निष्षपी परा दाः ॥

prati yatsyā nīthādarśi dasyoroko nācchā sadanaṃ jānatī gāt | adha smā no maghavañcarkṛtādinmā no magheva niṣṣapī parā dāḥ ||

Since the track that leads to the dwelling of the Dasyu has been seen by us, as a cow knows the way to her stall, therefore do you, Maghavan, (defend us) from his repeated violence; do not you cast away as a libertine throws away wealth.

स त्वं न इन्द्र सूर्ये सो अप्स्वनागास्त्व आ भज जीवशंसे । मान्तरां भुजमा रीरिषो नः श्रद्धितं ते महत इन्द्रियाय ॥

sa tvaṃ na indra sūrye so apsvanāgāstva ā bhaja jīvaśaṃse | māntarāṃ bhujamā rīriṣo naḥ śraddhitaṃ te mahata indriyāya ||

Excite in us, Indra, veneration for the sun, for the waters, and for those who are worthy of the praise of living beings, as exempt from sin; injure not our offspring while yet in the womb, for our trust is in yourmighty power.

अधा मन्ये श्रत्ते अस्मा अधायि वृषा चोदस्व महते धनाय । मा नो अकृते पुरुहूत योनाविन्द्र क्षुध्यद्भ्यो वय आसुतिं दाः ॥

adhā manye śratte asmā adhāyi vṛṣā codasva mahate dhanāya | mā no akṛte puruhūta yonāvindra kṣudhyadbhyo vaya āsutiṃ dāḥ ||

Hence, Indra, I meditate on you; on his (your power) has our trust been plural ced; showerer (of benefits), direct us to great wealth; consign us not, you who are invoked by many, to a destitute dwelling; give, Indra, food and drink to the hungry.

मा नो वधीरिन्द्र मा परा दा मा नः प्रिया भोजनानि प्र मोषीः । आण्डा मा नो मघवञ्छक्र निर्भेन्मा नः पात्रा भेत्सहजानुषाणि ॥

mā no vadhīrindra mā parā dā mā naḥ priyā bhojanāni pra moṣīḥ | āṇḍā mā no maghavañchakra nirbhenmā naḥ pātrā bhetsahajānuṣāṇi ||

Harm us not, Indra, abandon us not; deprive us not of the enjoyments that aare dear to us; injure not, affluent Śakra, our unborn offspring; harm not those who are capable (only of crawling) on their knees.

अर्वाङेहि सोमकामं त्वाहुरयं सुतस्तस्य पिबा मदाय । उरुव्यचा जठर आ वृषस्व पितेव नः शृणुहि हूयमानः ॥

arvāṅehi somakāmaṃ tvāhurayaṃ sutastasya pibā madāya | uruvyacā jaṭhara ā vṛṣasva piteva naḥ śṛṇuhi hūyamānaḥ ||

Come into our presence; they have called you, fond of the Soma; it is prepared; drink of it for your exhilaration; vast of limb, distend your stomach, and when invoked hear us, as a father (listens to the words of his sons).
