[rv-1-102] • 11 श्लोकाः

इमां ते धियं प्र भरे महो महीमस्य स्तोत्रे धिषणा यत्त आनजे । तमुत्सवे च प्रसवे च सासहिमिन्द्रं देवासः शवसामदन्ननु ॥

imāṃ te dhiyaṃ pra bhare maho mahīmasya stotre dhiṣaṇā yatta ānaje | tamutsave ca prasave ca sāsahimindraṃ devāsaḥ śavasāmadannanu ||

I address to you, who are mighty, this excellent hymn, because your understanding has been gratified by my praise; the gods have successively delighted that victorious Indra with the power (of praise), for the sake of prosperity and wealth.

अस्य श्रवो नद्यः सप्त बिभ्रति द्यावाक्षामा पृथिवी दर्शतं वपुः । अस्मे सूर्याचन्द्रमसाभिचक्षे श्रद्धे कमिन्द्र चरतो वितर्तुरम् ॥

asya śravo nadyaḥ sapta bibhrati dyāvākṣāmā pṛthivī darśataṃ vapuḥ | asme sūryācandramasābhicakṣe śraddhe kamindra carato vitarturam ||

The seven rivers display his glory; heaven, and earth, and sky display his visible form; the sun and moon, Indra,perform their revolution, that we may see, and have faith in what we see.

तं स्मा रथं मघवन्प्राव सातये जैत्रं यं ते अनुमदाम संगमे । आजा न इन्द्र मनसा पुरुष्टुत त्वायद्भ्यो मघवञ्छर्म यच्छ नः ॥

taṃ smā rathaṃ maghavanprāva sātaye jaitraṃ yaṃ te anumadāma saṃgame | ājā na indra manasā puruṣṭuta tvāyadbhyo maghavañcharma yaccha naḥ ||

Maghavan, despatch your chariot to bring us wealth; that victorious car which, Indra, who are much praised by us in time of war, we rejoice to behold in battle; do you, Maghavan, grant happiness to those who are devoted to you.

वयं जयेम त्वया युजा वृतमस्माकमंशमुदवा भरेभरे । अस्मभ्यमिन्द्र वरिवः सुगं कृधि प्र शत्रूणां मघवन्वृष्ण्या रुज ॥

vayaṃ jayema tvayā yujā vṛtamasmākamaṃśamudavā bharebhare | asmabhyamindra varivaḥ sugaṃ kṛdhi pra śatrūṇāṃ maghavanvṛṣṇyā ruja ||

May we, having you for our ally, overcome our adversaries in every encounter; defend our portion; render riches easily attained by us; enfeeble Maghavan, the vigour of our enemies.

नाना हि त्वा हवमाना जना इमे धनानां धर्तरवसा विपन्यवः । अस्माकं स्मा रथमा तिष्ठ सातये जैत्रं हीन्द्र निभृतं मनस्तव ॥

nānā hi tvā havamānā janā ime dhanānāṃ dhartaravasā vipanyavaḥ | asmākaṃ smā rathamā tiṣṭha sātaye jaitraṃ hīndra nibhṛtaṃ manastava ||

Many are the men who call upon you for your protection; mount your car to bring wealth to us, for your mind, Indra, is composed, and resolved of victory.

गोजिता बाहू अमितक्रतुः सिमः कर्मन्कर्मञ्छतमूतिः खजंकरः । अकल्प इन्द्रः प्रतिमानमोजसाथा जना वि ह्वयन्ते सिषासवः ॥

gojitā bāhū amitakratuḥ simaḥ karmankarmañchatamūtiḥ khajaṃkaraḥ | akalpa indraḥ pratimānamojasāthā janā vi hvayante siṣāsavaḥ ||

Your arms are the winners of cattle, your wisdom is unbounded, you are most excellent, the granter of a hundred aids in every rite; the author of war, Indra is uncontrolled; the type of strength; wherefore men, who are desirous of wealth, invoke him in various ways.

उत्ते शतान्मघवन्नुच्च भूयस उत्सहस्राद्रिरिचे कृष्टिषु श्रवः । अमात्रं त्वा धिषणा तित्विषे मह्यधा वृत्राणि जिघ्नसे पुरंदर ॥

utte śatānmaghavannucca bhūyasa utsahasrādririce kṛṣṭiṣu śravaḥ | amātraṃ tvā dhiṣaṇā titviṣe mahyadhā vṛtrāṇi jighnase puraṃdara ||

The food, Maghavan, (which is to be given by you) to men, may be more than sufficient for a hundred, oor for more, even, than a thousand; great praise has glorified you, who are without limit, whereupon you destroy your enemies.

त्रिविष्टिधातु प्रतिमानमोजसस्तिस्रो भूमीर्नृपते त्रीणि रोचना । अतीदं विश्वं भुवनं ववक्षिथाशत्रुरिन्द्र जनुषा सनादसि ॥

triviṣṭidhātu pratimānamojasastisro bhūmīrnṛpate trīṇi rocanā | atīdaṃ viśvaṃ bhuvanaṃ vavakṣithāśatrurindra januṣā sanādasi ||

Strong as a twice-twisted rope, you are the type of strength; protector of men, that are more than able to sustain the three spheres, the three luminaries, and all this world of beings, Indra, who have from birth ever been without a rival.

त्वां देवेषु प्रथमं हवामहे त्वं बभूथ पृतनासु सासहिः । सेमं नः कारुमुपमन्युमुद्भिदमिन्द्रः कृणोतु प्रसवे रथं पुरः ॥

tvāṃ deveṣu prathamaṃ havāmahe tvaṃ babhūtha pṛtanāsu sāsahiḥ | semaṃ naḥ kārumupamanyumudbhidamindraḥ kṛṇotu prasave rathaṃ puraḥ ||

We invoke you, Indra, the first among the gods; you have been the victor in battles; may Indra put foremost in the battle this our chariot, which is efficient, impetuous, and the uprooter (of all impediments).

त्वं जिगेथ न धना रुरोधिथार्भेष्वाजा मघवन्महत्सु च । त्वामुग्रमवसे सं शिशीमस्यथा न इन्द्र हवनेषु चोदय ॥

tvaṃ jigetha na dhanā rurodhithārbheṣvājā maghavanmahatsu ca | tvāmugramavase saṃ śiśīmasyathā na indra havaneṣu codaya ||

You conquer, and withhold not the booty; in trifling or in serious conflicts, we sharpen you, fierce Maghavan, for our defence; do you, therefore, inspirit us in our defiances.

विश्वाहेन्द्रो अधिवक्ता नो अस्त्वपरिह्वृताः सनुयाम वाजम् । तन्नो मित्रो वरुणो मामहन्तामदितिः सिन्धुः पृथिवी उत द्यौः ॥

viśvāhendro adhivaktā no astvaparihvṛtāḥ sanuyāma vājam | tanno mitro varuṇo māmahantāmaditiḥ sindhuḥ pṛthivī uta dyauḥ ||

May Indra daily be our vindicator, and may we, with undiverted course, enjoy abundant food; and may Mitra, Varuṇa, Aditi--ocean, earth, and heaven, preserve it to us.
