ऋग्वेद 9.78 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

प्र राजा वाचं जनयन्नसिष्यददपो वसानो अभि गा इयक्षति । गृभ्णाति रिप्रमविरस्य तान्वा शुद्धो देवानामुप याति निष्कृतम् ॥

pra rājā vācaṃ janayannasiṣyadadapo vasāno abhi gā iyakṣati | gṛbhṇāti ripramavirasya tānvā śuddho devānāmupa yāti niṣkṛtam ||

This royal (Soma) producing a sound flows forth; clothing himself with the water he advances towards the praises (of the worshipper); the sheep with its fleece lays hold of the impure form; purified he approaches the station of the gods.

इन्द्राय सोम परि षिच्यसे नृभिर्नृचक्षा ऊर्मिः कविरज्यसे वने । पूर्वीर्हि ते स्रुतयः सन्ति यातवे सहस्रमश्वा हरयश्चमूषदः ॥

indrāya soma pari ṣicyase nṛbhirnṛcakṣā ūrmiḥ kavirajyase vane | pūrvīrhi te srutayaḥ santi yātave sahasramaśvā harayaścamūṣadaḥ ||

You are effused by the priests, Soma, for Indra; you the observer of men, stimulated, intelligent, are immersed in the water; many are the paths for you to follow, infinite are the spreading green-tinted streams alighting on the cups.

समुद्रिया अप्सरसो मनीषिणमासीना अन्तरभि सोममक्षरन् । ता ईं हिन्वन्ति हर्म्यस्य सक्षणिं याचन्ते सुम्नं पवमानमक्षितम् ॥

samudriyā apsaraso manīṣiṇamāsīnā antarabhi somamakṣaran | tā īṃ hinvanti harmyasya sakṣaṇiṃ yācante sumnaṃ pavamānamakṣitam ||

The nymphs of the firmament seated in the midst flow towards the sagacious Soma; they cherish him the sprinkler of the hall of sacrifice; (the worshippers) solicit Pavamāna (the undecaying) for a boon.

गोजिन्नः सोमो रथजिद्धिरण्यजित्स्वर्जिदब्जित्पवते सहस्रजित् । यं देवासश्चक्रिरे पीतये मदं स्वादिष्ठं द्रप्समरुणं मयोभुवम् ॥

gojinnaḥ somo rathajiddhiraṇyajitsvarjidabjitpavate sahasrajit | yaṃ devāsaścakrire pītaye madaṃ svādiṣṭhaṃ drapsamaruṇaṃ mayobhuvam ||

Soma flows for us, the conqueror of cattle, of chariots, of gold, of heaven, of water, of thousandfold (wealth), whom the gods have made for (their) drinking, exhilarating, most sweet-flavoured, dropping, purple, causing happiness.

एतानि सोम पवमानो अस्मयुः सत्यानि कृण्वन्द्रविणान्यर्षसि । जहि शत्रुमन्तिके दूरके च य उर्वीं गव्यूतिमभयं च नस्कृधि ॥

etāni soma pavamāno asmayuḥ satyāni kṛṇvandraviṇānyarṣasi | jahi śatrumantike dūrake ca ya urvīṃ gavyūtimabhayaṃ ca naskṛdhi ||

Bestowing all these true riches, loving us you flow, Soma, purified; destroy our enemy whether he be far or nigh; grant us a free road and freedom from danger.
