[rv-9-12] • 9 श्लोकाः

सोमा असृग्रमिन्दवः सुता ऋतस्य सादने । इन्द्राय मधुमत्तमाः ॥

somā asṛgramindavaḥ sutā ṛtasya sādane | indrāya madhumattamāḥ ||

The most sweet-flavoured Soma libations are poured forth to Indra in the hall of sacrifice.

अभि विप्रा अनूषत गावो वत्सं न मातरः । इन्द्रं सोमस्य पीतये ॥

abhi viprā anūṣata gāvo vatsaṃ na mātaraḥ | indraṃ somasya pītaye ||

The wise (priests) call upon Indra to drink the Soma as the mother low to their calves.

मदच्युत्क्षेति सादने सिन्धोरूर्मा विपश्चित् । सोमो गौरी अधि श्रितः ॥

madacyutkṣeti sādane sindhorūrmā vipaścit | somo gaurī adhi śritaḥ ||

The wise soma, the bestower of exhilaration, dwells in the hall of (sacrifice), mixed with the waves of the river to a chant in the middle tone.

दिवो नाभा विचक्षणोऽव्यो वारे महीयते । सोमो यः सुक्रतुः कविः ॥

divo nābhā vicakṣaṇo'vyo vāre mahīyate | somo yaḥ sukratuḥ kaviḥ ||

Soma, the observant, who is the wise seer, is worshipped in the navel of the sky, the woollen filter.

यः सोमः कलशेष्वाँ अन्तः पवित्र आहितः । तमिन्दुः परि षस्वजे ॥

yaḥ somaḥ kalaśeṣvā~ antaḥ pavitra āhitaḥ | taminduḥ pari ṣasvaje ||

Indu has embraced that Soma which is collected in the sewers and has been passed through the filter.

प्र वाचमिन्दुरिष्यति समुद्रस्याधि विष्टपि । जिन्वन्कोशं मधुश्चुतम् ॥

pra vācaminduriṣyati samudrasyādhi viṣṭapi | jinvankośaṃ madhuścutam ||

Indu emits a sound, abiding in the firmament of the sky, and delighting the nectar-shedding cloud.

नित्यस्तोत्रो वनस्पतिर्धीनामन्तः सबर्दुघः । हिन्वानो मानुषा युगा ॥

nityastotro vanaspatirdhīnāmantaḥ sabardughaḥ | hinvāno mānuṣā yugā ||

Soma, whose praise is eternal, the lord of forests, the shedder of nectar, and rejoicing the genitive rations of men, (is present) in the midst of our sacred rites.

अभि प्रिया दिवस्पदा सोमो हिन्वानो अर्षति । विप्रस्य धारया कविः ॥

abhi priyā divaspadā somo hinvāno arṣati | viprasya dhārayā kaviḥ ||

The sage Soma, urged from heaven, flows in a stream to the beloved abodes of his devout (worshipper).

आ पवमान धारय रयिं सहस्रवर्चसम् । अस्मे इन्दो स्वाभुवम् ॥

ā pavamāna dhāraya rayiṃ sahasravarcasam | asme indo svābhuvam ||

Purifying Indu, bestow upon us wealth of a thousand radiances, excelent in its nature.
