ऋग्वेद 8.88 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

तं वो दस्ममृतीषहं वसोर्मन्दानमन्धसः । अभि वत्सं न स्वसरेषु धेनव इन्द्रं गीर्भिर्नवामहे ॥

taṃ vo dasmamṛtīṣahaṃ vasormandānamandhasaḥ | abhi vatsaṃ na svasareṣu dhenava indraṃ gīrbhirnavāmahe ||

We offer praise with our hymns, as cows (low) to their calf in the stalls, to that handsome Indra of yours,(O priests), the overcomer of enemies, who rejoices in the excellent Soma.

द्युक्षं सुदानुं तविषीभिरावृतं गिरिं न पुरुभोजसम् । क्षुमन्तं वाजं शतिनं सहस्रिणं मक्षू गोमन्तमीमहे ॥

dyukṣaṃ sudānuṃ taviṣībhirāvṛtaṃ giriṃ na purubhojasam | kṣumantaṃ vājaṃ śatinaṃ sahasriṇaṃ makṣū gomantamīmahe ||

We solicit the radiant bounteous (Indra), surrounded by powers as a mountain (by clouds), thesupporter of many-- (we solicit him) speedily for renowned food, rich in cattle, and multiplied a hundred and athousand-fold.

न त्वा बृहन्तो अद्रयो वरन्त इन्द्र वीऴवः । यद्दित्ससि स्तुवते मावते वसु नकिष्टदा मिनाति ते ॥

na tvā bṛhanto adrayo varanta indra vīḻavaḥ | yadditsasi stuvate māvate vasu nakiṣṭadā mināti te ||

The vast firm mountains cannot stop you, Indra, whatever wealth you would give to a worshipper suchas I none can hinder you therein.

योद्धासि क्रत्वा शवसोत दंसना विश्वा जाताभि मज्मना । आ त्वायमर्क ऊतये ववर्तति यं गोतमा अजीजनन् ॥

yoddhāsi kratvā śavasota daṃsanā viśvā jātābhi majmanā | ā tvāyamarka ūtaye vavartati yaṃ gotamā ajījanan ||

By your exploits and might you are a warrior you overpower all beings by your deeds and prowess, thishymn which the Gotamas have made, causes you to turn here for their protection.

प्र हि रिरिक्ष ओजसा दिवो अन्तेभ्यस्परि । न त्वा विव्याच रज इन्द्र पार्थिवमनु स्वधां ववक्षिथ ॥

pra hi ririkṣa ojasā divo antebhyaspari | na tvā vivyāca raja indra pārthivamanu svadhāṃ vavakṣitha ||

Indra, by your might you extend beyond the limits of heaven, the region of the earth cannot contain you;design to bring us food.

नकिः परिष्टिर्मघवन्मघस्य ते यद्दाशुषे दशस्यसि । अस्माकं बोध्युचथस्य चोदिता मंहिष्ठो वाजसातये ॥

nakiḥ pariṣṭirmaghavanmaghasya te yaddāśuṣe daśasyasi | asmākaṃ bodhyucathasya coditā maṃhiṣṭho vājasātaye ||

None can hinder your bounty, Maghavan, when you give wealth to your votary, most liberal sender (ofwealth), listen to our praise for the attainment of food.
