[rv-8-79] • 9 श्लोकाः

अयं कृत्नुरगृभीतो विश्वजिदुद्भिदित्सोमः । ऋषिर्विप्रः काव्येन ॥

ayaṃ kṛtnuragṛbhīto viśvajidudbhiditsomaḥ | ṛṣirvipraḥ kāvyena ||

This all-creating Soma, obstructed by none, the conqueror of all, the producer of fruit, the seer, thewise, (is to be praised) with a hymn.

अभ्यूर्णोति यन्नग्नं भिषक्ति विश्वं यत्तुरम् । प्रेमन्धः ख्यन्निः श्रोणो भूत् ॥

abhyūrṇoti yannagnaṃ bhiṣakti viśvaṃ yatturam | premandhaḥ khyanniḥ śroṇo bhūt ||

He covers what is naked, he heals all that is sick, the blind sees, the lame walks.

त्वं सोम तनूकृद्भ्यो द्वेषोभ्योऽन्यकृतेभ्यः । उरु यन्तासि वरूथम् ॥

tvaṃ soma tanūkṛdbhyo dveṣobhyo'nyakṛtebhyaḥ | uru yantāsi varūtham ||

Soma, you offer us a wide shelter from the wasting enmities wrought by our foes.

त्वं चित्ती तव दक्षैर्दिव आ पृथिव्या ऋजीषिन् । यावीरघस्य चिद्द्वेषः ॥

tvaṃ cittī tava dakṣairdiva ā pṛthivyā ṛjīṣin | yāvīraghasya ciddveṣaḥ ||

O Ṛjīṣin, by you wisdom and might drive away the enmity of our oppressor from the heaven andearth.

अर्थिनो यन्ति चेदर्थं गच्छानिद्ददुषो रातिम् । ववृज्युस्तृष्यतः कामम् ॥

arthino yanti cedarthaṃ gacchāniddaduṣo rātim | vavṛjyustṛṣyataḥ kāmam ||

The petitioners seek for wealth, they attend the bounty of the liberal; (by you) men pour out the desireof the thirsty.

विदद्यत्पूर्व्यं नष्टमुदीमृतायुमीरयत् । प्रेमायुस्तारीदतीर्णम् ॥

vidadyatpūrvyaṃ naṣṭamudīmṛtāyumīrayat | premāyustārīdatīrṇam ||

(Soma) urges him on when the sacrificer obtains (by offerings) him old lost wealth, he lengthen out hisunending life.

सुशेवो नो मृऴयाकुरदृप्तक्रतुरवातः । भवा नः सोम शं हृदे ॥

suśevo no mṛḻayākuradṛptakraturavātaḥ | bhavā naḥ soma śaṃ hṛde ||

Most gracious and conferring joy, void of pride in your acts, and never failing, dwell, Soma, auspiciouslyin our hearts.

मा नः सोम सं वीविजो मा वि बीभिषथा राजन् । मा नो हार्दि त्विषा वधीः ॥

mā naḥ soma saṃ vīvijo mā vi bībhiṣathā rājan | mā no hārdi tviṣā vadhīḥ ||

O Soma, cause us not to tremble, frighten us not, O king; smite not our hearts with your brightness.

अव यत्स्वे सधस्थे देवानां दुर्मतीरीक्षे । राजन्नप द्विषः सेध मीढ्वो अप स्रिधः सेध ॥

ava yatsve sadhasthe devānāṃ durmatīrīkṣe | rājannapa dviṣaḥ sedha mīḍhvo apa sridhaḥ sedha ||

When in my house I watch against the enemies of the gods, then, O kind, drive away those who hateus-- O showerer of blessings, drive away those who would harm us.
