ऋग्वेद 8.42 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

अस्तभ्नाद्द्यामसुरो विश्ववेदा अमिमीत वरिमाणं पृथिव्याः । आसीदद्विश्वा भुवनानि सम्राड्विश्वेत्तानि वरुणस्य व्रतानि ॥

astabhnāddyāmasuro viśvavedā amimīta varimāṇaṃ pṛthivyāḥ | āsīdadviśvā bhuvanāni samrāḍviśvettāni varuṇasya vratāni ||

The possessor of all wealth, the powerful Varuṇa, has fixed the heaven; he has meted the measure ofthe earth; he presides as supreme monarch over all worlds; these all are the functions of Varuṇa

एवा वन्दस्व वरुणं बृहन्तं नमस्या धीरममृतस्य गोपाम् । स नः शर्म त्रिवरूथं वि यंसत्पातं नो द्यावापृथिवी उपस्थे ॥

evā vandasva varuṇaṃ bṛhantaṃ namasyā dhīramamṛtasya gopām | sa naḥ śarma trivarūthaṃ vi yaṃsatpātaṃ no dyāvāpṛthivī upasthe ||

Glorify then the mighty Varuṇa; reverence the wise guardian of the ambrosia; may he bestow upon usa thrice sheltering habitation; may heaven and earth preserve us abiding in their proximity.

इमां धियं शिक्षमाणस्य देव क्रतुं दक्षं वरुण सं शिशाधि । ययाति विश्वा दुरिता तरेम सुतर्माणमधि नावं रुहेम ॥

imāṃ dhiyaṃ śikṣamāṇasya deva kratuṃ dakṣaṃ varuṇa saṃ śiśādhi | yayāti viśvā duritā tarema sutarmāṇamadhi nāvaṃ ruhema ||

Divine Varuṇa, animate the sacred acts of me engaging in this your worship; may we ascend thesafe-bearing vessel by which we may cross all difficulties.

आ वां ग्रावाणो अश्विना धीभिर्विप्रा अचुच्यवुः । नासत्या सोमपीतये नभन्तामन्यके समे ॥

ā vāṃ grāvāṇo aśvinā dhībhirviprā acucyavuḥ | nāsatyā somapītaye nabhantāmanyake same ||

The sacred stones, Aśvins, the pious worshipers, Nāsatyās, have fallen upon their sacred functions,(to induce you) to drink the Soma; may all our enemies perish.

यथा वामत्रिरश्विना गीर्भिर्विप्रो अजोहवीत् । नासत्या सोमपीतये नभन्तामन्यके समे ॥

yathā vāmatriraśvinā gīrbhirvipro ajohavīt | nāsatyā somapītaye nabhantāmanyake same ||

In like manner as the pious Atri, Aśvins, invoked you with hymns, so (I invoke you), Nāsatyās, todrink the Soma; may all our enemies perish.

एवा वामह्व ऊतये यथाहुवन्त मेधिराः । नासत्या सोमपीतये नभन्तामन्यके समे ॥

evā vāmahva ūtaye yathāhuvanta medhirāḥ | nāsatyā somapītaye nabhantāmanyake same ||

In like manner as the wise invoke you for protection, so do I invoke you, Nāsatyās, to drink the Soma;may all our enemies perish.
