[rv-8-37] • 7 श्लोकाः

प्रेदं ब्रह्म वृत्रतूर्येष्वाविथ प्र सुन्वतः शचीपत इन्द्र विश्वाभिरूतिभिः । माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य वृत्रहन्ननेद्य पिबा सोमस्य वज्रिवः ॥

predaṃ brahma vṛtratūryeṣvāvitha pra sunvataḥ śacīpata indra viśvābhirūtibhiḥ | mādhyaṃdinasya savanasya vṛtrahannanedya pibā somasya vajrivaḥ ||

You protect, Indra, lord of rites, with all protections in combats with enemies, this sacrifice of him whooffers you the libations; slayer of Vṛtra, irreproachable wielder of the thunderbolt drink of the Soma at themid-day solemnity.

सेहान उग्र पृतना अभि द्रुहः शचीपत इन्द्र विश्वाभिरूतिभिः । माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य वृत्रहन्ननेद्य पिबा सोमस्य वज्रिवः ॥

sehāna ugra pṛtanā abhi druhaḥ śacīpata indra viśvābhirūtibhiḥ | mādhyaṃdinasya savanasya vṛtrahannanedya pibā somasya vajrivaḥ ||

Fierce Indra, defeater of hostile armies, lord of rites, (you protect) with all your protections; slayer ofVṛtra, irreproachable wielder of the thunderbolt, drink of the Soma at the mid-day solemnity.

एकराऴस्य भुवनस्य राजसि शचीपत इन्द्र विश्वाभिरूतिभिः । माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य वृत्रहन्ननेद्य पिबा सोमस्य वज्रिवः ॥

ekarāḻasya bhuvanasya rājasi śacīpata indra viśvābhirūtibhiḥ | mādhyaṃdinasya savanasya vṛtrahannanedya pibā somasya vajrivaḥ ||

You shine the sole sovereign of this world, Indra, lord of rites, with all your protections; slayer of Vṛtra,irreproachable wielder of the thunderbolt, drink of the Soma at the mid-day solemnity.

सस्थावाना यवयसि त्वमेक इच्छचीपत इन्द्र विश्वाभिरूतिभिः । माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य वृत्रहन्ननेद्य पिबा सोमस्य वज्रिवः ॥

sasthāvānā yavayasi tvameka icchacīpata indra viśvābhirūtibhiḥ | mādhyaṃdinasya savanasya vṛtrahannanedya pibā somasya vajrivaḥ ||

You alone, Indra, lord of rites, separate the combined worlds (heaven and earth) with all yourprotections; slayer of Vṛtra, irreproachable wielder of the thunderbolt, drink of the Soma at the mid-daysolemnity.

क्षेमस्य च प्रयुजश्च त्वमीशिषे शचीपत इन्द्र विश्वाभिरूतिभिः । माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य वृत्रहन्ननेद्य पिबा सोमस्य वज्रिवः ॥

kṣemasya ca prayujaśca tvamīśiṣe śacīpata indra viśvābhirūtibhiḥ | mādhyaṃdinasya savanasya vṛtrahannanedya pibā somasya vajrivaḥ ||

You, lord of rites, are sovereign over our prosperity and gains, with all your protections; slayer of Vṛtra,irreproachable wielder of the thunderbolt, drink of the Soma at the mid-day solemnity.

क्षत्राय त्वमवसि न त्वमाविथ शचीपत इन्द्र विश्वाभिरूतिभिः । माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य वृत्रहन्ननेद्य पिबा सोमस्य वज्रिवः ॥

kṣatrāya tvamavasi na tvamāvitha śacīpata indra viśvābhirūtibhiḥ | mādhyaṃdinasya savanasya vṛtrahannanedya pibā somasya vajrivaḥ ||

You are for the strength (of the world), you protect with all your protections, but you need no defender,Indra, lord of rites; slayer of Vṛtra, irreproachable wielder of the thunderbolt, drink of the Soma at the mid- daysolemnity.

श्यावाश्वस्य रेभतस्तथा शृणु यथाशृणोरत्रेः कर्माणि कृण्वतः । प्र त्रसदस्युमाविथ त्वमेक इन्नृषाह्य इन्द्र क्षत्राणि वर्धयन् ॥

śyāvāśvasya rebhatastathā śṛṇu yathāśṛṇoratreḥ karmāṇi kṛṇvataḥ | pra trasadasyumāvitha tvameka innṛṣāhya indra kṣatrāṇi vardhayan ||

Hear the praises of Śyāvāśva eulogizing you, as you have heard those of Atri engaged in piousrites; you alone have protected Trasadasyu in battle, augmenting his vigour.
