[rv-6-7] • 7 श्लोकाः

मूर्धानं दिवो अरतिं पृथिव्या वैश्वानरमृत आ जातमग्निम् । कविं सम्राजमतिथिं जनानामासन्ना पात्रं जनयन्त देवाः ॥

mūrdhānaṃ divo aratiṃ pṛthivyā vaiśvānaramṛta ā jātamagnim | kaviṃ samrājamatithiṃ janānāmāsannā pātraṃ janayanta devāḥ ||

The gods have genitive rated vaśvānara Agni, as the brow of heaven, the unceasing pervader of earth, born for (the celebration of) sacrifice, wise, imperial, the guest of men, in whose mouth (is) the vessel (that conveys the oblation to the gods).

नाभिं यज्ञानां सदनं रयीणां महामाहावमभि सं नवन्त । वैश्वानरं रथ्यमध्वराणां यज्ञस्य केतुं जनयन्त देवाः ॥

nābhiṃ yajñānāṃ sadanaṃ rayīṇāṃ mahāmāhāvamabhi saṃ navanta | vaiśvānaraṃ rathyamadhvarāṇāṃ yajñasya ketuṃ janayanta devāḥ ||

(The worshippers) glorify together, (Agni), the bond of sacrifices, the abode of riches, the great receptacle of burnt-offerings; the gods genitive rate vaśvānara, the conveyer of oblations, the emblem of sacrifice.

त्वद्विप्रो जायते वाज्यग्ने त्वद्वीरासो अभिमातिषाहः । वैश्वानर त्वमस्मासु धेहि वसूनि राजन्त्स्पृहयाय्याणि ॥

tvadvipro jāyate vājyagne tvadvīrāso abhimātiṣāhaḥ | vaiśvānara tvamasmāsu dhehi vasūni rājantspṛhayāyyāṇi ||

The offerer of (sacrificial) food becomes wise, Agni, from you heroes become the vanquishers of foes; therefore, do you, royal vaiśvānara, bestow upon us enviable riches.

त्वां विश्वे अमृत जायमानं शिशुं न देवा अभि सं नवन्ते । तव क्रतुभिरमृतत्वमायन्वैश्वानर यत्पित्रोरदीदेः ॥

tvāṃ viśve amṛta jāyamānaṃ śiśuṃ na devā abhi saṃ navante | tava kratubhiramṛtatvamāyanvaiśvānara yatpitroradīdeḥ ||

All the worshippers together praise you, immortal, Agni, when born like an infant; when you shine vaiśvānara, between the parental (heaven and earth) they obtain immortality through your (sacred) rites.

वैश्वानर तव तानि व्रतानि महान्यग्ने नकिरा दधर्ष । यज्जायमानः पित्रोरुपस्थेऽविन्दः केतुं वयुनेष्वह्नाम् ॥

vaiśvānara tava tāni vratāni mahānyagne nakirā dadharṣa | yajjāyamānaḥ pitrorupasthe'vindaḥ ketuṃ vayuneṣvahnām ||

Agni, vaiśvānara, these your mighty deeds no one can resist; when born on the lap of your parents, you have stationed the banner of the days on the paths of the firmament.

वैश्वानरस्य विमितानि चक्षसा सानूनि दिवो अमृतस्य केतुना । तस्येदु विश्वा भुवनाधि मूर्धनि वया इव रुरुहुः सप्त विस्रुहः ॥

vaiśvānarasya vimitāni cakṣasā sānūni divo amṛtasya ketunā | tasyedu viśvā bhuvanādhi mūrdhani vayā iva ruruhuḥ sapta visruhaḥ ||

The summits of the firmament are measured by the light of vaiśvānara, the manifester of ambrosial (rain); all the regions are overspread (by the vapour) on his brow, and the seven gliding (streams) spring from thence like branches.

वि यो रजांस्यमिमीत सुक्रतुर्वैश्वानरो वि दिवो रोचना कविः । परि यो विश्वा भुवनानि पप्रथेऽदब्धो गोपा अमृतस्य रक्षिता ॥

vi yo rajāṃsyamimīta sukraturvaiśvānaro vi divo rocanā kaviḥ | pari yo viśvā bhuvanāni paprathe'dabdho gopā amṛtasya rakṣitā ||

Vaiśvānara, the performer of sacred acts, is he who made the regions; foreseeing (he has made) the luminaries of heaven, and has spread throughout all worlds; the irresistibel guardian (of all), the protector of ambrosial (rain).
