ऋग्वेद 6.57 (श्लोक 1) - Project अर्थ (Artha)

इन्द्रा नु पूषणा वयं सख्याय स्वस्तये । हुवेम वाजसातये ॥

indrā nu pūṣaṇā vayaṃ sakhyāya svastaye | huvema vājasātaye ||

We invoke you, Indra and Pūṣan, for your friendship, for our well-being, and for the obtaining of food.

सोममन्य उपासदत्पातवे चम्वोः सुतम् । करम्भमन्य इच्छति ॥

somamanya upāsadatpātave camvoḥ sutam | karambhamanya icchati ||

One (of you) approaches to drink the Soma poured out into ladles, the other desires the buttered meal.

अजा अन्यस्य वह्नयो हरी अन्यस्य सम्भृता । ताभ्यां वृत्राणि जिघ्नते ॥

ajā anyasya vahnayo harī anyasya sambhṛtā | tābhyāṃ vṛtrāṇi jighnate ||

Goats are the bearers of the one, two well-fed horses of the other, and with them he destroys his foes.

यदिन्द्रो अनयद्रितो महीरपो वृषन्तमः । तत्र पूषाभवत्सचा ॥

yadindro anayadrito mahīrapo vṛṣantamaḥ | tatra pūṣābhavatsacā ||

When the showerer Indra sends down the falling and mighty waters, there is Pūṣan along with him.

तां पूष्णः सुमतिं वयं वृक्षस्य प्र वयामिव । इन्द्रस्य चा रभामहे ॥

tāṃ pūṣṇaḥ sumatiṃ vayaṃ vṛkṣasya pra vayāmiva | indrasya cā rabhāmahe ||

We depend upon the good-will of Pūṣan, and of Indra, as (we cling) to the branches of a tree.

उत्पूषणं युवामहेऽभीशूँरिव सारथिः । मह्या इन्द्रं स्वस्तये ॥

utpūṣaṇaṃ yuvāmahe'bhīśū~riva sārathiḥ | mahyā indraṃ svastaye ||

We draw to us, for our great welfare, Pūṣan and Indra, as a charioteer (pulls tight) his reins.
