[rv-6-53] • 10 श्लोकाः

वयमु त्वा पथस्पते रथं न वाजसातये । धिये पूषन्नयुज्महि ॥

vayamu tvā pathaspate rathaṃ na vājasātaye | dhiye pūṣannayujmahi ||

Pūṣan, lord of paths, we attach you to us like a chariot, for (the sake of) bringing food, and of (accomplishing our) solemnity.

अभि नो नर्यं वसु वीरं प्रयतदक्षिणम् । वामं गृहपतिं नय ॥

abhi no naryaṃ vasu vīraṃ prayatadakṣiṇam | vāmaṃ gṛhapatiṃ naya ||

Conduct us to a gracious householder, friendly to men, liberal in (bestowing) wealth, the giver of pious donations.

अदित्सन्तं चिदाघृणे पूषन्दानाय चोदय । पणेश्चिद्वि म्रदा मनः ॥

aditsantaṃ cidāghṛṇe pūṣandānāya codaya | paṇeścidvi mradā manaḥ ||

Resplendent Pūṣan, instrumental gate the niggard to liberality, soften the heart of the miser.

वि पथो वाजसातये चिनुहि वि मृधो जहि । साधन्तामुग्र नो धियः ॥

vi patho vājasātaye cinuhi vi mṛdho jahi | sādhantāmugra no dhiyaḥ ||

Pierce Pūṣan, select (fit) roads for the passage of provisions; drive away all obstructors, (thieves, or the like), so that our holy rites may be accomplished.

परि तृन्धि पणीनामारया हृदया कवे । अथेमस्मभ्यं रन्धय ॥

pari tṛndhi paṇīnāmārayā hṛdayā kave | athemasmabhyaṃ randhaya ||

Pierce with a goad the hearts of the avaricious, wise Pūṣan, and so render them complacent towards us.

वि पूषन्नारया तुद पणेरिच्छ हृदि प्रियम् । अथेमस्मभ्यं रन्धय ॥

vi pūṣannārayā tuda paṇericcha hṛdi priyam | athemasmabhyaṃ randhaya ||

Pierce with a goad, Pūṣan, the heart of the avaricious; genitive rate genitive rosity in his heart, and so render him complacent towards us.

आ रिख किकिरा कृणु पणीनां हृदया कवे । अथेमस्मभ्यं रन्धय ॥

ā rikha kikirā kṛṇu paṇīnāṃ hṛdayā kave | athemasmabhyaṃ randhaya ||

Abrade, wise Pūṣan, the hearts of the avaricious; relax (their hardness), and so render them complacent towards us.

यां पूषन्ब्रह्मचोदनीमारां बिभर्ष्याघृणे । तया समस्य हृदयमा रिख किकिरा कृणु ॥

yāṃ pūṣanbrahmacodanīmārāṃ bibharṣyāghṛṇe | tayā samasya hṛdayamā rikha kikirā kṛṇu ||

Resplendent Pūṣan, with that food-propelling goad which you bear, abrade the heart of every miser, and render it relaxed.

या ते अष्ट्रा गोपशाघृणे पशुसाधनी । तस्यास्ते सुम्नमीमहे ॥

yā te aṣṭrā gopaśāghṛṇe paśusādhanī | tasyāste sumnamīmahe ||

Resplendent Pūṣan, we ask of you the service of that your weapon, which is the guide of cows, the director of cattle.

उत नो गोषणिं धियमश्वसां वाजसामुत । नृवत्कृणुहि वीतये ॥

uta no goṣaṇiṃ dhiyamaśvasāṃ vājasāmuta | nṛvatkṛṇuhi vītaye ||

Make our pious worship productive of cows, of horses, of food, of dependants, for our enjoyment.
