[rv-5-87] • 9 श्लोकाः

प्र वो महे मतयो यन्तु विष्णवे मरुत्वते गिरिजा एवयामरुत् । प्र शर्धाय प्रयज्यवे सुखादये तवसे भन्ददिष्टये धुनिव्रताय शवसे ॥

pra vo mahe matayo yantu viṣṇave marutvate girijā evayāmarut | pra śardhāya prayajyave sukhādaye tavase bhandadiṣṭaye dhunivratāya śavase ||

May the voice-born praises of Evayāmarut reach you, Viṣṇu, attended by the Maruts; (may they reach) the strong, the adorable, the brilliantly-adorned, the vigorous, praise-loving, cloud-scattering, quick-moving company of the Maruts.

प्र ये जाता महिना ये च नु स्वयं प्र विद्मना ब्रुवत एवयामरुत् । क्रत्वा तद्वो मरुतो नाधृषे शवो दाना मह्ना तदेषामधृष्टासो नाद्रयः ॥

pra ye jātā mahinā ye ca nu svayaṃ pra vidmanā bruvata evayāmarut | kratvā tadvo maruto nādhṛṣe śavo dānā mahnā tadeṣāmadhṛṣṭāso nādrayaḥ ||

Evayāmarut glorifies those who are manifested with the great (Indra), who appear spontaneously and speedily with the knowledge (that the sacrifice is prepared); your strength in action, Maruts, is not to be resisted, (though qualified) by (your) infinite liberality; you are immoveable as mountains.

प्र ये दिवो बृहतः शृण्विरे गिरा सुशुक्वानः सुभ्व एवयामरुत् । न येषामिरी सधस्थ ईष्ट आँ अग्नयो न स्वविद्युतः प्र स्यन्द्रासो धुनीनाम् ॥

pra ye divo bṛhataḥ śṛṇvire girā suśukvānaḥ subhva evayāmarut | na yeṣāmirī sadhastha īṣṭa ā~ agnayo na svavidyutaḥ pra syandrāso dhunīnām ||

Evayāmarut, glorifies with praise those who, (coming) brilliant and happy from the vast heaven, hear (his invocation); in whose dwelling there is no one able to disturb them, and who, like self-radiant fires, are the impellers of the rivers.

स चक्रमे महतो निरुरुक्रमः समानस्मात्सदस एवयामरुत् । यदायुक्त त्मना स्वादधि ष्णुभिर्विष्पर्धसो विमहसो जिगाति शेवृधो नृभिः ॥

sa cakrame mahato nirurukramaḥ samānasmātsadasa evayāmarut | yadāyukta tmanā svādadhi ṣṇubhirviṣpardhaso vimahaso jigāti śevṛdho nṛbhiḥ ||

That wide-spreading troop (of Maruts) has issued from a spacious common dwelling-plural ce, (where) evayāmarut (awaits them) when their car has been spontaneously harnessed with its rapid horses; and, emulous, vigorous, and conferring happiness, they sally forth.

स्वनो न वोऽमवान्रेजयद्वृषा त्वेषो ययिस्तविष एवयामरुत् । येना सहन्त ऋञ्जत स्वरोचिषः स्थारश्मानो हिरण्ययाः स्वायुधास इष्मिणः ॥

svano na vo'mavānrejayadvṛṣā tveṣo yayistaviṣa evayāmarut | yenā sahanta ṛñjata svarociṣaḥ sthāraśmāno hiraṇyayāḥ svāyudhāsa iṣmiṇaḥ ||

Let not the sound (of your approach, Maruts), which is mighty, the announcer of rain,t he shedder of light, diffusive, loud, alarm Evayāmarut; that sound wherewith, overcoming (your foes), you who are self-irradiating, lasting-rayed, ornamented with golden oranaments, self-weaponed, bestowing food, accomplish your functions.

अपारो वो महिमा वृद्धशवसस्त्वेषं शवोऽवत्वेवयामरुत् । स्थातारो हि प्रसितौ संदृशि स्थन ते न उरुष्यता निदः शुशुक्वांसो नाग्नयः ॥

apāro vo mahimā vṛddhaśavasastveṣaṃ śavo'vatvevayāmarut | sthātāro hi prasitau saṃdṛśi sthana te na uruṣyatā nidaḥ śuśukvāṃso nāgnayaḥ ||

Possessor of vast strength, may your unbounded greatness, your brilliant vigour, protect Evayāmarut; for you are the regulators for overseeing (what is fit for) the limits of the sacrifice; preserve us from those who revile us, you, who are like blazing fires.

ते रुद्रासः सुमखा अग्नयो यथा तुविद्युम्ना अवन्त्वेवयामरुत् । दीर्घं पृथु पप्रथे सद्म पार्थिवं येषामज्मेष्वा महः शर्धांस्यद्भुतैनसाम् ॥

te rudrāsaḥ sumakhā agnayo yathā tuvidyumnā avantvevayāmarut | dīrghaṃ pṛthu paprathe sadma pārthivaṃ yeṣāmajmeṣvā mahaḥ śardhāṃsyadbhutainasām ||

May those Rudras, the objects of worship, like resplendent fires, protect Evayāmarut; they, whose ethereal dwelling, extended and wide, has been made illustrious (by them), and of whom, exempt from blame, the mighty energies (are manifested) in their courses.

अद्वेषो नो मरुतो गातुमेतन श्रोता हवं जरितुरेवयामरुत् । विष्णोर्महः समन्यवो युयोतन स्मद्रथ्यो न दंसनाप द्वेषांसि सनुतः ॥

adveṣo no maruto gātumetana śrotā havaṃ jariturevayāmarut | viṣṇormahaḥ samanyavo yuyotana smadrathyo na daṃsanāpa dveṣāṃsi sanutaḥ ||

Maruts, devoid of enmity, come to our proffered praise, hear the invocation of your adorer, Evayāmarut; do you, who are associated in the worship of Viṣṇu drive away, as warriors (scatter their enemies), our secret foes.

गन्ता नो यज्ञं यज्ञियाः सुशमि श्रोता हवमरक्ष एवयामरुत् । ज्येष्ठासो न पर्वतासो व्योमनि यूयं तस्य प्रचेतसः स्यात दुर्धर्तवो निदः ॥

gantā no yajñaṃ yajñiyāḥ suśami śrotā havamarakṣa evayāmarut | jyeṣṭhāso na parvatāso vyomani yūyaṃ tasya pracetasaḥ syāta durdhartavo nidaḥ ||

Adorable Maruts come to our sacrifice, so that it may be prosperous; hear, undeterred by rākṣasas, the invocation of Evayāmarut; abiding like lofty mountains in mid-heaven, do you, who are profoundly wise, be ever intolerant of the reviler.
