[rv-5-82] • 9 श्लोकाः

तत्सवितुर्वृणीमहे वयं देवस्य भोजनम् । श्रेष्ठं सर्वधातमं तुरं भगस्य धीमहि ॥

tatsaviturvṛṇīmahe vayaṃ devasya bhojanam | śreṣṭhaṃ sarvadhātamaṃ turaṃ bhagasya dhīmahi ||

We solicit of the divine Savitā enjoyable (wealth) may we receive from Bhaga that which is excellent, all sustaining, destructive of foes.

अस्य हि स्वयशस्तरं सवितुः कच्चन प्रियम् । न मिनन्ति स्वराज्यम् ॥

asya hi svayaśastaraṃ savituḥ kaccana priyam | na minanti svarājyam ||

Nothing impairs the sovereignty of this Savitā, which is most especially renowned and beloved.

स हि रत्नानि दाशुषे सुवाति सविता भगः । तं भागं चित्रमीमहे ॥

sa hi ratnāni dāśuṣe suvāti savitā bhagaḥ | taṃ bhāgaṃ citramīmahe ||

That Savitā who is Bhaga, bestows precious treasure on the donor of the offering; we solicit (of him) a valuable portion.

अद्या नो देव सवितः प्रजावत्सावीः सौभगम् । परा दुष्ष्वप्न्यं सुव ॥

adyā no deva savitaḥ prajāvatsāvīḥ saubhagam | parā duṣṣvapnyaṃ suva ||

Grant us today, divine Savitā affluence with progeny, and drive away evil dreams.

विश्वानि देव सवितर्दुरितानि परा सुव । यद्भद्रं तन्न आ सुव ॥

viśvāni deva savitarduritāni parā suva | yadbhadraṃ tanna ā suva ||

Remove from us, divine Savitā, all misfortunes; bestow upon us that which is good,

अनागसो अदितये देवस्य सवितुः सवे । विश्वा वामानि धीमहि ॥

anāgaso aditaye devasya savituḥ save | viśvā vāmāni dhīmahi ||

Let us be void of offence towards Aditi, according to the will of the divine Savitā; may we be possessed of all-desired (riches).

आ विश्वदेवं सत्पतिं सूक्तैरद्या वृणीमहे । सत्यसवं सवितारम् ॥

ā viśvadevaṃ satpatiṃ sūktairadyā vṛṇīmahe | satyasavaṃ savitāram ||

We glorify today with hymns Savitā, the protector of the good, the observer of truth (identical with) all the gods.

य इमे उभे अहनी पुर एत्यप्रयुच्छन् । स्वाधीर्देवः सविता ॥

ya ime ubhe ahanī pura etyaprayucchan | svādhīrdevaḥ savitā ||

The divine object of meditation, Savitā, who ever vigilant, precedes both night and day.

य इमा विश्वा जातान्याश्रावयति श्लोकेन । प्र च सुवाति सविता ॥

ya imā viśvā jātānyāśrāvayati ślokena | pra ca suvāti savitā ||

Savitā, who proclaims his glory to all these living beings, and gives them life.
