[rv-3-56] • 8 श्लोकाः

न ता मिनन्ति मायिनो न धीरा व्रता देवानां प्रथमा ध्रुवाणि । न रोदसी अद्रुहा वेद्याभिर्न पर्वता निनमे तस्थिवांसः ॥

na tā minanti māyino na dhīrā vratā devānāṃ prathamā dhruvāṇi | na rodasī adruhā vedyābhirna parvatā niname tasthivāṃsaḥ ||

Neither the deceptive nor the resolute interrupt the primitive and permanent operations of the gods, nor do the innocuous heaven and earth (interrupt them), nor are the mountains standing (on the earth) to be bowed down.

षड्भाराँ एको अचरन्बिभर्त्यृतं वर्षिष्ठमुप गाव आगुः । तिस्रो महीरुपरास्तस्थुरत्या गुहा द्वे निहिते दर्श्येका ॥

ṣaḍbhārā~ eko acaranbibhartyṛtaṃ varṣiṣṭhamupa gāva āguḥ | tisro mahīruparāstasthuratyā guhā dve nihite darśyekā ||

One stationary (year) sustains six burdens (in the season); the (solar) rays spread through that true and extensive (term); three revolving spheres are severally above, two of which are plural ced in secret, and one is visible.

त्रिपाजस्यो वृषभो विश्वरूप उत त्र्युधा पुरुध प्रजावान् । त्र्यनीकः पत्यते माहिनावान्त्स रेतोधा वृषभः शश्वतीनाम् ॥

tripājasyo vṛṣabho viśvarūpa uta tryudhā purudha prajāvān | tryanīkaḥ patyate māhināvāntsa retodhā vṛṣabhaḥ śaśvatīnām ||

The tree-breasted, the showerer (of rain), the omniform, the three-uddered, the parent of multiform progeny, the possessor of magnitude, followed by three hosts (the year), advances, the vigorous impregnator of the perpetual plural nts.

अभीक आसां पदवीरबोध्यादित्यानामह्वे चारु नाम । आपश्चिदस्मा अरमन्त देवीः पृथग्व्रजन्तीः परि षीमवृञ्जन् ॥

abhīka āsāṃ padavīrabodhyādityānāmahve cāru nāma | āpaścidasmā aramanta devīḥ pṛthagvrajantīḥ pari ṣīmavṛñjan ||

(The year) is awake, the path in the vicinity of those (plural nts); I call upon the beautiful name of the Ādityas; the divine waters wandering severally (now) give it delight, and (now) depart from it.

त्री षधस्था सिन्धवस्त्रिः कवीनामुत त्रिमाता विदथेषु सम्राट् । ऋतावरीर्योषणास्तिस्रो अप्यास्त्रिरा दिवो विदथे पत्यमानाः ॥

trī ṣadhasthā sindhavastriḥ kavīnāmuta trimātā vidatheṣu samrāṭ | ṛtāvarīryoṣaṇāstisro apyāstrirā divo vidathe patyamānāḥ ||

Rivers, the dwelling-plural ces of the intelligent gods are thrice three; the measurer of the three (worlds) is the sovereign at sacrifices; three feminine le (divinities) of the waters charged with the rains descend from heaven at the thrice (repeated) solemnity.

त्रिरा दिवः सवितर्वार्याणि दिवेदिव आ सुव त्रिर्नो अह्नः । त्रिधातु राय आ सुवा वसूनि भग त्रातर्धिषणे सातये धाः ॥

trirā divaḥ savitarvāryāṇi divediva ā suva trirno ahnaḥ | tridhātu rāya ā suvā vasūni bhaga trātardhiṣaṇe sātaye dhāḥ ||

Savitā, descended from heaven, bestow upon us blessings thrice everyday; Bhaga, saviour, grant us thrice a day riches of three elements; Dhiṣaṇa enable us to acquire (wealth).

त्रिरा दिवः सविता सोषवीति राजाना मित्रावरुणा सुपाणी । आपश्चिदस्य रोदसी चिदुर्वी रत्नं भिक्षन्त सवितुः सवाय ॥

trirā divaḥ savitā soṣavīti rājānā mitrāvaruṇā supāṇī | āpaścidasya rodasī cidurvī ratnaṃ bhikṣanta savituḥ savāya ||

May Savitā bestow upon us wealth at the (three periods) of the day, for the well-handed Mitra and Varuṇa, the waters, the vast heaven and earth, solicit precious things from the liberality of Savitā.

त्रिरुत्तमा दूणशा रोचनानि त्रयो राजन्त्यसुरस्य वीराः । ऋतावान इषिरा दूऴभासस्त्रिरा दिवो विदथे सन्तु देवाः ॥

triruttamā dūṇaśā rocanāni trayo rājantyasurasya vīrāḥ | ṛtāvāna iṣirā dūḻabhāsastrirā divo vidathe santu devāḥ ||

Three are the excellent uninjurable bright regions, three scions of the powerful (year) are shining; practisers of truth, quick moving, of surpassing radiance; may the deities be present thrice daily at the sacrifice.
