[rv-3-52] • 8 श्लोकाः

धानावन्तं करम्भिणमपूपवन्तमुक्थिनम् । इन्द्र प्रातर्जुषस्व नः ॥

dhānāvantaṃ karambhiṇamapūpavantamukthinam | indra prātarjuṣasva naḥ ||

Accept, Indra, at our morning sacrifice, this libation, combined with fresh barley, with parched grain and curds, and with cakes, and sanctified by holy prayer.

पुरोऴाशं पचत्यं जुषस्वेन्द्रा गुरस्व च । तुभ्यं हव्यानि सिस्रते ॥

puroḻāśaṃ pacatyaṃ juṣasvendrā gurasva ca | tubhyaṃ havyāni sisrate ||

Accept, Indra, the prepared cakes and butter; eat them eagerly; the oblations flow for you.

पुरोऴाशं च नो घसो जोषयासे गिरश्च नः । वधूयुरिव योषणाम् ॥

puroḻāśaṃ ca no ghaso joṣayāse giraśca naḥ | vadhūyuriva yoṣaṇām ||

Eat, Indra, our (offered) cakes and butter, derive enjoyment from our praises, as a lover from his mistress.

पुरोऴाशं सनश्रुत प्रातःसावे जुषस्व नः । इन्द्र क्रतुर्हि ते बृहन् ॥

puroḻāśaṃ sanaśruta prātaḥsāve juṣasva naḥ | indra kraturhi te bṛhan ||

Indra, renowned of old, accept our cakes and butter, offered at dawn; for great are your deeds.

माध्यंदिनस्य सवनस्य धानाः पुरोऴाशमिन्द्र कृष्वेह चारुम् । प्र यत्स्तोता जरिता तूर्ण्यर्थो वृषायमाण उप गीर्भिरीट्टे ॥

mādhyaṃdinasya savanasya dhānāḥ puroḻāśamindra kṛṣveha cārum | pra yatstotā jaritā tūrṇyartho vṛṣāyamāṇa upa gīrbhirīṭṭe ||

Partake, Indra, of the barley and the delicious cakes and butter of the midday sacrifice, when your zealous worshipper, hastening to adore you, and eager as a bull, is present, and celebrates (yo) with hymns.

तृतीये धानाः सवने पुरुष्टुत पुरोऴाशमाहुतं मामहस्व नः । ऋभुमन्तं वाजवन्तं त्वा कवे प्रयस्वन्त उप शिक्षेम धीतिभिः ॥

tṛtīye dhānāḥ savane puruṣṭuta puroḻāśamāhutaṃ māmahasva naḥ | ṛbhumantaṃ vājavantaṃ tvā kave prayasvanta upa śikṣema dhītibhiḥ ||

Indra, who is praised of many, accept readily from our friend of barley, and cakes, and butter, offered at the third (or evening) sacrifice; ladenwith sacrificial viands, we approach with praises to your sage Indra, who is accompanied by the ṛbhus and by Vāja.

पूषण्वते ते चकृमा करम्भं हरिवते हर्यश्वाय धानाः । अपूपमद्धि सगणो मरुद्भिः सोमं पिब वृत्रहा शूर विद्वान् ॥

pūṣaṇvate te cakṛmā karambhaṃ harivate haryaśvāya dhānāḥ | apūpamaddhi sagaṇo marudbhiḥ somaṃ piba vṛtrahā śūra vidvān ||

We have prepared the parched grain and curds for you, associated with Pūṣan; the fried barley for you, lord of the tawny horses, associated with your steeds; attend by the troop of Maruts, eat the cakes; hero, who is wise, and the slayer of Vṛtra, drink the libation.

प्रति धाना भरत तूयमस्मै पुरोऴाशं वीरतमाय नृणाम् । दिवेदिवे सदृशीरिन्द्र तुभ्यं वर्धन्तु त्वा सोमपेयाय धृष्णो ॥

prati dhānā bharata tūyamasmai puroḻāśaṃ vīratamāya nṛṇām | divedive sadṛśīrindra tubhyaṃ vardhantu tvā somapeyāya dhṛṣṇo ||

Offer to him quickly (priests) the fried barley; offer to the most heroic of leaders the cakes and butter; may the like offerings, victorious Indra, presented to you daily, augment your vigour for the drinking of the Soma.
