[rv-3-40] • 9 श्लोकाः

इन्द्र त्वा वृषभं वयं सुते सोमे हवामहे । स पाहि मध्वो अन्धसः ॥

indra tvā vṛṣabhaṃ vayaṃ sute some havāmahe | sa pāhi madhvo andhasaḥ ||

We invoke you, Indra, showerer (of benefits), to the effused libation; you drink of the exhilarating Soma.

इन्द्र क्रतुविदं सुतं सोमं हर्य पुरुष्टुत । पिबा वृषस्व तातृपिम् ॥

indra kratuvidaṃ sutaṃ somaṃ harya puruṣṭuta | pibā vṛṣasva tātṛpim ||

Indra, the praised of many, accept the effused Soma, the conferrer of knowledge; drink, imbibe the satisfactory draught.

इन्द्र प्र णो धितावानं यज्ञं विश्वेभिर्देवेभिः । तिर स्तवान विश्पते ॥

indra pra ṇo dhitāvānaṃ yajñaṃ viśvebhirdevebhiḥ | tira stavāna viśpate ||

Indra, lord of men, who is praised (by the devout) and aided by the gods, perfect this our sacrifice in which the oblation is offered (to you).

इन्द्र सोमाः सुता इमे तव प्र यन्ति सत्पते । क्षयं चन्द्रास इन्दवः ॥

indra somāḥ sutā ime tava pra yanti satpate | kṣayaṃ candrāsa indavaḥ ||

Indra, lord of the virtuous, these effused Soma juices, exhilarating and brilliant, proceed to your abode.

दधिष्वा जठरे सुतं सोममिन्द्र वरेण्यम् । तव द्युक्षास इन्दवः ॥

dadhiṣvā jaṭhare sutaṃ somamindra vareṇyam | tava dyukṣāsa indavaḥ ||

Receive, Indra, into your stomach this excellent effused libation, these bright (drops) abide with you in heaven.

गिर्वणः पाहि नः सुतं मधोर्धाराभिरज्यसे । इन्द्र त्वादातमिद्यशः ॥

girvaṇaḥ pāhi naḥ sutaṃ madhordhārābhirajyase | indra tvādātamidyaśaḥ ||

Indra, who is glorified with praise, drink this our libation, for you are sprinkled with the drops of the exhilarating (draught); the (sacrificial) food is verily purified by you.

अभि द्युम्नानि वनिन इन्द्रं सचन्ते अक्षिता । पीत्वी सोमस्य वावृधे ॥

abhi dyumnāni vanina indraṃ sacante akṣitā | pītvī somasya vāvṛdhe ||

The brilliant and imperishable (Soma), offered by the worshipper, encompasses Indra; having drunk of the libation, he increases (in vigour).

अर्वावतो न आ गहि परावतश्च वृत्रहन् । इमा जुषस्व नो गिरः ॥

arvāvato na ā gahi parāvataśca vṛtrahan | imā juṣasva no giraḥ ||

Slayer of Vṛtra, whether from nigh or from afar, come to us, accept these our praises.

यदन्तरा परावतमर्वावतं च हूयसे । इन्द्रेह तत आ गहि ॥

yadantarā parāvatamarvāvataṃ ca hūyase | indreha tata ā gahi ||

Whether you are called from nigh or from afar, or from mid-space, come hither, Indra, from thence.
