[rv-3-37] • 11 श्लोकाः

वार्त्रहत्याय शवसे पृतनाषाह्याय च । इन्द्र त्वा वर्तयामसि ॥

vārtrahatyāya śavase pṛtanāṣāhyāya ca | indra tvā vartayāmasi ||

We excite you, Indra, to exert the strength that destroys Vṛtra, and overpowers hostile armies.

अर्वाचीनं सु ते मन उत चक्षुः शतक्रतो । इन्द्र कृण्वन्तु वाघतः ॥

arvācīnaṃ su te mana uta cakṣuḥ śatakrato | indra kṛṇvantu vāghataḥ ||

May your praisers, Indra, who is worshipped in a hundred rites, direct your mind and your eyes towards us.

नामानि ते शतक्रतो विश्वाभिर्गीर्भिरीमहे । इन्द्राभिमातिषाह्ये ॥

nāmāni te śatakrato viśvābhirgīrbhirīmahe | indrābhimātiṣāhye ||

We recite, Indra, who is worshipped in a hundred rites, (your many) names in all our hymns for strength to resist our foes.

पुरुष्टुतस्य धामभिः शतेन महयामसि । इन्द्रस्य चर्षणीधृतः ॥

puruṣṭutasya dhāmabhiḥ śatena mahayāmasi | indrasya carṣaṇīdhṛtaḥ ||

We repeat the praise of the many-lauded Indra the supporter of man, invested with a hundred glories.

इन्द्रं वृत्राय हन्तवे पुरुहूतमुप ब्रुवे । भरेषु वाजसातये ॥

indraṃ vṛtrāya hantave puruhūtamupa bruve | bhareṣu vājasātaye ||

I invoke you, Indra, who is invoked of many for the slaying of Vṛtra, and the granting of food (as the spoil) of battle.

वाजेषु सासहिर्भव त्वामीमहे शतक्रतो । इन्द्र वृत्राय हन्तवे ॥

vājeṣu sāsahirbhava tvāmīmahe śatakrato | indra vṛtrāya hantave ||

Be victorious, Indra, in battles; we solicit you, object of many rites, to destroy Vṛtra.

द्युम्नेषु पृतनाज्ये पृत्सुतूर्षु श्रवस्सु च । इन्द्र साक्ष्वाभिमातिषु ॥

dyumneṣu pṛtanājye pṛtsutūrṣu śravassu ca | indra sākṣvābhimātiṣu ||

Overcome, Indra, those who are adverse to us in riches, in battle, in hostile hosts, in strength.

शुष्मिन्तमं न ऊतये द्युम्निनं पाहि जागृविम् । इन्द्र सोमं शतक्रतो ॥

śuṣmintamaṃ na ūtaye dyumninaṃ pāhi jāgṛvim | indra somaṃ śatakrato ||

Drink, Indra, object of many rites, for our preservation, the most invigorating, fame-conferring, sleep-dispelling, Soma.

इन्द्रियाणि शतक्रतो या ते जनेषु पञ्चसु । इन्द्र तानि त आ वृणे ॥

indriyāṇi śatakrato yā te janeṣu pañcasu | indra tāni ta ā vṛṇe ||

Indra, object of many rites, I regard the organs of sense, that exist in the five races (of beings dependent) on you as yours.

अगन्निन्द्र श्रवो बृहद्द्युम्नं दधिष्व दुष्टरम् । उत्ते शुष्मं तिरामसि ॥

agannindra śravo bṛhaddyumnaṃ dadhiṣva duṣṭaram | utte śuṣmaṃ tirāmasi ||

May the abundant (sacrificial) food (we offer) reach you, Indra; grant us wealth that may not easily be surpassed; we augment your vigour (by our offerings).

अर्वावतो न आ गह्यथो शक्र परावतः । उ लोको यस्ते अद्रिव इन्द्रेह तत आ गहि ॥

arvāvato na ā gahyatho śakra parāvataḥ | u loko yaste adriva indreha tata ā gahi ||

COme to us Śakra, whether from afar or nigh; whatever, Indra, wielder of the thunderbolt, be your region, come from thence hither.
