[rv-3-10] • 9 श्लोकाः

त्वामग्ने मनीषिणः सम्राजं चर्षणीनाम् । देवं मर्तास इन्धते समध्वरे ॥

tvāmagne manīṣiṇaḥ samrājaṃ carṣaṇīnām | devaṃ martāsa indhate samadhvare ||

You, the king of men; Agni, the divine; prudent mortals kindle you at the sacrifice.

त्वां यज्ञेष्वृत्विजमग्ने होतारमीऴते । गोपा ऋतस्य दीदिहि स्वे दमे ॥

tvāṃ yajñeṣvṛtvijamagne hotāramīḻate | gopā ṛtasya dīdihi sve dame ||

They praise you as the priest, the invoker (of the gods) at sacrifice; shine forth the protector of the pious rite in your own abode.

स घा यस्ते ददाशति समिधा जातवेदसे । सो अग्ने धत्ते सुवीर्यं स पुष्यति ॥

sa ghā yaste dadāśati samidhā jātavedase | so agne dhatte suvīryaṃ sa puṣyati ||

He verily who presents oblations to you, the knower of all things, he acquires (Agni) excellent progeny; he prospers.

स केतुरध्वराणामग्निर्देवेभिरा गमत् । अञ्जानः सप्त होतृभिर्हविष्मते ॥

sa keturadhvarāṇāmagnirdevebhirā gamat | añjānaḥ sapta hotṛbhirhaviṣmate ||

May (Agni), the banner (flag) of sacrifices, offering oblations on the part of the worshiper through (the ministry of) the seven offering priests, come hither with the gods.

प्र होत्रे पूर्व्यं वचोऽग्नये भरता बृहत् । विपां ज्योतींषि बिभ्रते न वेधसे ॥

pra hotre pūrvyaṃ vaco'gnaye bharatā bṛhat | vipāṃ jyotīṃṣi bibhrate na vedhase ||

Offer to the ministering Agni as if to the Creator (of the world), the great praise recited of old, for the sake of animating the energies of the pious (worshipper).

अग्निं वर्धन्तु नो गिरो यतो जायत उक्थ्यः । महे वाजाय द्रविणाय दर्शतः ॥

agniṃ vardhantu no giro yato jāyata ukthyaḥ | mahe vājāya draviṇāya darśataḥ ||

May ourhymns exalt Agni, so that he may be born more worthy of praise, and may become manifest for the purpose of (bestowing) abundant food and riches.

अग्ने यजिष्ठो अध्वरे देवान्देवयते यज । होता मन्द्रो वि राजस्यति स्रिधः ॥

agne yajiṣṭho adhvare devāndevayate yaja | hotā mandro vi rājasyati sridhaḥ ||

Agni, you are to be especially worshipped at the sacrifice; worship the gods (on behalf of) the devout (worshiper); you shine the invoker (of the gods) the exhilarator (of the pious) overcoming your foes.

स नः पावक दीदिहि द्युमदस्मे सुवीर्यम् । भवा स्तोतृभ्यो अन्तमः स्वस्तये ॥

sa naḥ pāvaka dīdihi dyumadasme suvīryam | bhavā stotṛbhyo antamaḥ svastaye ||

Do you, our purifier, light up for us a brilliant progeny; be ever nigh to those who praise you for their well-being.

तं त्वा विप्रा विपन्यवो जागृवांसः समिन्धते । हव्यवाहममर्त्यं सहोवृधम् ॥

taṃ tvā viprā vipanyavo jāgṛvāṃsaḥ samindhate | havyavāhamamartyaṃ sahovṛdham ||

The wise, intelligent, and vigilant (worshipers) kindle you, such as you (have been described), the bearer of oblations, the immortal, genitive rated by strength.
