[rv-2-6] • 8 श्लोकाः

इमां मे अग्ने समिधमिमामुपसदं वनेः । इमा उ षु श्रुधी गिरः ॥

imāṃ me agne samidhamimāmupasadaṃ vaneḥ | imā u ṣu śrudhī giraḥ ||

Agni, accept this my fuel, this my oblation; listen, well plural ased, to my praises.

अया ते अग्ने विधेमोर्जो नपादश्वमिष्टे । एना सूक्तेन सुजात ॥

ayā te agne vidhemorjo napādaśvamiṣṭe | enā sūktena sujāta ||

May we propitiate you, Agni, by this (oblation), grandsonof strength, (who are) gratified by prompt sacrifice, (may we plural ase you), well-born, by this hymn.

तं त्वा गीर्भिर्गिर्वणसं द्रविणस्युं द्रविणोदः । सपर्येम सपर्यवः ॥

taṃ tvā gīrbhirgirvaṇasaṃ draviṇasyuṃ draviṇodaḥ | saparyema saparyavaḥ ||

Granter of riches, may we, your worshippers, propitiate you, who are desirous of (sacrificial) wealth, and deserving of laudation, by our praise.

स बोधि सूरिर्मघवा वसुपते वसुदावन् । युयोध्यस्मद्द्वेषांसि ॥

sa bodhi sūrirmaghavā vasupate vasudāvan | yuyodhyasmaddveṣāṃsi ||

Lord of wealth, giver of wealth, possessor of riches, who are wise, understand (our prayers), and scatter our enemies.

स नो वृष्टिं दिवस्परि स नो वाजमनर्वाणम् । स नः सहस्रिणीरिषः ॥

sa no vṛṣṭiṃ divaspari sa no vājamanarvāṇam | sa naḥ sahasriṇīriṣaḥ ||

(For you are) he (who gives) us rain from heaven; he (who gives) us undecaying strenght, he (who gives) us infinite (abundance of) food.

ईऴानायावस्यवे यविष्ठ दूत नो गिरा । यजिष्ठ होतरा गहि ॥

īḻānāyāvasyave yaviṣṭha dūta no girā | yajiṣṭha hotarā gahi ||

Youngest (of the gods), their messenger, their invoker, most deserving of worship, come, upon our praise, to him who offers (you) adoration, and is desirous of (your) protection.

अन्तर्ह्यग्न ईयसे विद्वाञ्जन्मोभया कवे । दूतो जन्येव मित्र्यः ॥

antarhyagna īyase vidvāñjanmobhayā kave | dūto janyeva mitryaḥ ||

Sage Agni, you penetrate the innermost (man), knowing the birth of both (the worshipper and the worshipped); like a messenger favourable to men, especially to his friends.

स विद्वाँ आ च पिप्रयो यक्षि चिकित्व आनुषक् । आ चास्मिन्त्सत्सि बर्हिषि ॥

sa vidvā~ ā ca piprayo yakṣi cikitva ānuṣak | ā cāsmintsatsi barhiṣi ||

Do you, Agni, who are all-wise, fulfil (our desire); do you, who are intelligent, worship (the gods) in order; and sit down on this sacred grass.
