[rv-2-21] • 6 श्लोकाः

विश्वजिते धनजिते स्वर्जिते सत्राजिते नृजित उर्वराजिते । अश्वजिते गोजिते अब्जिते भरेन्द्राय सोमं यजताय हर्यतम् ॥

viśvajite dhanajite svarjite satrājite nṛjita urvarājite | aśvajite gojite abjite bharendrāya somaṃ yajatāya haryatam ||

Bring the desired Soma to the adorable Indra the lord of all, the lord of wealth, the lord of heaven, the perpetual lord, the lord of man, the lord of earth, the lord of horses, the lord of cattle, the lord of water.

अभिभुवेऽभिभङ्गाय वन्वतेऽषाऴ्हाय सहमानाय वेधसे । तुविग्रये वह्नये दुष्टरीतवे सत्रासाहे नम इन्द्राय वोचत ॥

abhibhuve'bhibhaṅgāya vanvate'ṣāḻhāya sahamānāya vedhase | tuvigraye vahnaye duṣṭarītave satrāsāhe nama indrāya vocata ||

Offer adoration to Indra, the overcomer, the destroyer, the munificent, the invincible, the all-enduring, the creator, the all-adorable; the sustainer, the unassailable, the ever-victorious.

सत्रासाहो जनभक्षो जनंसहश्च्यवनो युध्मो अनु जोषमुक्षितः । वृतंचयः सहुरिर्विक्ष्वारित इन्द्रस्य वोचं प्र कृतानि वीर्या ॥

satrāsāho janabhakṣo janaṃsahaścyavano yudhmo anu joṣamukṣitaḥ | vṛtaṃcayaḥ sahurirvikṣvārita indrasya vocaṃ pra kṛtāni vīryā ||

I proclaim the mighty exploits of that Indra, who is, ever victorious; the benefactor of man, the overthrower of (the strong) man, the caster down (of foes), the warrior, who is gratified by our libations, the granter of desires, the subduer of enemies, the refuge of the people.

अनानुदो वृषभो दोधतो वधो गम्भीर ऋष्वो असमष्टकाव्यः । रध्रचोदः श्नथनो वीऴितस्पृथुरिन्द्रः सुयज्ञ उषसः स्वर्जनत् ॥

anānudo vṛṣabho dodhato vadho gambhīra ṛṣvo asamaṣṭakāvyaḥ | radhracodaḥ śnathano vīḻitaspṛthurindraḥ suyajña uṣasaḥ svarjanat ||

Unequalled in liberty, the showerer (of benefits), the slayer of the malevolent, profound, mighty, (endowed with) impenetrable sagacity, the dispenser of prosperity, the enfeebler (of foes), firm (of frame), vast (in bulk) the performer of pious acts, Indra has given birth to the light of the morning.

यज्ञेन गातुमप्तुरो विविद्रिरे धियो हिन्वाना उशिजो मनीषिणः । अभिस्वरा निषदा गा अवस्यव इन्द्रे हिन्वाना द्रविणान्याशत ॥

yajñena gātumapturo vividrire dhiyo hinvānā uśijo manīṣiṇaḥ | abhisvarā niṣadā gā avasyava indre hinvānā draviṇānyāśata ||

The wise Uśijas, celebrating his praises, have obtained by their sacrifice, from the sender of water (knowledge) of the path (of their cattle); seeking the aid of Indra, and celebrating his praises, they have acquired, whilst uttering hymns and offering adoration (valuable) treasures.

इन्द्र श्रेष्ठानि द्रविणानि धेहि चित्तिं दक्षस्य सुभगत्वमस्मे । पोषं रयीणामरिष्टिं तनूनां स्वाद्मानं वाचः सुदिनत्वमह्नाम् ॥

indra śreṣṭhāni draviṇāni dhehi cittiṃ dakṣasya subhagatvamasme | poṣaṃ rayīṇāmariṣṭiṃ tanūnāṃ svādmānaṃ vācaḥ sudinatvamahnām ||

Indra, bestow upon us most excellent treasures; (give us) the reputation of ability (to celebrate sacred rites); grant us prosperity, increase of wealth, security of person n, sweetness of speech, and auspiciousness of days.
