[rv-10-80] • 7 श्लोकाः

अग्निः सप्तिं वाजम्भरं ददात्यग्निर्वीरं श्रुत्यं कर्मनिष्ठाम् । अग्नी रोदसी वि चरत्समञ्जन्नग्निर्नारीं वीरकुक्षिं पुरंधिम् ॥

agniḥ saptiṃ vājambharaṃ dadātyagnirvīraṃ śrutyaṃ karmaniṣṭhām | agnī rodasī vi caratsamañjannagnirnārīṃ vīrakukṣiṃ puraṃdhim ||

Agni gives (his worshipper) a food-acquiring steed, Agni gives (him) a valiant son, renowned,assiduous in pious works; Agni travels beautifying heaven and earth; Agni (makes) as woman the bearer of maleoff-spring (and) intelligent.

अग्नेरप्नसः समिदस्तु भद्राग्निर्मही रोदसी आ विवेश । अग्निरेकं चोदयत्समत्स्वग्निर्वृत्राणि दयते पुरूणि ॥

agnerapnasaḥ samidastu bhadrāgnirmahī rodasī ā viveśa | agnirekaṃ codayatsamatsvagnirvṛtrāṇi dayate purūṇi ||

May the fuel of the efficient Agni be auspicious; Agni has penetrated the vast heaven and earth; Agnianimates (the worshipper) alone in battles; Agni destroys numerous enemies.

अग्निर्ह त्यं जरतः कर्णमावाग्निरद्भ्यो निरदहज्जरूथम् । अग्निरत्रिं घर्म उरुष्यदन्तरग्निर्नृमेधं प्रजयासृजत्सम् ॥

agnirha tyaṃ jarataḥ karṇamāvāgniradbhyo niradahajjarūtham | agniratriṃ gharma uruṣyadantaragnirnṛmedhaṃ prajayāsṛjatsam ||

Agni verily has protected Jaratkarṇa; he has consumed Jarūtha with his flames; Agni rescued Atri inthe hot fissure; Agni furnished Nṛmedha with progeny.

अग्निर्दाद्द्रविणं वीरपेशा अग्निॠषिं यः सहस्रा सनोति । अग्निर्दिवि हव्यमा ततानाग्नेर्धामानि विभृता पुरुत्रा ॥

agnirdāddraviṇaṃ vīrapeśā agniṝṣiṃ yaḥ sahasrā sanoti | agnirdivi havyamā tatānāgnerdhāmāni vibhṛtā purutrā ||

Agni sending forth flames bestows wealth; Agni (gives a son to) the Ṛṣi who acquires a thousandcows; Agni spreads the oblation through heaven, the forms of Agni are manifested in many plural ces.

अग्निमुक्थैॠषयो वि ह्वयन्तेऽग्निं नरो यामनि बाधितासः । अग्निं वयो अन्तरिक्षे पतन्तोऽग्निः सहस्रा परि याति गोनाम् ॥

agnimukthaiṝṣayo vi hvayante'gniṃ naro yāmani bādhitāsaḥ | agniṃ vayo antarikṣe patanto'gniḥ sahasrā pari yāti gonām ||

The Ṛṣis variously invoke Agni with hymns; men when hard pressed in battle (invoke) Agni; the birdsflying in mid-heaven (invoke) Agni; Agni circumambulates thousands of cattle.

अग्निं विश ईऴते मानुषीर्या अग्निं मनुषो नहुषो वि जाताः । अग्निर्गान्धर्वीं पथ्यामृतस्याग्नेर्गव्यूतिर्घृत आ निषत्ता ॥

agniṃ viśa īḻate mānuṣīryā agniṃ manuṣo nahuṣo vi jātāḥ | agnirgāndharvīṃ pathyāmṛtasyāgnergavyūtirghṛta ā niṣattā ||

The races who are of human birth praise (Agni, so do the men descended from king Nahuṣa; Agni,(hears) the voice which is fit for the path of sacrifice; Agni's path lies everywhere in ghī.

अग्नये ब्रह्म ऋभवस्ततक्षुरग्निं महामवोचामा सुवृक्तिम् । अग्ने प्राव जरितारं यविष्ठाग्ने महि द्रविणमा यजस्व ॥

agnaye brahma ṛbhavastatakṣuragniṃ mahāmavocāmā suvṛktim | agne prāva jaritāraṃ yaviṣṭhāgne mahi draviṇamā yajasva ||

The Ṛbhus have fabricated praise for Agni; we have recited pious praise to the mighty Agni; Agni,youngest (of the gods), protect your worshipper; Agni, bestow (on him) abundant wealth.
