[rv-10-35] • 14 श्लोकाः

अबुध्रमु त्य इन्द्रवन्तो अग्नयो ज्योतिर्भरन्त उषसो व्युष्टिषु । मही द्यावापृथिवी चेततामपोऽद्या देवानामव आ वृणीमहे ॥

abudhramu tya indravanto agnayo jyotirbharanta uṣaso vyuṣṭiṣu | mahī dyāvāpṛthivī cetatāmapo'dyā devānāmava ā vṛṇīmahe ||

The fires that are connected with Indra are awake, bringing light at the opening of the dawn; let thegreat heaven and earth be cognizant of that office; to-day we solicit the protection of the gods.

दिवस्पृथिव्योरव आ वृणीमहे मातॄन्त्सिन्धून्पर्वताञ्छर्यणावतः । अनागास्त्वं सूर्यमुषासमीमहे भद्रं सोमः सुवानो अद्या कृणोतु नः ॥

divaspṛthivyorava ā vṛṇīmahe mātṝntsindhūnparvatāñcharyaṇāvataḥ | anāgāstvaṃ sūryamuṣāsamīmahe bhadraṃ somaḥ suvāno adyā kṛṇotu naḥ ||

We solicit the protection of heaven and earth; (we solicit) the maternal rivers, the mountains with theirlakes, the sun and the dawn, for freedom from sin; may the Soma that is now effused secure to us today goodfortune.

द्यावा नो अद्य पृथिवी अनागसो मही त्रायेतां सुविताय मातरा । उषा उच्छन्त्यप बाधतामघं स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

dyāvā no adya pṛthivī anāgaso mahī trāyetāṃ suvitāya mātarā | uṣā ucchantyapa bādhatāmaghaṃ svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

May the vast maternal heaven and earth this day preserve us for our happiness, free from sin; may theopening dawn drive away our sin; we solicit the kindled fire for our welfare.

इयं न उस्रा प्रथमा सुदेव्यं रेवत्सनिभ्यो रेवती व्युच्छतु । आरे मन्युं दुर्विदत्रस्य धीमहि स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

iyaṃ na usrā prathamā sudevyaṃ revatsanibhyo revatī vyucchatu | āre manyuṃ durvidatrasya dhīmahi svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

May this first dawn, the possessor of wealth, open; bringing to us who are liberal (a season) fit for thegods, abounding with riches; we consider the anger of the malevolent (to be) remote; we solicit the kindled firefor our welfare.

प्र याः सिस्रते सूर्यस्य रश्मिभिर्ज्योतिर्भरन्तीरुषसो व्युष्टिषु । भद्रा नो अद्य श्रवसे व्युच्छत स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

pra yāḥ sisrate sūryasya raśmibhirjyotirbharantīruṣaso vyuṣṭiṣu | bhadrā no adya śravase vyucchata svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

Dawns, who are associated with the rays of the sun, bringing light at the opening (of the day), shineupon us today, propitious, for our subsistence; we solicit the kindled fire for our welfare.

अनमीवा उषस आ चरन्तु न उदग्नयो जिहतां ज्योतिषा बृहत् । आयुक्षातामश्विना तूतुजिं रथं स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

anamīvā uṣasa ā carantu na udagnayo jihatāṃ jyotiṣā bṛhat | āyukṣātāmaśvinā tūtujiṃ rathaṃ svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

May the salutary dawns hasten to us; may the fires blaze up with great lustre, and may the Aśvinsharness their quick-going chariot; we solicit the kindled fire for our welfare.

श्रेष्ठं नो अद्य सवितर्वरेण्यं भागमा सुव स हि रत्नधा असि । रायो जनित्रीं धिषणामुप ब्रुवे स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

śreṣṭhaṃ no adya savitarvareṇyaṃ bhāgamā suva sa hi ratnadhā asi | rāyo janitrīṃ dhiṣaṇāmupa bruve svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

Savitā, this day bestow upon us excellent and eligible portion, for you verily are the dispenser ofwealth; I recite the praise (of the gods) which is the progenitress of riches; we solicit the kindled fire for ourwelfare.

पिपर्तु मा तदृतस्य प्रवाचनं देवानां यन्मनुष्या अमन्महि । विश्वा इदुस्राः स्पऴुदेति सूर्यः स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

pipartu mā tadṛtasya pravācanaṃ devānāṃ yanmanuṣyā amanmahi | viśvā idusrāḥ spaḻudeti sūryaḥ svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

May that glorification of the gods which men repeat in connection with the rite preserve me; the sunrises visiting all the lustre of the dawn; we solicit the kindled fire for our welfare.

अद्वेषो अद्य बर्हिषः स्तरीमणि ग्राव्णां योगे मन्मनः साध ईमहे । आदित्यानां शर्मणि स्था भुरण्यसि स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

adveṣo adya barhiṣaḥ starīmaṇi grāvṇāṃ yoge manmanaḥ sādha īmahe | ādityānāṃ śarmaṇi sthā bhuraṇyasi svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

On strewing the sacred grass, and bringing the stones into contact (with the Soma), whereby ourwishes are accomplished, we solicit today the benevolent (Ādityas); abiding in the happiness of those Ādityas,you discharged, worshipper, your duties, we solicit the kindled fire for our welfare.

आ नो बर्हिः सधमादे बृहद्दिवि देवाँ ईऴे सादया सप्त होतॄन् । इन्द्रं मित्रं वरुणं सातये भगं स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

ā no barhiḥ sadhamāde bṛhaddivi devā~ īḻe sādayā sapta hotṝn | indraṃ mitraṃ varuṇaṃ sātaye bhagaṃ svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

On this our sacred grass, spacious and bright where the gods delight together, do you (Agni) seat theseven ministrant priests, Indra, Mitra, Varuṇa, Bhaga, I praise the gods for their bounty; we solicit the kindled firefor our welfare.

त आदित्या आ गता सर्वतातये वृधे नो यज्ञमवता सजोषसः । बृहस्पतिं पूषणमश्विना भगं स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

ta ādityā ā gatā sarvatātaye vṛdhe no yajñamavatā sajoṣasaḥ | bṛhaspatiṃ pūṣaṇamaśvinā bhagaṃ svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

Ādityas, come to our ceremony, being well-plural ased protect the sacrifice for our growth; we solicit forour welfare Bṛhaspati, Pūṣan, the Aśvins, Bhaga, and the kindled fire.

तन्नो देवा यच्छत सुप्रवाचनं छर्दिरादित्याः सुभरं नृपाय्यम् । पश्वे तोकाय तनयाय जीवसे स्वस्त्यग्निं समिधानमीमहे ॥

tanno devā yacchata supravācanaṃ chardirādityāḥ subharaṃ nṛpāyyam | paśve tokāya tanayāya jīvase svastyagniṃ samidhānamīmahe ||

Divine Aśvins, bestow upon us an excellent, spacious, man-protecting dwelling, for our cattle, oursons and our grandsons to exist; we solicit the kindled fire for our welfare.

विश्वे अद्य मरुतो विश्व ऊती विश्वे भवन्त्वग्नयः समिद्धाः । विश्वे नो देवा अवसा गमन्तु विश्वमस्तु द्रविणं वाजो अस्मे ॥

viśve adya maruto viśva ūtī viśve bhavantvagnayaḥ samiddhāḥ | viśve no devā avasā gamantu viśvamastu draviṇaṃ vājo asme ||

This day, may all the Maruts, all the (deities), be for our protection; and may all the fires be kindleḍMay all the gods come for our preservation, and may all wealth and food be ours.

यं देवासोऽवथ वाजसातौ यं त्रायध्वे यं पिपृथात्यंहः । यो वो गोपीथे न भयस्य वेद ते स्याम देववीतये तुरासः ॥

yaṃ devāso'vatha vājasātau yaṃ trāyadhve yaṃ pipṛthātyaṃhaḥ | yo vo gopīthe na bhayasya veda te syāma devavītaye turāsaḥ ||

Gods, who are prompt (to grant our desires), may he, whom you guard in battle, whom you defend(from his enemies), whom having extricated from sin, you gratify (in all his wishes), who (secure) in yourprotection; knows not of fear, may we (who are all this) be assiduous in offering sacrifice to the gods.
