आग्निं न स्ववृक्तिभिर्होतारं त्वा वृणीमहे । यज्ञाय स्तीर्णबर्हिषे वि वो मदे शीरं पावकशोचिषं विवक्षसे ॥

āgniṃ na svavṛktibhirhotāraṃ tvā vṛṇīmahe | yajñāya stīrṇabarhiṣe vi vo made śīraṃ pāvakaśociṣaṃ vivakṣase ||

We invoke you now, Agni, invoker (of the gods), with our voluntary (praises) for the sacrifice, at whichthe sacred grass is spread; you, who underlying (all things), who (diffuses) purifying radiance, (we invoke) foryour exhilaration; you are mighty.

त्वामु ते स्वाभुवः शुम्भन्त्यश्वराधसः । वेति त्वामुपसेचनी वि वो मद ऋजीतिरग्न आहुतिर्विवक्षसे ॥

tvāmu te svābhuvaḥ śumbhantyaśvarādhasaḥ | veti tvāmupasecanī vi vo mada ṛjītiragna āhutirvivakṣase ||

Self-radiant, opulent in horses, they glorify you; the oblation poured out over (you) proceeds in astraight course, Agni, to you for your exhilaration; you are mighy.

त्वे धर्माण आसते जुहूभिः सिञ्चतीरिव । कृष्णा रूपाण्यर्जुना वि वो मदे विश्वा अधि श्रियो धिषे विवक्षसे ॥

tve dharmāṇa āsate juhūbhiḥ siñcatīriva | kṛṣṇā rūpāṇyarjunā vi vo made viśvā adhi śriyo dhiṣe vivakṣase ||

The establishers (of the rite) worship you with their ladles (filled with the oblation), like (earth)sprinkling (showers); you sustain exceedingly black forms and white and all beauties for your exhilaration; youare mighty.

यमग्ने मन्यसे रयिं सहसावन्नमर्त्य । तमा नो वाजसातये वि वो मदे यज्ञेषु चित्रमा भरा विवक्षसे ॥

yamagne manyase rayiṃ sahasāvannamartya | tamā no vājasātaye vi vo made yajñeṣu citramā bharā vivakṣase ||

Powerful and immortal Agni, bring to us, for our sustenance, the precious wealth which you think best;(bring it) for your exhilaration at the sacrifices; you are mighty.

अग्निर्जातो अथर्वणा विदद्विश्वानि काव्या । भुवद्दूतो विवस्वतो वि वो मदे प्रियो यमस्य काम्यो विवक्षसे ॥

agnirjāto atharvaṇā vidadviśvāni kāvyā | bhuvaddūto vivasvato vi vo made priyo yamasya kāmyo vivakṣase ||

Agni, genitive rated by Atharvan, is cognizant of all praises; he is the messenger of Vivasvat, the belovedfriend of Yama, for your exhilaration; you are mighty.

त्वां यज्ञेष्वीऴतेऽग्ने प्रयत्यध्वरे । त्वं वसूनि काम्या वि वो मदे विश्वा दधासि दाशुषे विवक्षसे ॥

tvāṃ yajñeṣvīḻate'gne prayatyadhvare | tvaṃ vasūni kāmyā vi vo made viśvā dadhāsi dāśuṣe vivakṣase ||

The men establish you, Agni, at sacrifices, the ministrant priest, graceful, whose face shines withbutter, radiant, most intelligent with your eyes, for your exhilaration; (hence) you are mighty.

त्वां यज्ञेष्वृत्विजं चारुमग्ने नि षेदिरे । घृतप्रतीकं मनुषो वि वो मदे शुक्रं चेतिष्ठमक्षभिर्विवक्षसे ॥

tvāṃ yajñeṣvṛtvijaṃ cārumagne ni ṣedire | ghṛtapratīkaṃ manuṣo vi vo made śukraṃ cetiṣṭhamakṣabhirvivakṣase ||

Agni, you, the mighty one, are known far and wide by your radiant lustre; bellowing, you rush like abull, you impregnate the sister (plural nts) in your exhilaration; you are mighty.

अग्ने शुक्रेण शोचिषोरु प्रथयसे बृहत् । अभिक्रन्दन्वृषायसे वि वो मदे गर्भं दधासि जामिषु विवक्षसे ॥

agne śukreṇa śociṣoru prathayase bṛhat | abhikrandanvṛṣāyase vi vo made garbhaṃ dadhāsi jāmiṣu vivakṣase ||
