[rv-10-132] • 7 श्लोकाः

ईजानमिद्द्यौर्गूर्तावसुरीजानं भूमिरभि प्रभूषणि । ईजानं देवावश्विनावभि सुम्नैरवर्धताम् ॥

ījānamiddyaurgūrtāvasurījānaṃ bhūmirabhi prabhūṣaṇi | ījānaṃ devāvaśvināvabhi sumnairavardhatām ||

The Heaven liberal of treasure (prospers) the sacrificer, the Earth (prospers) the sacrificer because ofthe ornament, the divine Aśvins prospered the sacrificer with blessings.

ता वां मित्रावरुणा धारयत्क्षिती सुषुम्नेषितत्वता यजामसि । युवोः क्राणाय सख्यैरभि ष्याम रक्षसः ॥

tā vāṃ mitrāvaruṇā dhārayatkṣitī suṣumneṣitatvatā yajāmasi | yuvoḥ krāṇāya sakhyairabhi ṣyāma rakṣasaḥ ||

Mitra and Varuṇa, who sustain the earth, we worship you, the givers of felicity, for the sake ofattaining our desires; may we, through your favour for the performer (of the sacrifice), overcome the rākṣasas.

अधा चिन्नु यद्दिधिषामहे वामभि प्रियं रेक्णः पत्यमानाः । दद्वाँ वा यत्पुष्यति रेक्णः सम्वारन्नकिरस्य मघानि ॥

adhā cinnu yaddidhiṣāmahe vāmabhi priyaṃ rekṇaḥ patyamānāḥ | dadvā~ vā yatpuṣyati rekṇaḥ samvārannakirasya maghāni ||

May we, when we present to you (oblations), quickly alight upon desirable wealth, and the genitive rousman who fosters his wealth, may his riches not depart from him.

असावन्यो असुर सूयत द्यौस्त्वं विश्वेषां वरुणासि राजा । मूर्धा रथस्य चाकन्नैतावतैनसान्तकध्रुक् ॥

asāvanyo asura sūyata dyaustvaṃ viśveṣāṃ varuṇāsi rājā | mūrdhā rathasya cākannaitāvatainasāntakadhruk ||

(Mitra), scatterer of darkness, the Heaven gave birth to you the other; you, Varuṇa, are sovereignover all. The head of (your) chariot desired (this sacrifice); opposing the destroyer, (the rite) is not (vitiated) bythe smallest defect.

अस्मिन्त्स्वेतच्छकपूत एनो हिते मित्रे निगतान्हन्ति वीरान् । अवोर्वा यद्धात्तनूष्ववः प्रियासु यज्ञियास्वर्वा ॥

asmintsvetacchakapūta eno hite mitre nigatānhanti vīrān | avorvā yaddhāttanūṣvavaḥ priyāsu yajñiyāsvarvā ||

This iniquity (found) in this Śakapūta, when Mitra is propitious, destroys opposing heroes, when thei.e., Mitra or Varuṇa; avaḥ = food; when the approaching Mitra (or Varuṇa) gives protection to the sacrificial ritesand bodies of the worshipper who delights him with oblations].

युवोर्हि मातादितिर्विचेतसा द्यौर्न भूमिः पयसा पुपूतनि । अव प्रिया दिदिष्टन सूरो निनिक्त रश्मिभिः ॥

yuvorhi mātāditirvicetasā dyaurna bhūmiḥ payasā pupūtani | ava priyā didiṣṭana sūro ninikta raśmibhiḥ ||

O (Mitra and Varuṇa), endowed with various wisdom, your mother Aditi, the earth, (is) for thepurification (of all things) by its libations, as the heaven (purifies by its rain); you display before us precious(treasures), and wash us with the sun's rays.

युवं ह्यप्नराजावसीदतं तिष्ठद्रथं न धूर्षदं वनर्षदम् । ता नः कणूकयन्तीर्नृमेधस्तत्रे अंहसः सुमेधस्तत्रे अंहसः ॥

yuvaṃ hyapnarājāvasīdataṃ tiṣṭhadrathaṃ na dhūrṣadaṃ vanarṣadam | tā naḥ kaṇūkayantīrnṛmedhastatre aṃhasaḥ sumedhastatre aṃhasaḥ ||

For you, brilliant through your functions, have sat down; now mount, (each of you, his) chariot, whichrests on the yoke, which abides in the forests, (to overcome) those (people) who clamour against us; Nṛmedhawas preserved (by you) from sin, the pious worshipper was preserved from sin.
