[rv-10-130] • 7 श्लोकाः

यो यज्ञो विश्वतस्तन्तुभिस्तत एकशतं देवकर्मेभिरायतः । इमे वयन्ति पितरो य आययुः प्र वयाप वयेत्यासते तते ॥

yo yajño viśvatastantubhistata ekaśataṃ devakarmebhirāyataḥ | ime vayanti pitaro ya āyayuḥ pra vayāpa vayetyāsate tate ||

The sacrifice which is extended on every side by the threads (of created things) spread out by theworship of the gods for a hundred and one (years), these our progenitors, who have preceded us, weave it,weaving forwards, weaving backwards, they worship (Prajāpati) when (the world) is woven.

पुमाँ एनं तनुत उत्कृणत्ति पुमान्वि तत्ने अधि नाके अस्मिन् । इमे मयूखा उप सेदुरू सदः सामानि चक्रुस्तसराण्योतवे ॥

pumā~ enaṃ tanuta utkṛṇatti pumānvi tatne adhi nāke asmin | ime mayūkhā upa sedurū sadaḥ sāmāni cakrustasarāṇyotave ||

The first man spreads out this (web), the first man rolls it up, he spread it above in this heaven; thesehis rays have sat down on the seat (of sacrifice), they have made the prayers serve as shuttles for weaving.

कासीत्प्रमा प्रतिमा किं निदानमाज्यं किमासीत्परिधिः क आसीत् । छन्दः किमासीत्प्रौगं किमुक्थं यद्देवा देवमयजन्त विश्वे ॥

kāsītpramā pratimā kiṃ nidānamājyaṃ kimāsītparidhiḥ ka āsīt | chandaḥ kimāsītpraugaṃ kimukthaṃ yaddevā devamayajanta viśve ||

What was the authority (of the sacrifice), what was thelimitation, what was the first cause, what wasthe clarified butter, what was the enclosure, what was the metre, what was pra-uga text, when the universal godsoffered worship to the gods?

अग्नेर्गायत्र्यभवत्सयुग्वोष्णिहया सविता सं बभूव । अनुष्टुभा सोम उक्थैर्महस्वान्बृहस्पतेर्बृहती वाचमावत् ॥

agnergāyatryabhavatsayugvoṣṇihayā savitā saṃ babhūva | anuṣṭubhā soma ukthairmahasvānbṛhaspaterbṛhatī vācamāvat ||

Gāyatrī became the associate of Agni, Savitā became combined with Uṣṇik, Soma radiant withsacred praises (was united) with Anuṣṭup, Bṛhatī gave efficacy to the words of Bṛhaspati.

विराण्मित्रावरुणयोरभिश्रीरिन्द्रस्य त्रिष्टुबिह भागो अह्नः । विश्वान्देवाञ्जगत्या विवेश तेन चाकॢप्र ऋषयो मनुष्याः ॥

virāṇmitrāvaruṇayorabhiśrīrindrasya triṣṭubiha bhāgo ahnaḥ | viśvāndevāñjagatyā viveśa tena cākḷpra ṛṣayo manuṣyāḥ ||

Virāt. was the glory of Mitra and Varuṇa; Triṣṭubh was Indra's portion of the midday (oblation) atand 5 answer the question, what was the metre? Two of the other questions- those relating to the butter (ājya)and the enclosure (paridhi)-- have been answered, in the Puruṣa sūkta, 10.90; cf. Taittirīya Brāhmaṇa3.12.9]. beholding them with the eye of the mind, I glorify those who of old celebrated this sacrifice.

चाकॢप्रे तेन ऋषयो मनुष्या यज्ञे जाते पितरो नः पुराणे । पश्यन्मन्ये मनसा चक्षसा तान्य इमं यज्ञमयजन्त पूर्वे ॥

cākḷpre tena ṛṣayo manuṣyā yajñe jāte pitaro naḥ purāṇe | paśyanmanye manasā cakṣasā tānya imaṃ yajñamayajanta pūrve ||

Details:

सहस्तोमाः सहछन्दस आवृतः सहप्रमा ऋषयः सप्त दैव्याः । पूर्वेषां पन्थामनुदृश्य धीरा अन्वालेभिरे रथ्यो न रश्मीन् ॥

sahastomāḥ sahachandasa āvṛtaḥ sahapramā ṛṣayaḥ sapta daivyāḥ | pūrveṣāṃ panthāmanudṛśya dhīrā anvālebhire rathyo na raśmīn ||
