[rv-10-122] • 8 श्लोकाः

वसुं न चित्रमहसं गृणीषे वामं शेवमतिथिमद्विषेण्यम् । स रासते शुरुधो विश्वधायसोऽग्निर्होता गृहपतिः सुवीर्यम् ॥

vasuṃ na citramahasaṃ gṛṇīṣe vāmaṃ śevamatithimadviṣeṇyam | sa rāsate śurudho viśvadhāyaso'gnirhotā gṛhapatiḥ suvīryam ||

I glorify him who is of wonderful radiance like the sun, the desirable, the giver of happiness, the guest(of man), the benevolent. He bestows vigour (upon the worshippers); Agni, the remover of sorrow, the sustaineerof all, the invoker (of the gods), the lord of the mansion.

जुषाणो अग्ने प्रति हर्य मे वचो विश्वानि विद्वान्वयुनानि सुक्रतो । घृतनिर्णिग्ब्रह्मणे गातुमेरय तव देवा अजनयन्ननु व्रतम् ॥

juṣāṇo agne prati harya me vaco viśvāni vidvānvayunāni sukrato | ghṛtanirṇigbrahmaṇe gātumeraya tava devā ajanayannanu vratam ||

Accept, Agni, being well plural ased, my praises, author of great deeds, (you are) cognizant of all objectsof knowledge; anointed with butter, stimulate the movements of the Brāhmaṇa; the gods produce (rewards)after your worship.

सप्त धामानि परियन्नमर्त्यो दाशद्दाशुषे सुकृते मामहस्व । सुवीरेण रयिणाग्ने स्वाभुवा यस्त आनट् समिधा तं जुषस्व ॥

sapta dhāmāni pariyannamartyo dāśaddāśuṣe sukṛte māmahasva | suvīreṇa rayiṇāgne svābhuvā yasta ānaṭ samidhā taṃ juṣasva ||

Traversing the seven regions (of the universe), immortal Agni, bestow wealth, giving liberally to thepious liberal giver. Gratify with easily obtainable riches, together with fair offspring, him who feeds you with fueḷ

यज्ञस्य केतुं प्रथमं पुरोहितं हविष्मन्त ईऴते सप्त वाजिनम् । शृण्वन्तमग्निं घृतपृष्ठमुक्षणं पृणन्तं देवं पृणते सुवीर्यम् ॥

yajñasya ketuṃ prathamaṃ purohitaṃ haviṣmanta īḻate sapta vājinam | śṛṇvantamagniṃ ghṛtapṛṣṭhamukṣaṇaṃ pṛṇantaṃ devaṃ pṛṇate suvīryam ||

The seven (priests) bearing oblations worship Agni, the emblem of sacrifice, the first of the gods, thefamily priest, the possessor of food, the hearer (of our prayers), the anointed with butter, the shedder of moisture,propitiating the worshipper who propitiates him, divine, endowed with excellent might.

त्वं दूतः प्रथमो वरेण्यः स हूयमानो अमृताय मत्स्व । त्वां मर्जयन्मरुतो दाशुषो गृहे त्वां स्तोमेभिर्भृगवो वि रुरुचुः ॥

tvaṃ dūtaḥ prathamo vareṇyaḥ sa hūyamāno amṛtāya matsva | tvāṃ marjayanmaruto dāśuṣo gṛhe tvāṃ stomebhirbhṛgavo vi rurucuḥ ||

You are the chief and most excellent messenger; do you, invoked by us to partake of the ambrosia,become exhilarated; the Maruts decorated you in the dwelling of the donor of the oblation; the Bhṛgus haveglorified you with hymns.

इषं दुहन्त्सुदुघां विश्वधायसं यज्ञप्रिये यजमानाय सुक्रतो । अग्ने घृतस्नुस्त्रिॠतानि दीद्यद्वर्तिर्यज्ञं परियन्त्सुक्रतूयसे ॥

iṣaṃ duhantsudughāṃ viśvadhāyasaṃ yajñapriye yajamānāya sukrato | agne ghṛtasnustriṝtāni dīdyadvartiryajñaṃ pariyantsukratūyase ||

Milking the easily milked cow (of sacrifice) of her all-sustaining food, for the benefit of the piousinstitutor of the rite, O Agni, doer of good deeds, anointed with butter, illumining the three regions, presiding(over the hall of sacrifice), going round the sacrifice, you accomplish each holy rite.

त्वामिदस्या उषसो व्युष्टिषु दूतं कृण्वाना अयजन्त मानुषाः । त्वां देवा महयाय्याय वावृधुराज्यमग्ने निमृजन्तो अध्वरे ॥

tvāmidasyā uṣaso vyuṣṭiṣu dūtaṃ kṛṇvānā ayajanta mānuṣāḥ | tvāṃ devā mahayāyyāya vāvṛdhurājyamagne nimṛjanto adhvare ||

Men worshipped you, Agni, at the opening of the present dawn, appointing you their messenger to thegods; the gods have magnified you for their adoration, sprinkling butter upon you at the sacrifice.

नि त्वा वसिष्ठा अह्वन्त वाजिनं गृणन्तो अग्ने विदथेषु वेधसः । रायस्पोषं यजमानेषु धारय यूयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥

ni tvā vasiṣṭhā ahvanta vājinaṃ gṛṇanto agne vidatheṣu vedhasaḥ | rāyaspoṣaṃ yajamāneṣu dhāraya yūyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||

The pious Vasiṣṭha invoked you, Agni, at the sacrificial meetings, praising you, the mighty one;continue the sustenance of riches among the instrumental tutors of the rite, and do you (gods) ever cherish us withblessings.
