[rv-10-120] • 9 श्लोकाः

तदिदास भुवनेषु ज्येष्ठं यतो जज्ञ उग्रस्त्वेषनृम्णः । सद्यो जज्ञानो नि रिणाति शत्रूननु यं विश्वे मदन्त्यूमाः ॥

tadidāsa bhuvaneṣu jyeṣṭhaṃ yato jajña ugrastveṣanṛmṇaḥ | sadyo jajñāno ni riṇāti śatrūnanu yaṃ viśve madantyūmāḥ ||

That was the chiefest in all worlds, from whence the fierce one, the rich in radiance, was born; assoon as born, he destroys the foes, he in whom all living beings delight.

वावृधानः शवसा भूर्योजाः शत्रुर्दासाय भियसं दधाति । अव्यनच्च व्यनच्च सस्नि सं ते नवन्त प्रभृता मदेषु ॥

vāvṛdhānaḥ śavasā bhūryojāḥ śatrurdāsāya bhiyasaṃ dadhāti | avyanacca vyanacca sasni saṃ te navanta prabhṛtā madeṣu ||

Waxing in strength, the very powerful, destructive (Indra), implants fear in the Dāsa; both theinanimate and the animate (world) is purified by him. Nourished in your exhilaration (all creatures) are assembled.

त्वे क्रतुमपि वृञ्जन्ति विश्वे द्विर्यदेते त्रिर्भवन्त्यूमाः । स्वादोः स्वादीयः स्वादुना सृजा समदः सु मधु मधुनाभि योधीः ॥

tve kratumapi vṛñjanti viśve dviryadete trirbhavantyūmāḥ | svādoḥ svādīyaḥ svādunā sṛjā samadaḥ su madhu madhunābhi yodhīḥ ||

To you all (worshippers) offer adoration, whether those propitiators be two or three. Combine thatwhich is sweeter than the sweet with sweetness, unite that honey with honey.

इति चिद्धि त्वा धना जयन्तं मदेमदे अनुमदन्ति विप्राः । ओजीयो धृष्णो स्थिरमा तनुष्व मा त्वा दभन्यातुधाना दुरेवाः ॥

iti ciddhi tvā dhanā jayantaṃ mademade anumadanti viprāḥ | ojīyo dhṛṣṇo sthiramā tanuṣva mā tvā dabhanyātudhānā durevāḥ ||

Verily the pious praise you, (Indra), the giver of wealth in your repeated exhilaration; spread out for usresolute Indra, great and durable (affluence); may the malignant yātudhānas never harm you.

त्वया वयं शाशद्महे रणेषु प्रपश्यन्तो युधेन्यानि भूरि । चोदयामि त आयुधा वचोभिः सं ते शिशामि ब्रह्मणा वयांसि ॥

tvayā vayaṃ śāśadmahe raṇeṣu prapaśyanto yudhenyāni bhūri | codayāmi ta āyudhā vacobhiḥ saṃ te śiśāmi brahmaṇā vayāṃsi ||

Through you we destroy (our foes) in battles, beholding the numerous (hosts) which we have to fight; Iurge your weapons with words (of praise), I prepare your viands with a sacred verse.

स्तुषेय्यं पुरुवर्पसमृभ्वमिनतममाप्त्यमाप्त्यानाम् । आ दर्षते शवसा सप्त दानून्प्र साक्षते प्रतिमानानि भूरि ॥

stuṣeyyaṃ puruvarpasamṛbhvaminatamamāptyamāptyānām | ā darṣate śavasā sapta dānūnpra sākṣate pratimānāni bhūri ||

I praise (Indra) who is worthy of praise, multiform vast, supreme, most accessible of the accessible; heassails with might the seven Dānavas, he overpowers many opposing hosts.

नि तद्दधिषेऽवरं परं च यस्मिन्नाविथावसा दुरोणे । आ मातरा स्थापयसे जिगत्नू अत इनोषि कर्वरा पुरूणि ॥

ni taddadhiṣe'varaṃ paraṃ ca yasminnāvithāvasā duroṇe | ā mātarā sthāpayase jigatnū ata inoṣi karvarā purūṇi ||

You deposit the lesser and the greater wealth in the mansion in which you are satisfied with food; youfix the two wandering mothers, you accomplish many works.

इमा ब्रह्म बृहद्दिवो विवक्तीन्द्राय शूषमग्रियः स्वर्षाः । महो गोत्रस्य क्षयति स्वराजो दुरश्च विश्वा अवृणोदप स्वाः ॥

imā brahma bṛhaddivo vivaktīndrāya śūṣamagriyaḥ svarṣāḥ | maho gotrasya kṣayati svarājo duraśca viśvā avṛṇodapa svāḥ ||

Details:

एवा महान्बृहद्दिवो अथर्वावोचत्स्वां तन्वमिन्द्रमेव । स्वसारो मातरिभ्वरीररिप्रा हिन्वन्ति च शवसा वर्धयन्ति च ॥

evā mahānbṛhaddivo atharvāvocatsvāṃ tanvamindrameva | svasāro mātaribhvarīrariprā hinvanti ca śavasā vardhayanti ca ||

Thus the great Bṛhaddiva, son of Atharvan, repeated his diffused (praise) to Indra. The unsulliedsiister (streams) abiding in the mother (earth), to Indra, and augment him with strength.
