[rv-10-110] • 11 श्लोकाः

समिद्धो अद्य मनुषो दुरोणे देवो देवान्यजसि जातवेदः । आ च वह मित्रमहश्चिकित्वान्त्वं दूतः कविरसि प्रचेताः ॥

samiddho adya manuṣo duroṇe devo devānyajasi jātavedaḥ | ā ca vaha mitramahaścikitvāntvaṃ dūtaḥ kavirasi pracetāḥ ||

Kindled today, Jātavedas, in the dwelling of the worshipper, you who are divine, sacrifice to the godṣBear (the oblation), you who respect your friends, who are intelligent; you are the wise, far-seeing messenger (ofthe gods).

तनूनपात्पथ ऋतस्य यानान्मध्वा समञ्जन्त्स्वदया सुजिह्व । मन्मानि धीभिरुत यज्ञमृन्धन्देवत्रा च कृणुह्यध्वरं नः ॥

tanūnapātpatha ṛtasya yānānmadhvā samañjantsvadayā sujihva | manmāni dhībhiruta yajñamṛndhandevatrā ca kṛṇuhyadhvaraṃ naḥ ||

Pure-tongued Tanūnapāt, flavour the paths of the sacrifice which lead (to success), moisteningthem with the sweet (Soma); elevating our praises and our rite by understanding, convey our sacrifice to thegods.

आजुह्वान ईड्यो वन्द्यश्चा याह्यग्ने वसुभिः सजोषाः । त्वं देवानामसि यह्व होता स एनान्यक्षीषितो यजीयान् ॥

ājuhvāna īḍyo vandyaścā yāhyagne vasubhiḥ sajoṣāḥ | tvaṃ devānāmasi yahva hotā sa enānyakṣīṣito yajīyān ||

Agni, who are the invoker (of the gods), and are to be solicited and praised, come, being propitiated,along with the Vasus; you, O mighty (Agni), are the invoker of the gods; do you, who are most entitled to worship,solicited by us, offer them adoration.

प्राचीनं बर्हिः प्रदिशा पृथिव्या वस्तोरस्या वृज्यते अग्रे अह्नाम् । व्यु प्रथते वितरं वरीयो देवेभ्यो अदितये स्योनम् ॥

prācīnaṃ barhiḥ pradiśā pṛthivyā vastorasyā vṛjyate agre ahnām | vyu prathate vitaraṃ varīyo devebhyo aditaye syonam ||

In the beginning of the day the sacred grass, pointing eastwards, is strewn with the prescribed (text)as a covering for the earth (of the altar); they spread it out far and wide as a plural asant (seat) for the gods andAditi.

व्यचस्वतीरुर्विया वि श्रयन्तां पतिभ्यो न जनयः शुम्भमानाः । देवीर्द्वारो बृहतीर्विश्वमिन्वा देवेभ्यो भवत सुप्रायणाः ॥

vyacasvatīrurviyā vi śrayantāṃ patibhyo na janayaḥ śumbhamānāḥ | devīrdvāro bṛhatīrviśvaminvā devebhyo bhavata suprāyaṇāḥ ||

Expanding wide, let the doors give access as gracefully decorated wives give access to theirhusbands, divine doors, spacious and admitting all, be easy of entry for the gods.

आ सुष्वयन्ती यजते उपाके उषासानक्ता सदतां नि योनौ । दिव्ये योषणे बृहती सुरुक्मे अधि श्रियं शुक्रपिशं दधाने ॥

ā suṣvayantī yajate upāke uṣāsānaktā sadatāṃ ni yonau | divye yoṣaṇe bṛhatī surukme adhi śriyaṃ śukrapiśaṃ dadhāne ||

May the adorable Day and Night, the givers of sound repose, having approached, sit down in theplace (of sacrifice), two divine feminine les, majestic and richly ornamented, bearing beauty of a bright form.

दैव्या होतारा प्रथमा सुवाचा मिमाना यज्ञं मनुषो यजध्यै । प्रचोदयन्ता विदथेषु कारू प्राचीनं ज्योतिः प्रदिशा दिशन्ता ॥

daivyā hotārā prathamā suvācā mimānā yajñaṃ manuṣo yajadhyai | pracodayantā vidatheṣu kārū prācīnaṃ jyotiḥ pradiśā diśantā ||

Divine ministers, prior (to those of earth), repeaters of pious praise, instrumental tuting the sacrifice at whichmen are to worship, (sit down) stimulating (the priests) at the sacrifices, makers (of praises), indicating theeastern fire with the prescribed (text).

आ नो यज्ञं भारती तूयमेत्विऴा मनुष्वदिह चेतयन्ती । तिस्रो देवीर्बर्हिरेदं स्योनं सरस्वती स्वपसः सदन्तु ॥

ā no yajñaṃ bhāratī tūyametviḻā manuṣvadiha cetayantī | tisro devīrbarhiredaṃ syonaṃ sarasvatī svapasaḥ sadantu ||

May Bhāratī come quickly to our sacrifice, and Iḷā thinking (of what she has to do), like a humanbeing; may Sarasvatī also-- the three gracious goddesses, sit down upon this plural asant sacred grass.

य इमे द्यावापृथिवी जनित्री रूपैरपिंशद्भुवनानि विश्वा । तमद्य होतरिषितो यजीयान्देवं त्वष्टारमिह यक्षि विद्वान् ॥

ya ime dyāvāpṛthivī janitrī rūpairapiṃśadbhuvanāni viśvā | tamadya hotariṣito yajīyāndevaṃ tvaṣṭāramiha yakṣi vidvān ||

To the divine Tvaṣṭā, who decked the parental heaven and earth and all the worlds with livingforms, to him, O priest, who are venerable and wise, being solicited byu us, offer oblation here today.

उपावसृज त्मन्या समञ्जन्देवानां पाथ ऋतुथा हवींषि । वनस्पतिः शमिता देवो अग्निः स्वदन्तु हव्यं मधुना घृतेन ॥

upāvasṛja tmanyā samañjandevānāṃ pātha ṛtuthā havīṃṣi | vanaspatiḥ śamitā devo agniḥ svadantu havyaṃ madhunā ghṛtena ||

Offer of your own will in due season the food (and other) oblations of the gods besmearing it. LetVanaspati, Śamitā, the divine Agni, sweeten the oblation with honey and butter.

सद्यो जातो व्यमिमीत यज्ञमग्निर्देवानामभवत्पुरोगाः । अस्य होतुः प्रदिश्यृतस्य वाचि स्वाहाकृतं हविरदन्तु देवाः ॥

sadyo jāto vyamimīta yajñamagnirdevānāmabhavatpurogāḥ | asya hotuḥ pradiśyṛtasya vāci svāhākṛtaṃ haviradantu devāḥ ||

As soon as he was born, Agni constructed a sacrifice, he was the preceder of the gods; may the godspartake of the oblation presented with the svāhā through the voice of him the hotā of the sacrifice at theeastern station.
