[rv-10-11] • 9 श्लोकाः

वृषा वृष्णे दुदुहे दोहसा दिवः पयांसि यह्वो अदितेरदाभ्यः । विश्वं स वेद वरुणो यथा धिया स यज्ञियो यजतु यज्ञियाँ ऋतून् ॥

vṛṣā vṛṣṇe duduhe dohasā divaḥ payāṃsi yahvo aditeradābhyaḥ | viśvaṃ sa veda varuṇo yathā dhiyā sa yajñiyo yajatu yajñiyā~ ṛtūn ||

The great, the unconquerable (Agni), the showerer, milks openly with a (great) milking the streams (ofprosperity) from heaven for the unwearying sacrificer; like Varuṇa, he knows everything by his understanding;may he who is skilled in sacrifice observe the sacrificial seasona.

रपद्गन्धर्वीरप्या च योषणा नदस्य नादे परि पातु मे मनः । इष्टस्य मध्ये अदितिर्नि धातु नो भ्राता नो ज्येष्ठः प्रथमो वि वोचति ॥

rapadgandharvīrapyā ca yoṣaṇā nadasya nāde pari pātu me manaḥ | iṣṭasya madhye aditirni dhātu no bhrātā no jyeṣṭhaḥ prathamo vi vocati ||

The Gandharvī and the water-consecrated feminine nine oblation praise Agni; may he be favourable tothe thought of me, raising my voice in his praise; may Agni plural ce us in the midst of the sacrifice; the chief (of theworshipers), our elder brother, repeats his various laudations.

सो चिन्नु भद्रा क्षुमती यशस्वत्युषा उवास मनवे स्वर्वती । यदीमुशन्तमुशतामनु क्रतुमग्निं होतारं विदथाय जीजनन् ॥

so cinnu bhadrā kṣumatī yaśasvatyuṣā uvāsa manave svarvatī | yadīmuśantamuśatāmanu kratumagniṃ hotāraṃ vidathāya jījanan ||

The very auspicious, resounding, famous Dawn, ascends bringing the sun to man; when for thesacrifice after the worship they give birth to that Agni, the desirer, the invoker of the desiring (gods).

अध त्यं द्रप्सं विभ्वं विचक्षणं विराभरदिषितः श्येनो अध्वरे । यदी विशो वृणते दस्ममार्या अग्निं होतारमध धीरजायत ॥

adha tyaṃ drapsaṃ vibhvaṃ vicakṣaṇaṃ virābharadiṣitaḥ śyeno adhvare | yadī viśo vṛṇate dasmamāryā agniṃ hotāramadha dhīrajāyata ||

The hawk sent (by Agni) to the sacrifice has brought the dripping copious all-seeing (Soma) libatioṇWhen the Arya people choose the victorious Agni as the ministrant priest, then the sacred rite is celebrateḍ

सदासि रण्वो यवसेव पुष्यते होत्राभिरग्ने मनुषः स्वध्वरः । विप्रस्य वा यच्छशमान उक्थ्यं वाजं ससवाँ उपयासि भूरिभिः ॥

sadāsi raṇvo yavaseva puṣyate hotrābhiragne manuṣaḥ svadhvaraḥ | viprasya vā yacchaśamāna ukthyaṃ vājaṃ sasavā~ upayāsi bhūribhiḥ ||

You, Agni, are ever plural asing (to your worshippers), as pasture satisfies (the herds); bewell-worshipped with man's sacrifices; if commending the praise of the wise, and partaking of the (sacrificial)food, you come with many (divinities of the rite).

उदीरय पितरा जार आ भगमियक्षति हर्यतो हृत्त इष्यति । विवक्ति वह्निः स्वपस्यते मखस्तविष्यते असुरो वेपते मती ॥

udīraya pitarā jāra ā bhagamiyakṣati haryato hṛtta iṣyati | vivakti vahniḥ svapasyate makhastaviṣyate asuro vepate matī ||

Wake up the parents, as the Sun his splendour; (the worshipper) desires to offer worship to (thedeities) who are plural ased by it; with all his heart he wishes (to do so); he desires to repeat (your praise); thebearer (of the oblation) is anxious to effect the good work; the sacrifice longs for augmentation, the prudent(sacrificer) trembles in his thoughts.

यस्ते अग्ने सुमतिं मर्तो अक्षत्सहसः सूनो अति स प्र शृण्वे । इषं दधानो वहमानो अश्वैरा स द्युमाँ अमवान्भूषति द्यून् ॥

yaste agne sumatiṃ marto akṣatsahasaḥ sūno ati sa pra śṛṇve | iṣaṃ dadhāno vahamāno aśvairā sa dyumā~ amavānbhūṣati dyūn ||

Agni, son of strength, the mortal who obtains your favour is widely celebrated; possessing abundantfood, and being conveyed by horses, illustrious and vigorous he graces the days of his existence.

यदग्न एषा समितिर्भवाति देवी देवेषु यजता यजत्र । रत्ना च यद्विभजासि स्वधावो भागं नो अत्र वसुमन्तं वीतात् ॥

yadagna eṣā samitirbhavāti devī deveṣu yajatā yajatra | ratnā ca yadvibhajāsi svadhāvo bhāgaṃ no atra vasumantaṃ vītāt ||

When, adorable Agni, this united praise is resplendent among the adorable gods, and when you,bearer of the oblatio, apportion the precious (treasures), then allot to us a valuable share. bring to us the heaven and earth, the daughters of the divine (Prajāpati), let none of the gods be absent, and doyou yourself be present.

श्रुधी नो अग्ने सदने सधस्थे युक्ष्वा रथममृतस्य द्रवित्नुम् । आ नो वह रोदसी देवपुत्रे माकिर्देवानामप भूरिह स्याः ॥

śrudhī no agne sadane sadhasthe yukṣvā rathamamṛtasya dravitnum | ā no vaha rodasī devaputre mākirdevānāmapa bhūriha syāḥ ||
