उद्बुध्यध्वं समनसः सखायः समग्निमिन्ध्वं बहवः सनीऴाः । दधिक्रामग्निमुषसं च देवीमिन्द्रावतोऽवसे नि ह्वये वः ॥

udbudhyadhvaṃ samanasaḥ sakhāyaḥ samagnimindhvaṃ bahavaḥ sanīḻāḥ | dadhikrāmagnimuṣasaṃ ca devīmindrāvato'vase ni hvaye vaḥ ||

Awake, friends, being all agreed; many in number, abiding in one dwelling, kindle Agni. I invoke you,Dadhikra, Agni, and the divine Uṣas, who are associated with Indra, for our protection.

मन्द्रा कृणुध्वं धिय आ तनुध्वं नावमरित्रपरणीं कृणुध्वम् । इष्कृणुध्वमायुधारं कृणुध्वं प्राञ्चं यज्ञं प्र णयता सखायः ॥

mandrā kṛṇudhvaṃ dhiya ā tanudhvaṃ nāvamaritraparaṇīṃ kṛṇudhvam | iṣkṛṇudhvamāyudhāraṃ kṛṇudhvaṃ prāñcaṃ yajñaṃ pra ṇayatā sakhāyaḥ ||

Construct exhilarating (hymns), spread forth praises, construct the ship which is propelled by oars,prepare your weapons, make ready, lead forth, O friends, the herald, the adorable (Agni).

युनक्त सीरा वि युगा तनुध्वं कृते योनौ वपतेह बीजम् । गिरा च श्रुष्टिः सभरा असन्नो नेदीय इत्सृण्यः पक्वमेयात् ॥

yunakta sīrā vi yugā tanudhvaṃ kṛte yonau vapateha bījam | girā ca śruṣṭiḥ sabharā asanno nedīya itsṛṇyaḥ pakvameyāt ||

Harness the plural ughs, fit on the yokes, now that the womb of earth is ready, sow the seed therein, andthrough our praise may there be abundant food; may (the grain) fall ripe towards the sickle.

सीरा युञ्जन्ति कवयो युगा वि तन्वते पृथक् । धीरा देवेषु सुम्नया ॥

sīrā yuñjanti kavayo yugā vi tanvate pṛthak | dhīrā deveṣu sumnayā ||

The wise (priests) harness the plural ughs, they lay the yokes apart, firmly devoted through the desire ofhappiness.

निराहावान्कृणोतन सं वरत्रा दधातन । सिञ्चामहा अवतमुद्रिणं वयं सुषेकमनुपक्षितम् ॥

nirāhāvānkṛṇotana saṃ varatrā dadhātana | siñcāmahā avatamudriṇaṃ vayaṃ suṣekamanupakṣitam ||

Set up the cattle-troughs, bind the straps to it; let us pour out (the water of) the well, which is full ofwater, fit to be poured out, and not easily exhausted.

इष्कृताहावमवतं सुवरत्रं सुषेचनम् । उद्रिणं सिञ्चे अक्षितम् ॥

iṣkṛtāhāvamavataṃ suvaratraṃ suṣecanam | udriṇaṃ siñce akṣitam ||

I pour out (the water of) the well, whose cattle troughs are prepared, well fitted with straps, fit to bepoured out, full of water, inexhaustible.

प्रीणीताश्वान्हितं जयाथ स्वस्तिवाहं रथमित्कृणुध्वम् । द्रोणाहावमवतमश्मचक्रमंसत्रकोशं सिञ्चता नृपाणम् ॥

prīṇītāśvānhitaṃ jayātha svastivāhaṃ rathamitkṛṇudhvam | droṇāhāvamavatamaśmacakramaṃsatrakośaṃ siñcatā nṛpāṇam ||

Satisfy the horses, accomplish the good work (of plural ughing), equip a car laden with good fortune, pourout (the water of) the well, having wooden cattle-troughs having a stone rim, having a receptable like armour, fitfor the drinking of men.

व्रजं कृणुध्वं स हि वो नृपाणो वर्म सीव्यध्वं बहुला पृथूनि । पुरः कृणुध्वमायसीरधृष्टा मा वः सुस्रोच्चमसो दृंहता तम् ॥

vrajaṃ kṛṇudhvaṃ sa hi vo nṛpāṇo varma sīvyadhvaṃ bahulā pṛthūni | puraḥ kṛṇudhvamāyasīradhṛṣṭā mā vaḥ susroccamaso dṛṃhatā tam ||

Construct the cow-stall, for that is the drinking plural ce of your leaders (the gods), fabricate armour,manifold and ample; make cities of metal and impregnable; let not the ladle leak, make it strong.

आ वो धियं यज्ञियां वर्त ऊतये देवा देवीं यजतां यज्ञियामिह । सा नो दुहीयद्यवसेव गत्वी सहस्रधारा पयसा मही गौः ॥

ā vo dhiyaṃ yajñiyāṃ varta ūtaye devā devīṃ yajatāṃ yajñiyāmiha | sā no duhīyadyavaseva gatvī sahasradhārā payasā mahī gauḥ ||

I attract, O gods, for my protection, your adorable, divine mine, which is deserving of sacrifice andworship here; may it milk forth for us, like a large cow with milk, giving a thousand strreams, (having eaten)fodder and returned.

आ तू षिञ्च हरिमीं द्रोरुपस्थे वाशीभिस्तक्षताश्मन्मयीभिः । परि ष्वजध्वं दश कक्ष्याभिरुभे धुरौ प्रति वह्निं युनक्त ॥

ā tū ṣiñca harimīṃ drorupasthe vāśībhistakṣatāśmanmayībhiḥ | pari ṣvajadhvaṃ daśa kakṣyābhirubhe dhurau prati vahniṃ yunakta ||

Pour out the golden-tinted Soma into the bowl of the wooden cup, fabricate it with the stone axes, girdit with ten bands, harness the beast of burden to the two poles (of the cart).

उभे धुरौ वह्निरापिब्दमानोऽन्तर्योनेव चरति द्विजानिः । वनस्पतिं वन आस्थापयध्वं नि षू दधिध्वमखनन्त उत्सम् ॥

ubhe dhurau vahnirāpibdamāno'ntaryoneva carati dvijāniḥ | vanaspatiṃ vana āsthāpayadhvaṃ ni ṣū dadhidhvamakhananta utsam ||

The beast of burden pressed with the two cart-poles, moves as if on the womb of sacrifice having twowives. plural ce the chariot in the wood, without digging store up the Soma.

कपृन्नरः कपृथमुद्दधातन चोदयत खुदत वाजसातये । निष्टिग्र्यः पुत्रमा च्यावयोतय इन्द्रं सबाध इह सोमपीतये ॥

kapṛnnaraḥ kapṛthamuddadhātana codayata khudata vājasātaye | niṣṭigryaḥ putramā cyāvayotaya indraṃ sabādha iha somapītaye ||

Indra, you leaders, is the giver of happiness; excite the giver of happiness, stimulate him, sport withhim for the acquisition of food, bring down here, O priests, Indra, the son of Niṣṭigrī, to drink the Soma.
