[rv-1-181] • 9 श्लोकाः

कदु प्रेष्टाविषां रयीणामध्वर्यन्ता यदुन्निनीथो अपाम् । अयं वां यज्ञो अकृत प्रशस्तिं वसुधिती अवितारा जनानाम् ॥

kadu preṣṭāviṣāṃ rayīṇāmadhvaryantā yadunninītho apām | ayaṃ vāṃ yajño akṛta praśastiṃ vasudhitī avitārā janānām ||

When, beloved (Aśvins), do you bear aloft (the materials) of food and riches, that, desirous of the sacrifice, you may send down the rain; this sacrifice offers you adoration, givers of riches, protectors of men.

आ वामश्वासः शुचयः पयस्पा वातरंहसो दिव्यासो अत्याः । मनोजुवो वृषणो वीतपृष्ठा एह स्वराजो अश्विना वहन्तु ॥

ā vāmaśvāsaḥ śucayaḥ payaspā vātaraṃhaso divyāso atyāḥ | manojuvo vṛṣaṇo vītapṛṣṭhā eha svarājo aśvinā vahantu ||

Aśvins, may your horses, pure, rain-drinking, swift as the wind, heaven-born, quick-moving, fleet as thought, vigorous, well-backed, and self-irradiating, bring you hither.

आ वां रथोऽवनिर्न प्रवत्वान्त्सृप्रवन्धुरः सुविताय गम्याः । वृष्णः स्थातारा मनसो जवीयानहम्पूर्वो यजतो धिष्ण्या यः ॥

ā vāṃ ratho'vanirna pravatvāntsṛpravandhuraḥ suvitāya gamyāḥ | vṛṣṇaḥ sthātārā manaso javīyānahampūrvo yajato dhiṣṇyā yaḥ ||

Aśvins, excellent and steady, may your chariot, vast as the earth, broad-fronted, rapid as the rain (fleet) as thought, cumulative and adorable, come hither for (our) good.

इहेह जाता समवावशीतामरेपसा तन्वा नामभिः स्वैः । जिष्णुर्वामन्यः सुमखस्य सूरिर्दिवो अन्यः सुभगः पुत्र ऊहे ॥

iheha jātā samavāvaśītāmarepasā tanvā nāmabhiḥ svaiḥ | jiṣṇurvāmanyaḥ sumakhasya sūrirdivo anyaḥ subhagaḥ putra ūhe ||

Born here (in the middle region) and here (in the upper region), you are glorified together, as faultless in your forms and (perfect in) your own many excellences; one (of you) the victorious son (of the firmament), the devout (promoter) of sacred sacrifice, the other, the auspicious son of heaven, (each) upholds (the world).

प्र वां निचेरुः ककुहो वशाँ अनु पिशङ्गरूपः सदनानि गम्याः । हरी अन्यस्य पीपयन्त वाजैर्मथ्रा रजांस्यश्विना वि घोषैः ॥

pra vāṃ niceruḥ kakuho vaśā~ anu piśaṅgarūpaḥ sadanāni gamyāḥ | harī anyasya pīpayanta vājairmathrā rajāṃsyaśvinā vi ghoṣaiḥ ||

Aśvins, may the golden-coloured (car of one of you), traversing at will the quarters of space, come to our dwellings; may mankind encourage the horses of the other by food, by friction, and by shouts.

प्र वां शरद्वान्वृषभो न निष्षाट् पूर्वीरिषश्चरति मध्व इष्णन् । एवैरन्यस्य पीपयन्त वाजैर्वेषन्तीरूर्ध्वा नद्यो न आगुः ॥

pra vāṃ śaradvānvṛṣabho na niṣṣāṭ pūrvīriṣaścarati madhva iṣṇan | evairanyasya pīpayanta vājairveṣantīrūrdhvā nadyo na āguḥ ||

(One of you), the disperser (of the clouds), like Indra, the annihilator (of his foes), desirous of the oblation, proceeds (bestowing) abundant food. (Devout worshippers) cherish with (sacrificial) viands, (the faculties) of the other, for the sake of favours, which flow upon us like swelling rivers.

असर्जि वां स्थविरा वेधसा गीर्बाऴ्हे अश्विना त्रेधा क्षरन्ती । उपस्तुताववतं नाधमानं यामन्नयामञ्छृणुतं हवं मे ॥

asarji vāṃ sthavirā vedhasā gīrbāḻhe aśvinā tredhā kṣarantī | upastutāvavataṃ nādhamānaṃ yāmannayāmañchṛṇutaṃ havaṃ me ||

Aśvins, creators, the perpetual threefold hymn addressed to you, has been uttered, (to secure) your steady (favour); thus glorified protect him who solicits (your bounty), and whether moving or resting, hear his invocation.

उत स्या वां रुशतो वप्ससो गीस्त्रिबर्हिषि सदसि पिन्वते नॄन् । वृषा वां मेघो वृषणा पीपाय गोर्न सेके मनुषो दशस्यन् ॥

uta syā vāṃ ruśato vapsaso gīstribarhiṣi sadasi pinvate nṝn | vṛṣā vāṃ megho vṛṣaṇā pīpāya gorna seke manuṣo daśasyan ||

May the praise of your resplendent forms, (uttered) in the hall of sacrifice, thrice strewn with sacred grass, bring prosperity to the conductors (of the sacrifice). Showerers (of benefits), may the raining-cloud, proceeding to man, nourish him lik a a sprinkling of water.

युवां पूषेवाश्विना पुरंधिरग्निमुषां न जरते हविष्मान् । हुवे यद्वां वरिवस्या गृणानो विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥

yuvāṃ pūṣevāśvinā puraṃdhiragnimuṣāṃ na jarate haviṣmān | huve yadvāṃ varivasyā gṛṇāno vidyāmeṣaṃ vṛjanaṃ jīradānum ||

The wise offerer of oblations, like Pūṣan, praises you, Aśvins, as (he would praise) Agni and Uṣā, (at the season) at which I invoke you praising with devotion that we may thence obtain food, strength, and long life.
