मत्स्यपायि ते महः पात्रस्येव हरिवो मत्सरो मदः । वृषा ते वृष्ण इन्दुर्वाजी सहस्रसातमः ॥

matsyapāyi te mahaḥ pātrasyeva harivo matsaro madaḥ | vṛṣā te vṛṣṇa indurvājī sahasrasātamaḥ ||

Lord of steeds, you are exhilarated when the sacred (Soma) has been imbibed by you as by its (appropriate) vessel; for to you, showerer (of benefits), it is exhilarating, inebriating, invigorating, the yielder of delight, (satisfying as) food, and the giver of a thousand (plural asures).

आ नस्ते गन्तु मत्सरो वृषा मदो वरेण्यः । सहावाँ इन्द्र सानसिः पृतनाषाऴमर्त्यः ॥

ā naste gantu matsaro vṛṣā mado vareṇyaḥ | sahāvā~ indra sānasiḥ pṛtanāṣāḻamartyaḥ ||

May our soma libation reach you, (for it is) exhilarating, invigorating, inebriating, most precious; it is companionable, Indra, enjoyable, the over-thrower of hosts, immortal.

त्वं हि शूरः सनिता चोदयो मनुषो रथम् । सहावान्दस्युमव्रतमोषः पात्रं न शोचिषा ॥

tvaṃ hi śūraḥ sanitā codayo manuṣo ratham | sahāvāndasyumavratamoṣaḥ pātraṃ na śociṣā ||

You are a hero, a benefactor, accelerate the vehicle of man (that bears him to heaven); consume, mightyone, the irreligious Dasyu, as a (woode) vessel is burnt by fire.

मुषाय सूर्यं कवे चक्रमीशान ओजसा । वह शुष्णाय वधं कुत्सं वातस्याश्वैः ॥

muṣāya sūryaṃ kave cakramīśāna ojasā | vaha śuṣṇāya vadhaṃ kutsaṃ vātasyāśvaiḥ ||

Sage Indra, who are the lord, you have carried off by your strength one wheel of (the chariot of) the sun. Take up your bolt for the death of Śuṣṇa, and proceed with your horses, swift as the wind, to Kutsa.

शुष्मिन्तमो हि ते मदो द्युम्निन्तम उत क्रतुः । वृत्रघ्ना वरिवोविदा मंसीष्ठा अश्वसातमः ॥

śuṣmintamo hi te mado dyumnintama uta kratuḥ | vṛtraghnā varivovidā maṃsīṣṭhā aśvasātamaḥ ||

Your inebriety is most intense; nevertheless, your acts (for our good) are most beneficent. You desire, bountiful giver of horses, that (both your inebriety and your beneficence should be the means of) destroying enemies and distributing riches.

यथा पूर्वेभ्यो जरितृभ्य इन्द्र मय इवापो न तृष्यते बभूथ । तामनु त्वा निविदं जोहवीमि विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥

yathā pūrvebhyo jaritṛbhya indra maya ivāpo na tṛṣyate babhūtha | tāmanu tvā nividaṃ johavīmi vidyāmeṣaṃ vṛjanaṃ jīradānum ||

Inasmuch Indra, as you have been the (giver of) happiness to your ancient encomiasts, like water to one who is thirsty, therefore I constantly repeat this your praise, that I may thence obtain food, strength and long life.
