[rv-1-155] • 6 श्लोकाः

प्र वः पान्तमन्धसो धियायते महे शूराय विष्णवे चार्चत । या सानुनि पर्वतानामदाभ्या महस्तस्थतुरर्वतेव साधुना ॥

pra vaḥ pāntamandhaso dhiyāyate mahe śūrāya viṣṇave cārcata | yā sānuni parvatānāmadābhyā mahastasthaturarvateva sādhunā ||

Offer your nutritious viands to the great hero, (Indra), who is plural ased by praise, and to Viṣṇu, the two invincible deities who ride upon the radiant summit of the clouds as upon a well-trained steed.

त्वेषमित्था समरणं शिमीवतोरिन्द्राविष्णू सुतपा वामुरुष्यति । या मर्त्याय प्रतिधीयमानमित्कृशानोरस्तुरसनामुरुष्यथः ॥

tveṣamitthā samaraṇaṃ śimīvatorindrāviṣṇū sutapā vāmuruṣyati | yā martyāya pratidhīyamānamitkṛśānorasturasanāmuruṣyathaḥ ||

Indra and Viṣṇu, the devout worshipper glorifies the radiant approach of you two, who are the granters of desires, and who bestow upon the mortal who worships you an immediately-receivable (reward), through the distribution of that fire which is the scatterer (of desired blessings).

ता ईं वर्धन्ति मह्यस्य पौंस्यं नि मातरा नयति रेतसे भुजे । दधाति पुत्रोऽवरं परं पितुर्नाम तृतीयमधि रोचने दिवः ॥

tā īṃ vardhanti mahyasya pauṃsyaṃ ni mātarā nayati retase bhuje | dadhāti putro'varaṃ paraṃ piturnāma tṛtīyamadhi rocane divaḥ ||

These (oblations) augment his (Indra's), mighty manhood, by which he fits the parents (of all creatures heaven and earth), for genitive ration and enjoyment; whereby, in the upper region of the sky, the son has an inferior and superior appellation, and a third (name) of father.

तत्तदिदस्य पौंस्यं गृणीमसीनस्य त्रातुरवृकस्य मीऴ्हुषः । यः पार्थिवानि त्रिभिरिद्विगामभिरुरु क्रमिष्टोरुगायाय जीवसे ॥

tattadidasya pauṃsyaṃ gṛṇīmasīnasya trāturavṛkasya mīḻhuṣaḥ | yaḥ pārthivāni tribhiridvigāmabhiruru kramiṣṭorugāyāya jīvase ||

Therefore, verily, we celebrate the manhood of that lord (of all), the preserver, the innocuous, the vigorous who traversed the three regions with three wide steps in different directions for the many-praised (preservation of) existence.

द्वे इदस्य क्रमणे स्वर्दृशोऽभिख्याय मर्त्यो भुरण्यति । तृतीयमस्य नकिरा दधर्षति वयश्चन पतयन्तः पतत्रिणः ॥

dve idasya kramaṇe svardṛśo'bhikhyāya martyo bhuraṇyati | tṛtīyamasya nakirā dadharṣati vayaścana patayantaḥ patatriṇaḥ ||

Man glorifying (Viṣṇu), tracks two steps of that heaven-beholding (deity), but he apprehends not the third; nor can the soaring-winged birds (pursue it).

चतुर्भिः साकं नवतिं च नामभिश्चक्रं न वृत्तं व्यतीँरवीविपत् । बृहच्छरीरो विमिमान ऋक्वभिर्युवाकुमारः प्रत्येत्याहवम् ॥

caturbhiḥ sākaṃ navatiṃ ca nāmabhiścakraṃ na vṛttaṃ vyatī~ravīvipat | bṛhaccharīro vimimāna ṛkvabhiryuvākumāraḥ pratyetyāhavam ||

He causes, by his gyrations, ninety and four periodical revolutions, like a circular wheel, vast of body, and evolving in many forms, through the praises (addressed to him); ever young, though not infantine, he comes at our invocations.
