[rv-1-119] • 10 श्लोकाः

आ वां रथं पुरुमायं मनोजुवं जीराश्वं यज्ञियं जीवसे हुवे । सहस्रकेतुं वनिनं शतद्वसुं श्रुष्टीवानं वरिवोधामभि प्रयः ॥

ā vāṃ rathaṃ purumāyaṃ manojuvaṃ jīrāśvaṃ yajñiyaṃ jīvase huve | sahasraketuṃ vaninaṃ śatadvasuṃ śruṣṭīvānaṃ varivodhāmabhi prayaḥ ||

Desiringfood, I invoke, (Aśvins), to support my life, your wonderful car, swift as thought, drawn by fleet horses, worthy of veneration, many-bannered, bringing rain, containing wealth, abundantly yielding delight, and conferring riches.

ऊर्ध्वा धीतिः प्रत्यस्य प्रयामन्यधायि शस्मन्त्समयन्त आ दिशः । स्वदामि घर्मं प्रति यन्त्यूतय आ वामूर्जानी रथमश्विनारुहत् ॥

ūrdhvā dhītiḥ pratyasya prayāmanyadhāyi śasmantsamayanta ā diśaḥ | svadāmi gharmaṃ prati yantyūtaya ā vāmūrjānī rathamaśvināruhat ||

Upon its moving, our minds have been raised on high in praise; our hymns reach (the Aśvins). I sweeten the oblation; the assistants come nigh; Ūrjāni, (the daughter of the sun), has ascended, Aśvins, your car.

सं यन्मिथः पस्पृधानासो अग्मत शुभे मखा अमिता जायवो रणे । युवोरह प्रवणे चेकिते रथो यदश्विना वहथः सूरिमा वरम् ॥

saṃ yanmithaḥ paspṛdhānāso agmata śubhe makhā amitā jāyavo raṇe | yuvoraha pravaṇe cekite ratho yadaśvinā vahathaḥ sūrimā varam ||

When devout and unnumbered (men), victorious in battle, mutually contending for wealth, come together, your car, Aśvins, is perceived on its downward course, in which you bear excellent (treasure) to the worshipper.

युवं भुज्युं भुरमाणं विभिर्गतं स्वयुक्तिभिर्निवहन्ता पितृभ्य आ । यासिष्टं वर्तिर्वृषणा विजेन्यं दिवोदासाय महि चेति वामवः ॥

yuvaṃ bhujyuṃ bhuramāṇaṃ vibhirgataṃ svayuktibhirnivahantā pitṛbhya ā | yāsiṣṭaṃ vartirvṛṣaṇā vijenyaṃ divodāsāya mahi ceti vāmavaḥ ||

You brought back to his ancestor (Bhujyu, who, borne by his own steeds, had perished), (but that you rescued him) with your self-harnessed horses, and sent showerers (o fbenefits), to his distant dwellign; and great was the succour whichit is know you rendered to Divodāsa.

युवोरश्विना वपुषे युवायुजं रथं वाणी येमतुरस्य शर्ध्यम् । आ वां पतित्वं सख्याय जग्मुषी योषावृणीत जेन्या युवां पती ॥

yuvoraśvinā vapuṣe yuvāyujaṃ rathaṃ vāṇī yematurasya śardhyam | ā vāṃ patitvaṃ sakhyāya jagmuṣī yoṣāvṛṇīta jenyā yuvāṃ patī ||

Aśvins, your admirable (horses) bore the car which you had carnessed, (first) to the goal, for the sake of honour, and the damsel, who was the prize, came through affection, to you, and acknowledged your (husbandship), saying, "you are (my) lords".

युवं रेभं परिषूतेरुरुष्यथो हिमेन घर्मं परितप्तमत्रये । युवं शयोरवसं पिप्यथुर्गवि प्र दीर्घेण वन्दनस्तार्यायुषा ॥

yuvaṃ rebhaṃ pariṣūteruruṣyatho himena gharmaṃ paritaptamatraye | yuvaṃ śayoravasaṃ pipyathurgavi pra dīrgheṇa vandanastāryāyuṣā ||

You preserved Rebha from the violence around him; you quenched with snow, for Atri, the scorching heat; you genitive rated milk in the cow of Śayu; and (by you) was Vandanā endowed with prolonged life.

युवं वन्दनं निॠतं जरण्यया रथं न दस्रा करणा समिन्वथः । क्षेत्रादा विप्रं जनथो विपन्यया प्र वामत्र विधते दंसना भुवत् ॥

yuvaṃ vandanaṃ niṝtaṃ jaraṇyayā rathaṃ na dasrā karaṇā saminvathaḥ | kṣetrādā vipraṃ janatho vipanyayā pra vāmatra vidhate daṃsanā bhuvat ||

Skillful Dasras, you restored Vandanā, when debilitated by old age, as a (wheelwright repairs a worn-out) car; (moved) by his praises, you brought forth the sage (Vāmadeva) from the womb; may your (glorious) deeds be (displayed) for him who in this plural ce offers you worship.

अगच्छतं कृपमाणं परावति पितुः स्वस्य त्यजसा निबाधितम् । स्वर्वतीरित ऊतीर्युवोरह चित्रा अभीके अभवन्नभिष्टयः ॥

agacchataṃ kṛpamāṇaṃ parāvati pituḥ svasya tyajasā nibādhitam | svarvatīrita ūtīryuvoraha citrā abhīke abhavannabhiṣṭayaḥ ||

You repaired to him who, aflicted by the abandonment of his own father, praised you from afar; hence your prompt and wonderful succours have been wished to be at hand (by all).

उत स्या वां मधुमन्मक्षिकारपन्मदे सोमस्यौशिजो हुवन्यति । युवं दधीचो मन आ विवासथोऽथा शिरः प्रति वामश्व्यं वदत् ॥

uta syā vāṃ madhumanmakṣikārapanmade somasyauśijo huvanyati | yuvaṃ dadhīco mana ā vivāsatho'thā śiraḥ prati vāmaśvyaṃ vadat ||

That honey-seeking bee also murmured your praise; the son of Us;ij invokes you to the exhilaratin of Soma; you conciliated the mind of Dadhyañc, so that, provided with the head of a horse, he taught you (the mystic science).

युवं पेदवे पुरुवारमश्विना स्पृधां श्वेतं तरुतारं दुवस्यथः । शर्यैरभिद्युं पृतनासु दुष्टरं चर्कृत्यमिन्द्रमिव चर्षणीसहम् ॥

yuvaṃ pedave puruvāramaśvinā spṛdhāṃ śvetaṃ tarutāraṃ duvasyathaḥ | śaryairabhidyuṃ pṛtanāsu duṣṭaraṃ carkṛtyamindramiva carṣaṇīsaham ||

Aśvins, you gave to Pedu the white (horse) desired by many, the breaker-through of combatants, shining, unconquerable by foes in battle, fit for every work; like Indra, the conquerer of men.
