[rv-1-110] • 9 श्लोकाः

ततं मे अपस्तदु तायते पुनः स्वादिष्ठा धीतिरुचथाय शस्यते । अयं समुद्र इह विश्वदेव्यः स्वाहाकृतस्य समु तृप्णुत ऋभवः ॥

tataṃ me apastadu tāyate punaḥ svādiṣṭhā dhītirucathāya śasyate | ayaṃ samudra iha viśvadevyaḥ svāhākṛtasya samu tṛpṇuta ṛbhavaḥ ||

Ṛbhus, the rite formerly celebrated by me is again repeated, and the melodious hymn is recited in your praise; in this ceremony, the Soma is sufficient for all the gods; drink of it to your utmost content when offered on the fire.

आभोगयं प्र यदिच्छन्त ऐतनापाकाः प्राञ्चो मम के चिदापयः । सौधन्वनासश्चरितस्य भूमनागच्छत सवितुर्दाशुषो गृहम् ॥

ābhogayaṃ pra yadicchanta aitanāpākāḥ prāñco mama ke cidāpayaḥ | saudhanvanāsaścaritasya bhūmanāgacchata saviturdāśuṣo gṛham ||

When, Ṛbhus, you who are amongst my ancestors, yet immature (in wisdom), but desirous of enjoying (the Soma libations), retired to the forest to perform (penance), then, sons of Sudhanvan, throught he plural nitude of your completed (devotions), you came to the (sacrificial) hall of the worshipper Savitā.

तत्सविता वोऽमृतत्वमासुवदगोह्यं यच्छ्रवयन्त ऐतन । त्यं चिच्चमसमसुरस्य भक्षणमेकं सन्तमकृणुता चतुर्वयम् ॥

tatsavitā vo'mṛtatvamāsuvadagohyaṃ yacchravayanta aitana | tyaṃ ciccamasamasurasya bhakṣaṇamekaṃ santamakṛṇutā caturvayam ||

Then Savitā bestowed upon you immortality, when you came to him, who is not to be concealed, and representd (your desire) to partake of the libations; and that ladle for the sacrificial viands which the Asura had formed single, you made fourfold.

विष्ट्वी शमी तरणित्वेन वाघतो मर्तासः सन्तो अमृतत्वमानशुः । सौधन्वना ऋभवः सूरचक्षसः संवत्सरे समपृच्यन्त धीतिभिः ॥

viṣṭvī śamī taraṇitvena vāghato martāsaḥ santo amṛtatvamānaśuḥ | saudhanvanā ṛbhavaḥ sūracakṣasaḥ saṃvatsare samapṛcyanta dhītibhiḥ ||

Associated with the priests, and quickly performing the holy rites, they, being yet mortals, acquired immortality and the son of Sudhanvan, the Ṛbhus, brilliant as the sun, became connected with the ceremonies (appropriated to the different season) of the year.

क्षेत्रमिव वि ममुस्तेजनेनँ एकं पात्रमृभवो जेहमानम् । उपस्तुता उपमं नाधमाना अमर्त्येषु श्रव इच्छमानाः ॥

kṣetramiva vi mamustejanena~ ekaṃ pātramṛbhavo jehamānam | upastutā upamaṃ nādhamānā amartyeṣu śrava icchamānāḥ ||

Lauded by the bystanders, the Ṛbhus, with a sharp weapon, meted outt the single sacrificial ladle, like a field (measured by a rod), soliciting the best (libations) and desiring (to participate of) sacrificial food amongs thte gods.

आ मनीषामन्तरिक्षस्य नृभ्यः स्रुचेव घृतं जुहवाम विद्मना । तरणित्वा ये पितुरस्य सश्चिर ऋभवो वाजमरुहन्दिवो रजः ॥

ā manīṣāmantarikṣasya nṛbhyaḥ sruceva ghṛtaṃ juhavāma vidmanā | taraṇitvā ye piturasya saścira ṛbhavo vājamaruhandivo rajaḥ ||

To the leaders (of the sacrifice), dwelling in the firmament, we present, as with a ladle, the appointed clarified butter, and praise with knowledge those Ṛbhus, who, having equalled the velocityof the protector (of the universe, the sun), ascended to the region of heaven, through (the offerings) of (sacrificial) food.

ऋभुर्न इन्द्रः शवसा नवीयानृभुर्वाजेभिर्वसुभिर्वसुर्ददिः । युष्माकं देवा अवसाहनि प्रियेऽभि तिष्ठेम पृत्सुतीरसुन्वताम् ॥

ṛbhurna indraḥ śavasā navīyānṛbhurvājebhirvasubhirvasurdadiḥ | yuṣmākaṃ devā avasāhani priye'bhi tiṣṭhema pṛtsutīrasunvatām ||

The most excellent Ṛbhu is in strength our defender; Ṛbhu, through gifts of food and of wealth, is our asylum; may he bestow them upon us, Gods, through your protection; may we, upon a favourable occasion, overcome the hosts of those who offer no libations.

निश्चर्मण ऋभवो गामपिंशत सं वत्सेनासृजता मातरं पुनः । सौधन्वनासः स्वपस्यया नरो जिव्री युवाना पितराकृणोतन ॥

niścarmaṇa ṛbhavo gāmapiṃśata saṃ vatsenāsṛjatā mātaraṃ punaḥ | saudhanvanāsaḥ svapasyayā naro jivrī yuvānā pitarākṛṇotana ||

Ṛbhus, you covered the cow with a hide, and reunited themother with the calf; sons of Sudhanvan, leaders (of sacrifice), through your good works you rendered your aged parents young.

वाजेभिर्नो वाजसातावविड्ढ्यृभुमाँ इन्द्र चित्रमा दर्षि राधः । तन्नो मित्रो वरुणो मामहन्तामदितिः सिन्धुः पृथिवी उत द्यौः ॥

vājebhirno vājasātāvaviḍḍhyṛbhumā~ indra citramā darṣi rādhaḥ | tanno mitro varuṇo māmahantāmaditiḥ sindhuḥ pṛthivī uta dyauḥ ||

Indra, associated with the Ṛbhus, supply us, in the distribution of viands, with food, and consent to bestow upon us wonderful riches; and may Mitra, Varuṇa, Aditi--ocean, earth, and heaven, preserve them fo rus.
